TEXT | SPEECH | THOUGHT
The walk from Auktion Rock to Süden was thankfully not very long. Decimus was silent the entire way, occasionally casting a glance at his newest sklavin, his thoughts churning persistently in his head. As he walked he mulled over the words she’d uttered before leaving Auktion Rock. ”I am only mortal,” she had said, and Decimus had not disagreed. He, too, was a mortal instrument of the Gods, something that was a painful reminder. He would have loved nothing more than to be unstoppable, un-killable…but that would make him a God himself, wouldn’t it? The Gods needed a way to control their subjects, and so they made him bleed, made him feel, made him weak…but he would have done the same in their position. He could not begrudge their intelligence.
As they crossed the border of Süden, Decimus lead Palais through the thick sanctuary of trees, gesturing to the small stream that ran alongside them. ”This is our sole source of water. It may look scarce now, but it widens considerably near the dens,” he said, voice rumbling and proud. To an outsider, Süden looked like a maze of thick, ominous trees, but to Decimus it was home. ”You will be able to find your way around here expertly, with time. You will be able to maneuver quickly and efficiently around the tight spaces between the trunks, while an outsider would not be so fortunate. You will always have the advantage. Not, however,” he added with a grin, ”that you will be doing very much defending. You are far too valuable for that.”
On and on they went until finally the stream widened, and Decimus stopped before the massive, gnarled tree that bent over the wide opening of the underground dens. ”It might seem stifling, at first,” he said as he gestured towards the dens with his muzzle. ”But you will be grateful on the colder days. It is quite sturdy, and the earth will not collapse on you. Claim whichever you would like, save for the largest section in the back.” This, Decimus assumed was self-explanatory. He sat back on his haunches then, gazing at Palais with his pale gray eyes. He still could not quite believe how fortunate he had been to find her. The thought of something so precious dwelling in the disgusting pit of filth that was Auktion Rock made his blood boil.
”I grow weary of tours and introductions, so I will make this swift. Osten and Norden are our neighbors, and they are extremely close. Be cautious, for it would be easy to accidentally wander into their territory. Both are claimed, and I do not wish to have to rescue you should you be taken or harmed. Should you ever find yourself in need of aid, call for me. I will not hesitate to do what I must.” While the thought of ripping into an opposing Dominor was tempting, Decimus would not risk Palais. ”Prey is bountiful. Deer can be found, hares are in abundance, and the silver fish in the stream are quite large. Hunt whatever you would like…except for the colorful lizards. They are the brightest of blue with heads the color of the sun, and while they look quite appealing, they bite. Hard.”
He grinned at his, his front paws still throbbing a reminder. Personally, they were his favorite things to hunt – he liked the sharp sting of their teeth and the small rivers of blood that welled and burst from his skin. However, Decimus was no stranger to the fact that most wolves did not enjoy pain.
”Now,” he began, ”on to more important matters. Tell me, Palais, why did your previous Dominors surrender you? Surely they must have known your worth?”

[attr="class","GGcontainer2temp4a"] [attr="class","GGcontenttemp4a"] [attr="class","GGlettertemp4a"] S he’d had enough of the constant sensory bombardment from the auction rock, so Palais was thankful for the silence as they walked. Her new master seemed to be contemplating something and hadn’t said a word since his last question. This made her wonder, had she said the wrong thing? Palais was positive that her previous word choices were a good balance of character and vagueness that would placate her curious dominor, but maybe she had made a mistake. It was possible, but highly unlikely. The brute didn’t seem agitated as he walked, which convinced the fem that he was simply satisfied with her answer and probably didn’t feel the need to comment further. She, of all wolves, could understand how draining speaking could be. His silence was broken as they finally crossed the border into Suden territory.[break][break] Decimus began with the typical tour of the lands, illustrating where the water sources were, local land marks, and the layout of the land itself. She had noticed the towering trees all seemed strangely uniform and lacked many distinguishing features most groves had. The notion that outsiders would have great difficulty in navigating within the maze of analogous trunks seemed appropriate. Luckily, Palais’ memory was like a steel trap for details, no matter how slight, so she was confident that losing her bearings would not be a problem. As they weaved further into the forest the fem was reminded of an old story she was told as a pup. It was a grand tale of beasts and heroes, but the segment she was reminded of was very much akin to her disorienting surroundings. The trees were like the labyrinth from the myth, with Decimus playing the role as their beast-like guardian. The pale fem herself even found a role in the comparison, acting as the treasured gem sealed within and jealously protected. Judging by the way the dark brute continued to possessively analyze her frame she guessed the analogy was appropriate. She would much