High, high, high! That's what he was! Up high, like the clouds. The white wolf barked happily, his tail wagging a mile a minute as he stood on top of the tallest rock. He puffed out his chest and lifted his head high, letting out a howl. He began laughing half way through it, ruining the beautiful song. He fell on his belly, rolling around as laughter made his sides heave. He was so high and mighty, like a big Alpha wolfy! Nice, nice, nice. That's what it was. Nice.
His laughter froze, Lebrah gasping for breath. Once he caught it he wagged his paws in the air, flapping them like a ground fish. He was bored now. He had climbed all the way up here in hopes of fun, but now it was all worn out. He sighed heavily, staring up at the cloudy sky. Maybe it would snow. Oh! That would be fun! Jumping to his paws he wagged his tail once more, barking at the sky. "Snow, snow! I want snow!" he howled, jumping from paw to paw. He danced around in circles, howling at the sky for it to snow. "I want snowwwww!" he sang, leaping forward. He misguided his landing, twisted his paw and rolled forward onto his back. "Ouchy," he whined, the wind whispering out of his lungs. He laid stunned for several moments, gasping for air.
Once his breath was caught he rolled over onto his belly, whining softly. "I just wanted snow," he said, his voice lowing into a whisper. Snow was fun! He would have fun in snow... He would have even more fun if he had someone to play with, a mommy to take care of him. A long whimper passed his lips, turning into mist in the winter air. "Mommy?" he cried, tears spilling down his white cheeks. Did he even have a mother? He couldn't remember, he couldn't remember! Jumping to his feet a harsh growl ripped through his teeth, rattling his teeth and making them click together. "Why can't I remember? WHY CAN'T I REMEMBER?" he roared, a harsh growl echoing in the high rocks. He kicked at a small rock by his paws, watching as it bounced off a tree. Lebrah fell to the earth, sobs shaking his side painfully. He cried like the child he thought he was, for the childhood that he lost. He was five years old, but in his mind he was still a yearling. His cries grew louder and louder, filling the ground below the high rocks. He was alone, so utterly alone.

The sturdy female leaped from rock to rock, her dull tan coat blending her in against the gentle tones of the desert rock around her. A creamy undercoat, sandy overcoat, and faint red-brown smudgey guard hairs combine to create the perfect camouflage, until she hit the higher grounds where the rock turned rich red brown in color, and a thin layer of melting ice clung to nearly every surface in the fast rising sun.
It was almost midday and the female wanted to reach the top in time to laze the day away and watch the lands, then the sunset and stars and moon, before moving on. Amavi knew of several good hiding and resting places there near the top.
The whole time she was climbing, her odd eyes flickered back and forth cautiously, as was her wont. They were a gorgeous golden amber, like honey set to harden and glisten in the sun, with odd patches of evergreen night throughout them. Heterochromia, she had been told. Two toned eyes, where large patches of color split her iris oddly, giving it the look of a piebald horse's pelt. Constantly they scanned, looking out for danger, while her nose and ears did their jobs just as thoroughly. Yet, even with these precautions; when wolf's song split the air she jumped. Her ears pinned and her body dropped to the ground, seeking cover for her fairly tall yet lightweight form beneath some bushes. The beautiful, haunting song warning her of anothers' presence soon broke off midsong and she tilted her head curiously. Ever so cautiously, one dusty white paw in front of the other, she continued up the mesa.
Nearing the top, she edged her way around bushes and rock, and soon found a brute sobbing like a child, though he appeared to be near her age of six years at least. Why can't I remember? WHY CAN'T I REMEMBER?

