Viper had left behind auktion rock, and taken his new follower farther into the forest. He had heared how the forest could unnerve many a wolf. He knew this wasn't necessarily the safest place, or the best for a wolfs moral but it seemed a perfect place to hide and get to know the female, Othello. Did anything actually dangerous watch for wolves to turn into a meal? Were the feelings of being watched simply prey animals making sure they didn't end up in a wolfs stomach? Well, whatever it was that kept him feeling a bit wary, it was likely to keep out any wolves that might other wise want to chase him down. Perhaps he would make this place a home, perhaps not. He'd deal with that later.
Once the exit to the forest lay far behind them he finally stopped and looked at Othello to see how she was handling this strange bit of land. "Time to get to know each other better. You already know my plans." A slight sigh as he considered again his own plans. There was no doubt in his mind, only a fierce desire to be on his way but no matter how much he wanted to steal away other sklavins patience and thought was still required. "You've already shown willingness to work with me, thats good. Do you know of any particular packs in the area? Especially those with larger number of sklavins? If you do we can go there directly. Otherwise we will simply travel out and see what there is to fine."
It was already growing dark, the sun must have been on its course down with night swiftly approaching. The forest had an uncanny ability to steal away the light fast, making Viper wonder how dark it would actually be when night fully arrived. Well, whatever, he had no doubt in the sharpness of his fangs or strength in his claws. Worse that could happen was death, and he'd face that head on as well. There was no challenge he wouldn't face! "I think we will come back here after our raids to rest up, let those who follow us gain strength. No sane wolf likes to come here, and that is fine for me." After all, he wanted to go against all wolf tradition and do away with the title of sklavins. Was he really all that sane? "Tell me, do you have any fears that will possibly hinder us? Willing to fight and courage for a battle are what we need. Also, if there is anything we fear it must be dealt with, however necessary. How much time do you need to recover from being a sklavin? I am sure there is plenty of game in this forest if we search." So long as some monstrous predator didn't claim all the prey for itself.

Othello
Othello couldn't deny it, the forest freaked her out. As it was, she found herself trailing after Viper, the wolf who had freed her earlier, her mind imagining shadowy figures and fanged monsters lurking just out of reach. She shuddered, her cinnamon pelt rippling and shaking as she pushed through a cluster of bushes, trying to keep up with the brute striding ahead of her. Finally, after what seemed like a very long time, Viper halted and turned towards her. Othello shuffled nervously as she froze, glancing from side to side, a frown plastered on her muzzle. Had that shadow just shivered, just as she had moments before? Definitely creepy.. "Time to get to know each other better. You already know my plans."Viper's voice made Othello glance up, her body instantly relaxing as she remembered that she wasn't alone in this odd place. With that thought in mind, she lowered herself into a sitting position, glancing around. Okay, so maybe those shadows weren't that scary. And the moving things? Squirrels or birds she supposed. It didn't exactly have to be anything creepy. It wasn't even dark yet and she was already freaking out. She had to calm down. Significantly less jumpy, she flicked her ears and looked back at Viper as he continued speaking. Do you know of any particular packs in the area? Especially those with larger number of sklavins? If you do we can go there directly."Hmm.." she murmured, frowning once more as she thought. She could have sworn that the previous Dominor she had been with had been grumbling about a few of the packs, some that she knew must have had a decent amount of Sklavins.. "I, uh, probably should know a few. I'm almost positive that the idiot you saved me from had been complaining about a few. But I wasn't really listening to him, to be honest with you. I spaced out. Which I probably shouldn't do. I need to be observant.."She fell silent as Viper continued on, questioning her fears. Now, this was something she would have to think long and hard about. What was Othello afraid of? She wrinkled her nose as she considered this, trying to imagine things that would spook her. Sure, this forest was creepy enough, but it was just due to the rumors that surrounded it. Her earlier fear had been a mental block, something she'd had to work around. But she knew that Viper wasn't asking for things like that. He was asking for serious things. "I guess you could say I'm scared of water. Never really tried swimming...the idea of drowning positively terrifies me," she admitted slowly as she kneaded at the dirt beneath her paws, a nervous habit. "I'm scared of not being able to see. Of inclosed places, too. But otherwise, there's really nothing else that I can think of. I don't think it will take me very long to recover from my life of slavery. I'll just have to realize that I'm actually free, which is slowly happening. I should probably put on a little weight, I'm puny."She grinned, shaking herself as she took one last glance around. "What about you? You seem so fearless." [/blockquote]

