Despite the steadily dropping temperature, the falls had not frozen yet. The currents were moving fast, enough to be lethal as they rushed towards the drop before cascading over the edge, the roar so loud that it drowned out all sound. Below where the water pooled, ice had began to form around the edges, and long jagged icicles clung to the walls of the rock around the rushing water, slippery and treacherous. Despite this, the colossal brute stood just to the left of the drop off, gazing down at the land beneath him with a deeply satisfied expression on his dark face. His coal colored fur was touched allover with bits of silver and gray, which seemed brighter than usual in the light of the moon. His gray eyes gleamed as he breathed in the frigid air, welcoming the sting of it in his nostrils, taking pleasure from it. It was beautiful here, in this strange land that he had found. The dark history of the place was simply an added bonus; he grinned as he thought of the dusky place he'd passed earlier, reeking of blood and despair.
It was not the first place he'd known that welcomed slavery. These types were always his favorites. They deserved to hurt, after all. Every last one of them deserved to suffer retribution for their sins against the Gods. So he'd strutted through Auktion Rock as if he himself were a god, massive frame setting the sklavins trembling as he walked among them. His head had been held high, and with each tiny broken body that he passed, he took an immense amount of satisfaction in seeing them shrink away. Fortunately for them he was not intending to stake a claim; although several times he had considered becoming a Dominor, he had no land, and could not be troubled with it yet. If the Gods wished it, they would let him know.
The Gods. Thinking of them always made the brute shiver and glance skywards, his eyes darting across the expanse of stars. Were they up there now, watching him, approving of his actions? They had sent him, after all, to righteously dish out their punishment. If Iudex had seen how thoroughly Decimus had done this, surely he would be proud. Of course, that was what the huge brute told himself. The fact of the matter was, the attempt on his life by his own mother had been life altering. He had been the sole survivor of the incident after she'd drowned each of his siblings, and he'd fled into the wild on his own. There, he had slowly gone mad. He'd convinced himself that there had to be a reason he was the only survivor. It had to be the will of the Gods. His siblings had been culled because they were not strong enough, they were not pure enough. That was what he had believed for years now. There was a part of him that would sometimes whisper this to him, insisting that he was not immortal, he was not chosen, he was just insane. And it was that part that he railed against, too far gone to accept the truth when it came creeping in at night. So Decimus kept his God complex very much alive, refusing to consider that the Gods would shun him for his actions instead of approve. It was not a possibility to him.
Shaking bits of snow from his pelt, he paced back and forth at the top of the falls, considering descending to the bottom before eventually deciding against it. From his vantage point he could see anyone who might approach from below, and it made him feel powerful. Almost as if he were closer to the stars themselves. Chuckling, Decimus drew the rough paw pad of his left foreleg across a jagged piece of ice, sharp bursts of pain dancing across the skin before fading quickly. He would wait patiently here for some time, and perhaps if he was lucky, a sinner would stumble across his path. It had been some time since Decimus had encountered another.

T he night had been uneventful for Lividity as her narrow bodice slid through the undergrowth of the nearby waterfall. The crashing sound of water had drew her closer as she quite fancied the beautiful currents sliding from the face of mountain sides. Since her lone adventure began it was not the first waterfall she had come across but Livie felt something different about this particular fall. Her paws had re-directed her multiple times when she was tempted to stray off the path but now with her nose low to the ground she inched her heavy limbs to the pool of water. Relief flooded over her features as she instantly dropped to her stomach beside the steady running water. Instead of dipping her head to lap up the water she instead touched her right forepaw to the surface to watch the ripples erupt around and away until they vanished into nothingness. The action brought to light her idea that every life had an immediate impact and then eventually nothing because life didn't last forever. Every action yielded a result. Inching her eager limbs forward the she-wolf dropped her ivory snout into the crystal clear water, the lush flesh of her tongue escaping the confines of her maw to quickly lap up the water greedily. That was when she noted the shadow stretching out and across the pool of water. Someone was standing above her? How hadn't she noticed. Lividity stiffened with the return of her tongue to mouth and her deep chocolate gaze flickered toward the source of the shadow. Her jaw slackening to take in the scent. A male. The she-wolf felt like a fool for lowering her guard to such an extent what would her father say if he could see her now. Probably a lot but not much about this particular moment that could barely be called a memory in the future. Lividity quickly rose to all fours, her plush tail ruffing up after her slender frame. The she-wolf was intent on not engaging this male. She had run into another wolf whom informed her of this region that differed not much from her birth lands. Slavery, and masters was basically the same as enslaved and royals. There was nothing here for her just the reminder of painful choices. Gritting her teeth hard in her mouth, the female slowly edged back the way she'd come hopeful she had been noticed by the brute above. WORDS - 406 ❤ |

It seemed as if the Gods themselves had peered into his very soul and saw his longing, for a moment later, something moving far beneath him caught Decimus’ eye. He turned his head sharply, steel gray eyes glinting in the moonlight as he gazed down at the pale creature that seemed so eager to slip away. She’d spotted him then, there high above her like a deity staring down at his subjects. A smile spread across his muzzle slowly, and he paused for only a moment before his large paws were carrying him forward, towards the path carved into the rock that wound down to the clear pool. He went quickly, reaching the bottom before she could slink away, and he came to stand before her with his smile spreading into a grin, revealing a flash of ivory teeth. She was much shorter than him, something that pleased Decimus, for he enjoyed feeling powerful and large. Her coat was a shade of ivory that might’ve made the moon envious, save for her rump where silvery shades shone through. And what a curvaceous rump it was, he thought, eyes roaming over it appreciatively before coming back to meet her chestnut colored eyes.