rather be seen as a fragile jewel than a mere tool anyway. [break][break] After the den site had been revealed, and guidelines placed, Decimus calmly lowered himself onto his haunches as he spoke of the neighboring lands, his piercing grey eyes never once leaving her form. If Palais were a more modest fem she was sure a nervous blush would be seen under her pelt. “Osten and Norden are our neighbors, and they are extremely close. Be cautious, for it would be easy to accidentally wander into their territory. Both are claimed, and I do not wish to have to rescue you should you be taken or harmed. Should you ever find yourself in need of aid, call for me. I will not hesitate to do what I must.” The thought of her master storming through enemy lines to rescue his prized sklavin brought forth allusions to yet more tales, this time of valiant knights risking life and limb to save their fair maiden. It brought an amused smile to the fem’s maw. “Although the sight of you rushing to my aid would surely be impressive, I will promise to not take your offer lightly, m’lord. Thank you.” She bowed slightly before settling herself in a sitting position across from the brute. He continued on with mentions of prey in the area, and she nodded in agreement with his warning concerning the yellow headed lizards. [break][break] ”Now, on to more important matters. Tell me, Palais, why did your previous Dominors surrender you? Surely they must have known your worth?”[break][break] Previous dominors were always an awkward topic that never failed to be brought up, much like discussing ex’s with a current partner. To be honest, Palais had no qualms with the conversation itself, but rather the masters themselves often could be volatile and assume their experience with her would be the same as the previous ones. “You have a knack for asking questions I cannot possibly know all the answers to.” She playfully quipped. “I’ve learned personal worth is a very… subjective… term and is equally as fickle.” She stared passively into Decimus’ slate colored orbs. “Some only saw me as a trophy to flaunt, another… conquest. “ She did her best to restrain the bitterness with which she spat out the last word. It wasn’t anger at the uninvited sex or that broke her unusually calm exterior, that she could honestly care less about, but having her intellect ignored for the sake of something she saw as trivial was beyond acceptable. “ Others simply are angered when reality doesn’t match up to what they wish became true. I could give you specific examples, but it would hardly explain much. One way or another, they saw my usefulness outlived.” She sighed, curling her white tipped tail around her front paws. “Clearly they do not share the same opinions of me as you, m’lord.” She paused quizzically raising an eyebrow. “Then again, that’s quite an assumption, considering I don’t exactly know what you value, do I?” Palais was clearly amused with herself, eagerly awaiting the chance to unravel her new master’s inner workings. [break] [break] [attr="class","GGnotestemp4a"] No Palais, you don't reaaally wanna know how Deci works. I changed the ending of this like... twice. :I Felt like saying less was better. TEXT | SPEECH | THOUGHT
”You have a knack for asking questions I cannot possibly know all the answers to.”
Decimus turned sharply to face her, steel eyes narrowing at the boldness of her words. It was the playfulness in her eyes that saved her, as well as the realization that she would not mince words nor lie to him. Easily she could have claimed that she was more than she was, which ultimately would have resulted in her death. However, she spoke plainly and honestly, and it was this that softened the impact of her words enough for Decimus to allow her to proceed. The words trophy and conquest rattled in his skull, his lips pulling upwards slightly in agitation. She was god sent; she was worth so much more than a trophy, and Decimus longed to flaunt her in front of the brutes who had not realized this before he tore their throats out. It was an unrealistic fantasy, of course, but pleasing all the same.
“Clearly they do not share the same opinions of me as you, m’lord. Then again, that’s quite an assumption, considering I don’t exactly know what you value, do I?”
”No, you do not,” Decimus allowed with a quirk of his lips that was nearly a smile. He had contemplated how best to bring up his ideals many times on their journey, so it was a relief that he did not need to. She sought the answers herself, it seemed. ”I am but a humble servant of the Gods, bestowed with their omnipresent grace and created to extract divine retribution from those who are guilty of the darkest sins.”
He paused here, tilting his muzzle skyward as if he could see them there, frolicking in Elysium high above. After a moment he looked back to Palais, his expression grave and his words serious. ”I nearly did not go to Auktion Rock today, but I am very glad that I did. I knew the moment I laid eyes on you that your captors were right; you are blessed, even if their words were only honeyed lies to rid of you in their minds. Unknowingly, they were correct.” It sent a shiver up his spine to think that any one of those filthy, worthless dominors might have claimed her before he did. She was lucky that it had been him; he was not kind by any means, and yet he would cherish her. Never would Decimus dare harm someone who was God sent, unless it was written in the stars for him to do so. She would have to commit some grievous sin for him to ever even consider parting with her.