She was obviously affected by the surroundings, not that Viper was overly survived. He refused to show it but this place did give him the creeps. What was the worst thing that could possibly happen? How many times had he already faced death and managed to survive? Any threat in here he would face as well. Still, the female would have to find her own reasons to be calm in this place.
"I, uh, probably should know a few. I'm almost positive that the idiot you saved me from had been complaining about a few. But I wasn't really listening to him, to be honest with you. I spaced out. Which I probably shouldn't do. I need to be observant.."
“I strongly suggest you do start listening and paying attention to every detail. I plan to piss off every wolf that isn’t a sklavin shortly. Dazing off will get you killed, and it won’t help me.” His words were rough, no softness or attempt to bolster her confidence in self.
"I guess you could say I'm scared of water. Never really tried swimming...the idea of drowning positively terrifies me, I'm scared of not being able to see. Of inclosed places, too. But otherwise, there's really nothing else that I can think of. I don't think it will take me very long to recover from my life of slavery. I'll just have to realize that I'm actually free, which is slowly happening. I should probably put on a little weight, I'm puny."
“Well, we will work on the water later. Take you swimming a few times.” If need be he was large enough and had enough muscle he was quite sure he could force her into water regardless of how hard fear made her fight. Viper didn’t bother to add about how he’d be letting her spend time underwater, force her under till she realized she didn’t die right away. Not that he’d spent much time physically under water, but he wasn’t worried about panicking should it happen. “As far as the not being able to see or closed in spaces, this forest will be a good start. Tree’s are pretty packed her as I’m guessing you noticed, and I got a feeling when night is complete we won’t be seeing quite so much.”
"What about you? You seem so fearless."
He could of course tell her what he feared, but he didn’t really feel like explaining it. To give way to fear as his fear? To become a pathetic worthless wolf who let others control his life? Did he fear the thought or only hate it? He worked so hard at defying that there was even a remote chance of it happening that he wasn’t even sure on what all his emotions were to if it truly happened. It won’t happen. He could say it was his only fear because everything else was taken from him. That was none of her business. Silence for about half a minute, his face never changing expression, his body not moving as much as a twitch of a muscle. “Fear is pointless, I don’t bother with it. Got any more questions?”

Othello
“I strongly suggest you do start listening and paying attention to every detail. I plan to piss off every wolf that isn’t a sklavin shortly. Dazing off will get you killed, and it won’t help me.”Othello felt a spark of irritation slice through her upon hearing his rough tone, and she glanced sideways at him, eyes narrowing slightly. She decided to keep her mouth shut, however, instead beginning to groom the fur on one of her legs. Dipping her head down so that her face was hidden, she began to lick and pick at the fur, working at a bit of dry blood there that had been undetectable by eye due to the fact that it nearly matched her fur. She had been aware of it, however, and how stiff the fur felt there. It had been agitating her for a while, picking at her mind. But little things tended to do that with Othello. “Well, we will work on the water later. Take you swimming a few times. As far as the not being able to see or closed in spaces, this forest will be a good start. Tree’s are pretty packed her as I’m guessing you noticed, and I got a feeling when night is complete we won’t be seeing quite so much.”She frowned, irritation replaced with fear. She wasn't entirely fond of the idea of having to face her fears, but what had she expected? Had she thought Viper was just asking for the sake of conversation? That he wouldn't do anything about it? No, he didn't seem like the conversational type..everything he did seemed to have reasoning. And it wasn't like she could live in fear forever. Water was everywhere. Darkness was everywhere. And she assumed that on her journey with Viper, she might very well see some inclosed places. She couldn't freak out and ruin their cover, if they ever had one. She had to learn how to be alert, calm, and composed. “Fear is pointless, I don’t bother with it. Got any more questions?”Agitation showed it face once again, and Othello's head snapped up. Her narrowed eyes focused on him, and she let a cheeky response slide through her clenched teeth. "Well, you truly are fearless, aren't you?" Her voice was monotone at best, far from her usual cheerful, upbeat chatter. She wasn't sure why the dull ache of anger was throbbing, but then again, she didn't have to be. She knew that sometimes, there wasn't an excuse for her moodyness. And although she probably could, and should, have calmed herself, she pressed on. "Maybe I should be like you. Keep quiet and only tell what absolutely has to be told. Maybe I should be a thrilling little mystery." She puffed up like a blowfish, but didn't dare make herself appear threatening, or like she wanted to harm him. No, that would be stupid. Instead she got to her feet, huffing and moving away from him, moodily angling towards a cluster of trees that would just barely be within seeing range. She was almost frigthened to move away from him, especially as it grew steadily darker, but she was as stubborn as a mule. Plopping down, she glanced over her shoulder, skewering him with her gaze. "I don't believe for a single second that you're not scared of anything. I do, however, believe that you're too frightened to admit what."[/blockquote]