”Leaving so soon, little dove?” He asked, the deep baritone of his voice filled with rich amusement. He moved closer to her, although not so near as to pose a threat, paws leaving massive prints in the soft mud beneath him. He was reminded again of how long it had been since he’d conversed with another, usually because wolves took one glance at his massive size and recoiled. Or perhaps it wasn’t that. Perhaps it was something else though, like the particularly dark gleam in his pale gaze. Either way, it was something that Decimus would not complain about. He wanted these foolish whelps to experience uncertainty when they looked upon him. It was his job to dish out the retribution that their miserable souls deserved, and perhaps something within them sensed that and reacted to his presence, quivering like the legs of a freshly dropped fawn. And this stranger who stood before him, did she carry heavy sins upon her shoulders, he wondered? What horrors had she experienced, if any? Or was she still as fresh and green as a pup? Oh, he would relish finding out.
”No need to be bashful. I don’t bite terribly hard,” he said, a quiet laugh following his words as he lowered his heavily muscled neck to gaze into her own eyes. ”Unless, of course, you ask me to.”
He was giddy, almost playful, although his words likely came off more disturbing than he’d intended. Thus was Decimus’ humor – dark, grim, and a tad bit grotesque when given the right environment. ”Tell me, is your voice as lovely as your presence? What shall I call you?”

T he shadow that had stretched above had drifted with her departare, and for a moment Lividity could breathe a sigh of relief. Until, of course, the rattling of pine branches being rushed through alerted her ears to the presence of something in bound. The she-wolf curved her exit path off to the right but was cut off at what could only be described as a half bear half wolf or so it would seem. The male's height was extreme for almost any breed she'd come across. His pelt was an array of dark gloomy colors that seemed to match that sinister smile that seemed to promise only eventful turns of events. His top coat was a dark black loomed with a familiar gray pattern that lightened up the further down one's eyes traveled down his giant frame. It was clear this male was powerful and a force to be wreckened with. Livie's mind swirled with what reaction to take when his voice drew her mind back to reality. ”Leaving so soon, little dove?” Dove? Really? The she-wolf's eyebrows drew close together in annoyance at such a word. How dare he assume she was some frolicking wayward bird of all things? Her deep gaze rolled at the mere thought as her canines hinted at her lower lips in agitation. ”No need to be bashful. I don’t bite terribly hard,” His massive form made movement but in order to play his game the female was quick to slant a toothy smile as his head lowered to her own. A faint almost playful chuckle sneaking from her pale pink lips. ”Unless, of course, you ask me to.” Lividity offered a playful paw to flick the air feigning amusement in his comment yet her eyes remained precise on his face carefully reading him. Knowing that she wasn't escaping his presence anytime soon, the female dropped her rump into the patch of grass at her back. ”Tell me, is your voice as lovely as your presence? What shall I call you?” 'Well now, I guess only you can be the judge,' she swooned with a swift wink of her left eye. 'I'm Lividity, and you, yourself half bear half wolf? What name was place upon your head?' The she-wolf drew her paws close to her stomach as she tilted her head to observe the male a little more. Despite his massive size there weren't many scars littering his bodice. While he talked quite the game, the she-wolf seemed confident in being able to elude his presence with some time. Who knows what little nerve she could touch with her pointy little words. While she was the color of a dove she'd dealt with rude insistent wolves before and had the scars that littered her nose to prove it. 'Now, now, you shouldn't go offering to bite a lady until at least the second meeting silly wolf, much less there is no proof you could bite nearly as hard as I like.' she purred with a flick of her plush tongue in the air. Her body language, while playful and inviting, remained cautious as she lowered her rump to the ground. Decimus noted that her eyes never left his no matter how coy she seemed, something that he tucked away for later consideration. There was nothing worse than a naïve she-wolf in his opinion, and yet this female seemed far from it. She did not immediately let her guard down like a lamb frolicking with its butcher, which was something more common than Decimus had believed. Time after time she-wolves had trusted him blindly, and those were the kinds of females that Decimus enjoyed tormenting. He taught them a lesson, after all, one that would not soon be forgotten. But not this one.