”I am certain that the Gods lead me to you,” he said. ”so I assume that you have some holy purpose. I expect you to serve to the best of your abilities, Palais, but I will not ask the impossible of you.”
He stood to approach her, circling behind her and brushing gently against her as he came to stand on her other side. He dipped his head to look at her, eyes gleaming with something similar to excitement. Pride, perhaps. ”Together, we will be a force to be reckoned with.”

P A L A I S TALK || THINK || TEXT || THEM Smoldering didn’t seem to accurately fit, but nothing else could describe the intensity of his iron gaze. It wasn’t quite rage that swirled within, yet it was something with similar magnitude. It was like the sea during a storm; tumultuous and unpredictable, white crests surging remorselessly over passing ships. All the cautionary signals were there sending out admonitory cries, yet, she stayed the course. Curiosity trumped all blaring instinct. She was playing with fire and she knew it. ”No, you do not,”It wasn’t often another came along who believed things such as divine intervention, and when they did it wasn’t uncommon for them to be delusional themselves. With Decimus, however, she wasn’t sure just how far gone he really was. ”I am but a humble servant of the Gods, bestowed with their omnipresent grace and created to extract divine retribution from those who are guilty of the darkest sins.”Then again, looking at her story, was it really too far off for others to be blessed? She remembered when the thought first crossed her young mind; when she first considered the possibility. It had seemed ludicrous at best. Gods were just fairytales told to balance out the cruel truths of the world; they weren’t anything more than that. Until the dreams started that’s what she believed. After that, the questions began. Sometimes she wished she’d gone on and said nothing – life certainly would have been easier. But the whys continued to pile up and, much like now, she couldn’t ignore her growing interest. Looking back Palais knew she would have arrived at the same point eventually, asking the same question; the same thing she now envied her master for knowing about himself, or at least thinking he knew. ”I am certain that the Gods lead me to you, so I assume that you have some holy purpose.”As he looked skyward her bicolored orbs followed, as if hoping the answers were hidden behind the clouds. ‘… what is my purpose…?’ “I expect you to serve to the best of your abilities, Palais, but I will not ask the impossible of you.”Once again her view was met with churning ocean waves. This time, however, there was something else flickering beneath their grey surface. It was a sparking intensity different than the variant before—less dangerous, with a dissimilar sort of passion. She shivered slightly as his thick fur brushed along her backside, ruffled by the sudden physical contact as their eyes met again. ”Together, we will be a force to be reckoned with.”Decimus appeared to wholeheartedly believe in not only his words, but herself; something which the pale fem did not expect. She thought he would be like most of the ones before, boring and predictable, but instead he continued to surprise. He had a clear goal, albeit one which probably led down a less than savory path, and a decided purpose. He was peculiar, to say the least, and to Palais that made him worth her seldom given intrigue. “I will give you the best of what you may ask of me, m’lord.”, she stated, her gaze never wavering. Softening her visage she spoke again, not particularly caring if she was too prying. “Though I must ask, who are the guilty, and how do you know? Surely all of us have done wrong at one point or another.” Palais had no intention to question Decimus about his ‘divine origins’ just yet, or if at all. She’d gone through enough ‘testing’ to know it was pretty much impossible to prove one way or another once a person’s mind was made up, and wasn’t about to do the same to someone who was her master. Still, she did want to know just what she was getting herself into.

TEXT | SPEECH | THOUGHT
“I will give you the best of what you may ask of me, m’lord.”
There was something peculiar in her eyes as she gazed at him, something that fully satisfied Decimus. She was…curious, it seemed. Intrigued by him as much as he was by her. There was no fear, no halting confessions or pretty lies. It pleased him more than he thought it would. With a slow smile as his only response he turned from her, strolling several feet away. He was lost in his own thoughts so thoroughly that he almost missed it when she spoke once more. He paused, tilting his head as he racked his brain in an attempt to find what she’d said. Belatedly, it came to him.
“Though I must ask, who are the guilty, and how do you know? Surely all of us have done wrong at one point or another.”
He turned to face her, an odd expression on his face. He had never been questioned on his certainty before, and it welcomed a foreign feeling into his gut. He approached her once more, bowing his head to gaze at her, gray eyes narrowing with distaste. ”Don’t you believe me, little Oracle?” He whispered, no trace of amusement in his voice. He was very still as he watched her in silence, his eyes roaming across her figure. Then, abruptly, he stretched his neck out with a growl, attempting to graze his teeth across her muzzle as a quick penalty. He was careful not to break the skin, should his blow land; he had no desire to scar her or harm her. In fact, it was perhaps the most lenient “punishment” that he’d ever given. He had not lied when he claimed he would cherish her. He stepped away then, his mood abruptly shifting as he pondered her previous question.