Apparently he’d upset her some. Too bad. If she couldn’t stand his personality then it was best she get out now. He turned his head back the way they had come and then turned it slowly to look about the area. For all the haunting sensation it could give a wolf, so far nothing seemed to be coming for them.
"Maybe I should be like you. Keep quiet and only tell what absolutely has to be told. Maybe I should be a thrilling little mystery."
“Feel free. I didn’t bring you along for a friend to chat with. You are here to help me free sklavins and get revenge on the dominor’s and those who like harming the sklavins, even those who show coldness in their indifference. “ While little else seemed to have phased him, there actually seemed a bit of dry humor in that statement. Apparently there was some personality to him besides his drive for revenge, however little it may be.
"I don't believe for a single second that you're not scared of anything. I do, however, believe that you're too frightened to admit what."
A snort of disgust and he moved over to stand where she had walked off too, though he didn’t bother settling down but stared her in the eye practically demanding she look back at him. “You don’t have to like me, so don’t think I’m worried about it. So long as your willing to work with me, that’s all I care about. I don’t particularly care what you think of me either. You want to know why I do not fear anything Othello?” A bit of added harshness to her name, a reminder that no longer was she a sklavin, but a separate wolf with personality. “I lost everything I had already, and once you lose everything there is nothing to fear. I don’t care about anyone, I don’t particularly care about myself, nor do I have any desire to protect pride. You want to be like me? Give up every damn thing you have and believe in. All I care about is my revenge, and so nothing gets in the way of that focus.” The words had been more filled with venom with each second that passed, as if he shoved a bit of his old pain into her with his words. In the end teeth flashed though they weren’t meant for her.
Turning around and stalking off he sat down a few feet away, his gaze looked back in the direction they came and he remained motionless. “I’ll ask again. Any questions?” The tone was still rough but the pain and hate seemed to be gone now.

Othello
When Viper first began to speak, Othello ignored him. His words registered in her brain, but she gave no reaction to them. She pretended that he was the wind. That he could blow and shake the leaves all he wanted to, but that she was going to pretend as if he were a gentle breeze, barely worth paying any mind to. A gentle breeze? The wind? What the hell is wrong with you? She nearly began to giggle at herself, shifting so quickly that she paid it no mind. But before she could consider, he was in her face, and she was jerking backwards with surprise as her eyes met his. “You don’t have to like me, so don’t think I’m worried about it. So long as your willing to work with me, that’s all I care about. I don’t particularly care what you think of me either. You want to know why I do not fear anything Othello?”"Enlighten me," she snapped, and he did. His words were so filled with malice and pain that Othello fought the urge to stagger back and cower. She had to remind herself that she was no longer a Sklavin. She didn't have to shake and plead for forgiveness because she toed the line. She could leap clear over the line now if she wanted to. By the time Viper had finished speaking and stalked off, Othello's anger had built again. It had been so long since she had verbally lashed out at someone. So long since she had been allowed to. With fury causing her body to tremble, she approached him this time, her lips pulling back from her teeth. "You think that's any way to live? Fueled by revenge and anger? No, I don't think I want to be like you. Because a lot of people have treated me like nothing, but I don't want to hurt them. I don't want to sink to their level. I know it's not the same. What you're doing is for the greater good, but maybe it shouldn't be all about revenge. Maybe you should actually care about the people you've saved, because believe it or not, they appreciate it and they'll end up caring about you, too. I appreciate it greatly, and the others will. You're making a huge impact on someone's life, but you go around with this Who Cares About Anything attitude, like you're too good to even realize how huge of a dent you're leaving in our lives. Not because it's a bad dent, either. I would understand if you were blocking out your emotions because you were doing something hurtful and malicious, but you're not."She was losing steam by then, looking practically distressed as she struggled to put her racing thoughts to rest. They wouldn't be quiet and she just wanted them to make sense...She shook her head hard, ears flopping. Maybe he would think it had been a bug. Maybe he would think she was nuts. Either way, she didn't care. "I don't understand because I never had anything to lose in the first place. Maybe I'm not making very much sense. Maybe I'm talking myself in circles. I don't know, I don't know anything anymore. And I don't dislike you. I just don't understand you, and I think that's the most difficult thing in the world to grasp."For once, she was allowing herself to speak truly from her heart, and it scared her. Almost immediately she fearfully shut down, snapping her jaws shut and backing away until her rump was pressed up against one of the trees. She cleared her expression, taking a deep breath before shaking her head. "No. No, I don't think I have any questions."[/blockquote]