'Well now, I guess only you can be the judge. I'm Lividity, and you, yourself half bear half wolf? What name was place upon your head?'
An amused smirk tugged his lips upwards as he watched her tilt her head back to observe him. He made no move to make her task easier; he enjoyed the way those smaller than him had crane their heads back on their vulnerable little necks. After a long moment she spoke again, as Decimus assumed she would. She-wolves never had just one thing to say.
'Now, now, you shouldn't go offering to bite a lady until at least the second meeting silly wolf, much less there is no proof you could bite nearly as hard as I like.'
Immediate laughter followed her words, deep amusement laced with a dark hint of mocking. He would have loved to prove her wrong, to sink his teeth deep into the fur of her neck until her coat was stained crimson and her body thrashing beneath him. Reverently he ran his tongue along his teeth, imagining the way her blood might taste. Some he’d found was as sweet as nectar was to bees, while others were stronger, more metallic. Would she taste as good as she lied he wondered?
”Bear? Truly, you flatter me,” he replied, making no move to sit as she had. Instead he prowled around her in a slow circle, sides brushing her own lightly, eyes roaming across her body until he came to stand before her once more. He noted with a quick flick of an ear that her muzzle was marred, distaste settling in the pit of his stomach. Decimus was not fond of flawed females, especially ones who had offered their soft skin in exchange for victory against another. I wonder what she reason she would possibly have to battle, he thought with a soft snort. Likely something foolish; females rarely had good reason for doing the things that they did.
”While I am no impressive hybrid, you may call me Decimus.” His eyes watched her relentlessly, and when her pink tongue darted from between her lips, he smiled. He wondered if she truly was as receiving as she pretended to be, or if it was a ploy to hold him at bay? There would be only one way to find out, after all.
”Tell me,” he spoke again after a moment, head tilting with curiosity. ”Why is it that you’re all alone? Do you belong to no pack?”

A musement flared in the she-wolf's eyes as the large male decided to pace around her body in languid movements as if taking in each feature. Lividity was beyond used to wolves looking at her like she was a prize or worse a slab of flesh ripe for the fangs to tear into. The silvery she-wolf was far from some cowering lowly bitch without a cause. Livvie on the other hand had one reason or rather one cause. She was meant to survive. She'd gotten this far this male wouldn't be the one to halt her progress until she could one day return home and rain hell upon those who took her lively hood. The brute finally settled back in front of her still standing as if to prove some sort of superiority. She was aware of his presence but found her memories much more satisfactory. It was finally his voice that drew her back into reality. ”While I am no impressive hybrid, you may call me Decimus.” Noting his smile of amusement at the appearance of her tongue the she-wolf decided to lower his pride a bit. Ivory ears flickered as a faint frown drew upon her pale pink lips. 'Well, that's quite a shame what a lavish beast you would have been, alas we cannot all be an awing sight, but impressive beast you still are, Decimus.' the she-wolf murmured with a second flick of just her left ear. There was a pause between the two before the male's lips broke forth more words. ”Tell me,” There was something oddly inciting about being demanded and that's quite what those two words sounded like. It sparked a glow in her chocolate orbs as they danced across his muzzle in vague interest. ”Why is it that you’re all alone? Do you belong to no pack?” There was that questions again. A ragged sigh torn from the female's tightening lips as her gaze finally averted from his face. There was no point in remembering the history that brought her here. Every night she hoped to claw away from that life but found herself drawn there by either dreams or the strangers she met along her travels. Her heart stirred at the loss that was Ash, her family, and her claws tightened in the dirt below her paw at the betrayal of her sister against her own kin. Knowing her home, they were all dead or at least those who had risen against those who condemned them to the dirt. The second of her lost composure was not unnoticed by the female as she quickly drew her tongue against her sharp canines allowing the spark of pain to return her to the question at hand. 'I'm just a wanderer not from this region. I have no home, or pack to speak of.' Not anymore. Her mind finished her thought, but Lividity paused weighing the words she almost spoke but her lips tightened before she spoke once more with a calculated thought rather than instinct. 'I'm searching for what I don't know but my paws will lead me there, this region, however, holds no promise for me with it's ideals of slaves and masters. Unequal wolves signals weakness to me,' the she-wolf found her limbs rising with unrest. The fluffy tail of hers following in instinct. Perhaps he would know the way to the western border of this region, she herself had gotten confused about her location after separating from her male traveling companion after he desired to stay in this region. af1a1a 728151 WORDS - 590 ❤ |