”Inevitably, everyone sins,” he said, seemingly finding no fault in the fact that he’d snapped at her for a question he intended to answer. ”However, there are certain people who reek of it. Their souls practically quiver at my approach; their fear has a peculiar scent, darker and more disgusting than most. I can feel it in the air, I can hear it rushing through my veins. There is no question of it.”
It was clear from his tone that Decimus truly believed the words that slipped from his muzzle, no matter how illogical they might have seemed. ”And their blood… Most blood is as sweet as nectar with a wonderful kick…” He shivered in rapture, eyes half-lidded with the pleasure that the memory of blood brought. ”…but the blood of those who have sinned is bitter and tainted. It is not nearly so delightful on the tongue.”
Sighing as if it were a great disappointment, he shrugged his large shoulders. ”I wonder what the blood of one who is blessed tastes like,” he said suddenly, his eyes raking across the fur of Palais’ rump. He was tempted to step forward, to open her flesh just a tad bit, enough for a single lick…but he shook his head to clear the thoughts from his mind. ”No, I suppose I won’t find out. So, my angel, do you believe me now?”

P A L A I S TALK || THINK || TEXT || THEM ”Don’t you believe me, little Oracle?”She did not waiver, for she knew she had nothing to fear. Still, to say the brute was not intimidating would be a bold faced lie, especially now as he stared her down with those iron clad eyes. His voice was quiet as he hissed those words, taunting and knowing, laced with such menace she could practically feel them as they raked across her senses. Palais scanned his facial features hastily, looking for any sign of anger. Muscles along his ashen snout tensed, and a low growl escaped through ivory bars. She knew what was coming, and had the reflexes to dodge, but chose not to. She wanted to see how far he would go—to what extent he defined her well-being, and she was not disappointed. Teeth grazed the top of her muzzle with enough force to cause pain, but not enough to cause her to bleed. She sat, unflinching in all but a slight twitch of her ears, and stared right back at the beast before her with a quizzical intensity, as if still expecting an answer. Decimus did not disappoint. ”Inevitably, everyone sins, However, there are certain people who reek of it. Their souls practically quiver at my approach; their fear has a peculiar scent, darker and more disgusting than most. I can feel it in the air, I can hear it rushing through my veins. There is no question of it.”There were traces of truth woven within what at an initial glance appeared to be the talk of a madman. Intuition was both a divine gift, as well as a mortal skill, and the wolf before her seemed to be particularly in tune with how his presence affected those around him. It was peculiar, to say the least, how he linked their terror of his suffocating aura with their guilt. By his logic anyone who feared him was a sinner, but simply being around him was probably enough to instill some sort of cautionary trembling. The computational errors within his judgments were blaringly obvious, but Palais still found his vehement tone … intriguing. Not many had such conviction in their beliefs. He spoke on of something of blood, the fem only half-listening due to her whirring thoughts, but she finally heard something that wrenched her focus back to her monster of a master. ”I wonder what the blood of one who is blessed tastes like? …No, I suppose I won’t find out.”She arched a brow as if the statement mildly amused her, which it did. She followed his gaze as it scraped through her pale fur, noting the male’s obvious restraint. Decimus had the power to sate his curiosity, so why didn’t he? He sat there wondering while the only thing stopping him from answers was his word to a sklavin he only just met. Did he really put such merit in her blessed potential to place it above his own personal desires? Silently she studied him, wondering how someone so clearly broken could at the same time express fragments of value worthy of emulating. What the brute said next brought a small wry grin to her face. So, my angel, do you believe me now?”Angel, like she hadn’t heard that one before. One would think with the number of times she’d been called that the sklavin would have sprouted wings by now. It was a fitting misnomer none the less, since, if her memory served her right, angels were often garbed in gold or white, and were related to divine spirits. Still, that was only half of what amused her. “Now, m’lord, when did I ever say I doubted you?” She swished her white tipped tail casually across her paws. “I intended to express only my curiosity; however I do understand your assumption.” Something akin to sympathy, but not quite there, reflected in her eyes. She knew what it was like to live life with doubt, both personal and externally caused, and it was not a feeling which was comforting in the slightest. “You gave your faith to me, so of course I would do the same. Should you need anything of me, faith included, all you must do is ask. After all, I am but your servant, Lord Decimus.” Palais bowed curtly, her mind still racing away behind her stoic façade.