His eyes met her eyes when she stalked up to him. Yup, he’d pissed her off. That was fine, anger was an easy emotion to deal with and ignore. He had no responsibilities to one who was just pissed at him, not that he planned to be concerned about anyone’s emotions. He waited and listened to her whole rant, and watched in a detached sense of amusement as she seemed to lose her anger the longer she talked. It was almost like tapping into an emotion and yet not. As if he knew it was supposed to be funny and yet could not let himself acknowledge the emotion. “Othello,” the name was said softly, not in a caring way just a means of gaining her attention. A name is a funny thing, with one word there is so much power. One could yell at an individual and never get their full attention, and yet often a calmly stated name would gain full focus.
Oops, she hadn’t finished. She stopped to shake her head and then continued speaking. Apparently his tirade had really upset her. His lack of emotions, or caring about others, or wanting revenge apparently upset her. She also sounded confused, as if she didn’t know how much confidence to even have in herself. Hopefully she’d get that dealt with, it could make one question themselves at rather irritating ties. Still, she really didn’t understand his reasons, that much was obvious. Hopefully for her she never would be able to truly understand him. Finally…finally she said no questions and had apparently vented all she had in her.
“Othello.” A short pause, and yet this time the softly stated word was laced with power and demand for attention. “You do not understand, and I believe you best hope you never can understand.” His eyes then narrowed at her as his emotions boiled within him again. Apparently discussing emotions was not the way to keep him happy. “It is not that I believe myself above you or the rest of the world. I told you, I don’t even worry about my pride. How can I think myself above everyone? I’m dirt, I know it. I’m self-centered, a bastard, not worth rat shit. However, I will still get what I want, and those dominor’s will still pay for their system of status. It’s wrong, and I don’t have to be good to know it.”
Viper stood up now, strode towards her and yet hardly realized he was moving. The hatred that filled that gaze could make one wonder of his own sanity. “I don’t expect to live forever with this course of life, and nothing will be lost with my death. I betrayed my family, I betray wolf society, why would I think highly of myself?” His eyes were hardly more than an inch from hers, focusing on her as if there were an answer to find in there being sought after. He didn’t speak, didn’t move, just stared at her. Deep even breaths passed with the seconds and finally he pulled back and took one step backward before sitting down, his voice again calming as he locked up that anger in himself somewhere.
“Do yourself a favor Othello, never try to understand me. All I asked you for is help, not a friend. Do not injure yourself by trying to be one. If you have no more questions then get some rest, tomorrow we will hunt whatever prey we might find.” If we don’t end up someone else’s prey tonight. Viper wasn't sure if he'd bother trying to sleep tonight. He'd managed to get his emotions relatively under control on what he showed, that didn't meant the anger wasn't still burning beneath the surface. It wasn't a focused hatred, just a nameless one that tried to take control and demand he find a way to vent it, preferably in hurting another. It was a pain he'd felt often enough that for now it could be kept on a leash. If left alone he could push it back down to the numbness he knew so well.