The words echoed from the mesa to the valley below, pure male rage flowing through them, though the words previous to them had been quite childish and youthful sounding. Amavi quirked her head at the odd sight, trying to decide what she thought of it. She had heard plenty about simple adults who acted like youthful pups their entire lives, though she'd never met one. If he was one, she wouldn't mind staying for a chat and maybe help him out. A yearling or less in mind could not hunt or care for oneself properly, she didn't think. Amavi crept forward slowly. What if her brothers had set a trap for her? They could have easily have discovered her escape from her last master, fleeing to become a Freior against their orders, and her father's. This would be the kind of thing they'd do; threaten a wolf into playing dumb for them, to capture their little sister, their little "love", to re-enslave her and ruin her further. The brutes of her family did not believe in femmes with power of thought, and body. They sought to destroy both through rape and abuse, and enslavement- as the criss-crossed scars on her back, and the chaffed fur at her throat and ankles proved. Should she help this stranger, see why he was crying? See what he tried so desperately to remember? Or should she avoid a possible trap and continue on? But Amavi was not one to be scared off, and this is exactly what her brothers would want. A female who lived in such fear of them that she would leave those in need, just because she feared their paws were involved.. She must not let them control her and her fear. She would approach. One soft paw step after another, she made it to the male's side, though her eyes continued to dart continuously, and her muscles remained tensed for flight. Sir.. Are you okay? Amavi asked gently, prodding him with one soft paw. Voice Mind Stranger[/blockquote]

The small wolf curled into a tiny ball, wishing he could just disappear. He wasn't meant for this life. He should be dead. Lebrah looked up then, shaking his head. No, he didn't want to die. That was a scary thought. Then he truly would be alone. He couldn't find his past through death, that was not allowed. No, he would figure out what happened to him. Maybe. He wanted a mother, he wanted one badly.
Just then a noise reached his audits, and Lebrah jumped to his paws and spun around in a circle. "W-who's there?" he asked, his ears back. Was it a meany wolf who was going to eat him. "I don't taste good, you don't want to eat me! I'm little!" he whined, dancing in a small circle as he tried to see who was there. When he couldn't see anything he fell to the ground again, whimpering softly. A paw prodded him then, nearly making him jump out of his skin. He looked up, a earthen coloured female standing above him. He asked if he was okay, calling him sir. Lebrah snorted. "I'm so sir! That's silly," He stood up slowly, looking at the female. She looked nice enough, she probably wasn't going to eat him.
"I can't remember anything," he whispered, pressing against the female slightly. Another tear fell down his cheeks, the white male shaking it off. He was being silly, but he just couldn't remember. Lebrah pushed his face into the females chest, burring it in her soft fur. That was so much comfort to him, and he withdrew a shaky breath. Pulling back he looked up at her, his amber eyes still damp with tears. "I'm Lebrah, by the way," he said softly, his tail wagging a few times. "Sorry for doing this... but I have no one and you just looked so warm..." Plopping down on his bottom he looked up at the taller wolf, sniffling a couple times. Man, was he ever pathetic.

The male was acting very strangely, and Amavi began to rethink along her early tracks. He must be one of those simple wolves she'd heard a little about. The female wondered what had triggered such a mindset in one of such obvious years, probably only a little younger than herself.
Suddenly the off-white male was rubbing against her and burrowing his face in her thick, cream-and-sand chest fur. Mav stiffened instantly, on the alert. Was he making his move? Oh, how her brothers would laugh! They would set up a trap like this, she knew it. Yet the male's eyes were honestly tear soaked, how could she abandon him? I'm Lebrah, by the way, He introduced himself quietly, tail wagging a bit.
Amavi wasn't sure how to deal with this wolf, not when all her instincts told her to flee, to run like a maniac from this brute. If Lebrah was just pretending to be simple, dumb, he could switch to reality faster than she'd be able to tell. But he was smaller than her... So had her youngest brother, and he had yielded whip, chain, and teeth at her plenty easily. But this male was obviously in need, so she'd stay for a bit at least.
Amavi. She introduced herself shortly, gaze flicking across the clearing, disliking the open space at the top of the mesa. At least up here she could see for miles, giving herself a fantasy of safety, of invincibility. Pale ears constantly on the move, catching every sound and filtering none until she was sure that they were truly alone, except for the rare bluebird in the tree or rustle of prey in the brush that ended a short ways down the mesa's path.