Othello
“Othello.”Her thoughts screeched to a halt. Blessed silence. Something about the way he commanded her attention send her flustered thoughts scrambling to the deep corners of her mind, subdued. She turned immediately towards Viper, so relieved by the silence in her head that she found herself surprised when she saw the hatred in his eyes. Right, they were arguing..but surely she hadn't made him angry enough to hate her? No, it seemed it was self hatred, and Othello felt a little pang of pity. She had been there. Many, many times. When he referred to himself as dirt, she cringed. How many times had she called herself that? How many times had she called herself stupid, pathetic, worthless, brain dead? How many times had she beaten herself up? And here she was, calling him self centered when she had no idea how she felt. Had she already forgotten how horrible it was to be called something like 'all mighty' when you truly loathed yourself? She frowned, her anger ebbing away as Viper suggested sleep. "I know.." she began, creeping closer to him. She made sure to keep a decent distance, but was close enough so that she could speak softly. "I know that you want to sleep, but I...I don't know. You're right. I don't understand and that can be very scary sometimes. Sometimes, I do wish I was like you. Because the difference between you and me is, I want things that could be taken away from me. I want things that could potentially hurt me. People who care about me. People I care about in return. Things like that, even though I have seen people ripped apart by losing loved ones many times. Am I masochistic for wanting it still?""I know that you don't want a friend. And I know that I get annoying. Believe me, I know. I'm just not very used to contact. You're the first being who I've come into contact with that has treated me kindly in months. I'm sorry that I say offensive things sometimes. I don't think.." She paused, shaking her head. "No, wait. I do think. That's my problem. I think, and I think, and I think some more and then I talk. I don't censor myself. I should. It's a real problem."She managed a weak smile, still feeling very bad for having treated him the way she did. "I'll say it again; I know you're not looking for friendship. But I am greatful, honestly. And because of that, I'll help you with whatever it is that you need to do. And if one day you ever do find that you need a friend, I'll stick around. Because I don't have anyone else to stick with."She laughed a little then, sounding more like her cheerful self. "That was cheesy. But I mean, it was true. I'm not very good at speaking from my heart, but I have my rare moments. You're right, though. We should sleep and hunt tomorrow."[/blockquote]

Oh crap, she was going to try to be understanding. She wanted to offer support, apologize, to share a bit of herself.
. You're the first being who I've come into contact with that has treated me kindly in months
What he’s been showing her was kindness? While he didn’t put too much thought or have a hell of a lot of experience with it Viper was pretty sure that getting in someone’s face and lecturing them while appearing to want to rip into something was considered less than friendly. Well, she was a sklavin and they could be screwed up. Hadn’t she already mentioned something about that early?
I'm not very good at speaking from my heart, but I have my rare moments.
Damn it all! Speaking from her heart? He’d really really just prefer she distance herself and just ignore her heart, at least where it concerned dealing with him.
You're right, though. We should sleep and hunt tomorrow."
Finally words that were worth something. Not that she really needed to state her was right, she could have just gone to sleep. Instead she’d had to move closer, open herself up, and then verbally agree with him. Terrific. “Yes, I’m right.” The words were said with more tolerance than so many of his others. Hopefully if he kept his voice even she wouldn’t feel a need to share thoughts any more tonight. Of all the sklavins to find first, he’d found one that wanted a buddy and someone to open up to. “Don’t worry either. You’re useful to me, so I will protect you. Nothing will harm you tonight. Its getting dark, welcome in the blackness of this crazy forest.” With that said he again turned his face once more away from her to look off into the mystery of the forest. Perhaps he would sleep at somepoint tonight, but not yet, not now.
Ooc – figure whenever you want we can just say they went to sleep and either continue with mornings light or continue on a new thread

Othello
Viper proved to be very unresponsive to what Othello had admitted, but instead of pitching a fit, she decided that it was fine with her. She probably truly should have worked on sharing her feelings and thoughts. She was so terrified of slipping up and letting someone see who she really was, but Viper had made it clear he had no interest in figuring out anything about Othello that wouldn't be useful to him, and maybe it was better that way. It certainly made things easier for Othello, who had been carelessly slipping up and speaking from her heart like an idiot. It seemed that the one thing she had left out of her fear list was safe enough, for the time being, if she could learn to keep quiet. She stood up and moved away from him a bit, comforted by his presense but not wanting to remain too close to him, because it seemed to make him almost..uncomfortable. With a little sigh, she settled down under one of the the trees, forcing herself to take deep breaths. Now that she wasn't speaking, she was focusing on her surroundings. It was, just as Viper had said, very dark and very confined. Her chest rose and fell a little faster than normal, but she made no noise. She knew that it would be a restless, nearly sleepless night, but that was her own problem. "G'night."* When the taddest bit of sunlight began to creep through the branches, barely enough to even light the forest, Othello got to her feet. She yawned, having slept on and off all night, and then proceeded to stretch out her stiff muscles. Normally in the mornings, she was hyper. But something about her and Viper's argument last night was nagging at her brain, and she remained uncharacteristically quiet. Silent, in fact. She was ignoring the buzzing in her head, letting her thoughts freely chatter instead of speaking in an attempt to calm them down. Feeling drowsy and tired still, Othello shook herself one final time, before she glanced from side to side, checking first for anything that might pose as a threat to her, and then for Viper. While she had decided that she would still gladly help him on his journey, she wasn't sure how to act around him anymore. Did he hate her? It was a possibility. Or maybe he didn't. Either way, she pushed the thoughts from her mind and spoke. "Morning," she said, the first and only word that she had spoken yet that day. [/blockquote]

He had spent over an hour just staring off into the forest before he had bothered lying down to sleep. Once he lay down, his eyes had slid shut but it was close to another hour before he’d fallen asleep.
Othello would find he was still right about the same spot she had seen him in when she went to sleep, only he was lying down for now. His eyes were open but for the moment just watching the ground with a lack of interest. Each breath he took was slow and even, a suggestion of quiet calmness actually about him. He could have almost been just another part of the forest with the lack of movement or expression.
"Morning,"
His next breath was deeper at the voice and he raised his head up to regard her. Yup, he guessed it was time to accept he had survived another day and had to work to complete his goals again. “Morning.” The tone wasn’t particularly nasty, it just wasn’t all that friendly either.
Getting up he stretched one leg and then the other. His head turned about from one side to the other, nose sniffing the wind and ears fully upright as he used all his senses to check the place out. “Apparently nothing felt like trying to kill us last night. This place may not feel right, but I’m thinking it’s all ghost stories and shadows. Actually a rather fitting place for a group of rogues.” As he thought about it, the place seemed all the more to his liking. Perhaps it wasn’t such a horrible morning.
“How are you feeling? Ready to hunt?” Injuries at points can hide themselves, showing up only a day or two later so might as well make sure there was nothing she wasn’t telling him about. If she was fine it would be time to learn if the sklavin was capable of hunting. “By the way, last night was your chance for questions about me. As you noticed it’s not a way to keep me in a good mood, so the chance is over.” Might as well offer a small token of consideration to hopefully not chase her off the way he was treating her. “Sorry if I was rough.” Hell, he was probably being about as nasty as many a dominor, the only difference being he’d let her leave.

Othello
“Apparently nothing felt like trying to kill us last night. This place may not feel right, but I’m thinking it’s all ghost stories and shadows. Actually a rather fitting place for a group of rogues.”Othello glanced over to him, nodding, before she began to stretch again. This time she was inspecting her own body, making sure she could move everything right, and that nothing hurt. There were a few areas where she was bruised and stiff, but nothing broken. Nothing that would keep her from running and hunting. Satisfied, she stopped and shook her fur out before glancing to Viper again. “How are you feeling? Ready to hunt?”"Ready as I'll ever be," she responded, realizing then that she was truly very hungry. It had been a while since she had hunted and been able to eat until she was full, and it showed on her slim figure. She wondered what kind of animals lurked in this forest, and if there was truly anything she should be afraid of. Would she end up being the one that was hunted, or was this place simply all smoke and mirrors? She supposed she would find out. Now that it was daylight, she wasn't as fearful as she had previously been. “By the way, last night was your chance for questions about me. As you noticed it’s not a way to keep me in a good mood, so the chance is over. Sorry if I was rough.”She frowned, glancing over her shoulder at him. Sure, he hadn't been the kindest. But what had she expected? Rainbows and butterflies now that she was free? No one had ever truly shown her kindness, aside from her brother, Cassio, and her mother. No one had ever bothered trying to show her any form of love or care. So how was this any different? To allow her feelings to be hurt by Viper's behavior would be pointless. She had long ago learned to stop letting things affect her. "I'm used to it," she responded. "Let's see what we can find."[/blockquote]

Viper watched her, noted that she was quick enough to get to business, and feeling somewhat reassured there was nothing wrong with her. This was not for any proper reasons such as caring, just that it meant he could move on with his plans quicker this way. He nodded and turned away from the direction they’d come, to move even deeper in not wanting to get too close to the entrance of the forest.
Her reply to his apology was perhaps the best thing he’d heard her say so far. A good neutral response, she was use to his style of treatment and wasn’t concerned by it. This meant that most likely he wouldn’t have to deal with her getting upset down the road when he continued acting the same way.
The more he ignored the sense of being watched, the more he acknowledged some of those eyes he imagined on him did exist, as some of those were prey animals scattered about. This was a forest, a place teaming with life, so what else was to be expected? After all, if some demon monster lived here it had to eat as well. A flash of brown movement caught his eye, his head turning to find what he had spotted. At first he wondered if he was imagining it but then he saw it, a stag, a red deer grazing farther off in the distance. If the male was there, likely there would be a cluster of females elsewhere, a bit easier to grab than the large male with antlers.
His eyes went back to Othello as he considered how he wanted to hunt, or how he wanted the female to hunt. “Are you well enough to take down a deer alone? I can keep him busy, you get us a female.” If the stag was foolish perhaps they would have two deer, but he didn’t plan to take too much of a chance when there was easier game. Time to see what the female was made of. Hunting was a simple enough matter, though a deer in this thick forest wouldn’t be so easy if she was having a hard time conquering her own sense of unease in this place. Just wait Othello…wait to see what comes after breakfast.

Othello
Silently, Othello loped along beside Viper. She tried her best to pay attention to her surroundings, but between the thick trees she was weaving through and her racing thoughts, it was difficult. Several times her fur would snag on a branch or bush and she would growl, a soft, low sound of agitation. For the most part she was able to navigate and function correctly, despite her unease at being in an enclosed place. She simply focused hard on taking deep, calming breaths. It seemed to work. When Viper paused, Othello did the same immediately, looking around sharply. Had he spotted something dangerous? She squinted in the direction that she was looking, her eyes struggling to find what gained his attention. Almost immediately, she saw the buck, and her tail began to sway slowly. It had been so long since she had hunted, and already, she was excited. She loved the way her heart pounded, the way her muscles ached, and the satisfaction she felt when she caught something. “Are you well enough to take down a deer alone? I can keep him busy, you get us a female.”Instead of immediately agreeing, Othello took a moment to truly consider it. Could she take down a doe alone? Maybe, seeing as she wasn't severely hurt. She wasn't exactly in her prime, what with her weight being a little on the low side, but surely she could overpower a deer. Especially if said deer didn't have antlers to gouge her with. Feeling quite confident, she nodded and crept closer to Viper, trying to remain at least semi-quiet when she responded to him. "I'm fairly sure I can," she said quietly, tail still swaying just slightly from the anticipation. "It might be difficult with the trees and what not, but it shouldn't be a problem."[/blockquote]

Viper stayed frozen in place keeping his eye locked in the stag, a slow nod to Othello. He wasn’t going to bother to mention it but the truth was he didn’t have all that much experience in hunting game in such a thick forest as this. Would she be able to catch one? If not he wouldn’t blame her in this, and they could always go for mice or other such smaller creatures. If Viper had his choice he’d rather run a deer down across an open plain. Of course for the moment his job was going to be keeping this horned deer busy, and let Othello worry about chasing down the deer. Jerking his head sideways he silently gave her a signal to go after their meal.
Either way, he’d already given her the signal so he had no more time to think about it. Slinking off to one side and slowly around the stag to make sure he was in between it and the herd of deer, he put his fool focus on the beast and off of Othello, he’d have to learn how she did later. Prey animal or not, it was far more natural for a wolf to hunt the females and fawns, but with such a place to hunt he didn’t want to worry about this guy cutting them off in the hunt.
Once he’d managed to get around the stag, which felt like forever he made his presence known with a growl and lunge. Let the games begin! The stag new the problem and it certainly wasn’t running from the wolf and from the job of protecting its herd. Lowered antlers were swung about threateningly with hooves stamping the ground threateningly. A competition of who could dance around and dodge in and out of teeth, antlers, and hooves had began. Perhaps the tree’s would end up being an advantage, adding some protection against the overgrown male deer. Once he heard the females run he’d give it another minute or so and then go to help Othello. The stag had a herd to protect, so how far would it run to save one doe?
