The words tumbled off his mouth so perfectly. The way he said their daughter's name, the look that shot through her, a blazing fire that burned into her soul. His eyes sparkled like the shores of some distant ocean coast and Kasimira inhaled as she tried to form words, vaguely present some expression of her churning mind. Nothing materialized. Kasimira felt her checks redden, black fur covering up her slight embarrassment at being caught off guard. No one else had ever done this to her. This strange, unnatural dizziness, with responses and actions moving in slow motion. What an idiot she acted sometimes. It was a wonder he had accepted her as his mate at all, considering her behavior at a time like this.
Kyren's thoughts jolted the she-wolf back into reality, the fickle color of Tortuga's cold eyes lingering inside of her as she tried to focus her sight on the Beta's ruby red coat. His words were jumbled mutterings to her, lost to time as it sped past her. Was she losing track of time or was it losing her? Kasimira shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. It shouldn't be this hard to focus. Rain began a light downpour from outside the cavern, Kasimira's eyes lost to study the activities outside. Her vision was clear but cloudy, her mind blank yet roaring. Roaring, throbbing with thoughts of the night she'd spend with Tortuga those weeks ago, the passion and fire that had lept through his eyes, her own growls of love and lust.
The morning after had been lovely and wretched all at the same moment. She had awoken to the warmth of Tortuga's pure white fur on hers, his breath in her ears, his scent inside her, the sweet rush of affection and hintings of love trickling into being. Phantom, that cursed Alpha, had torn her from her new love. Ha! Ironic. He should have never taken claim to a sklavin that wasn't his. Arrogance rose steadily in Kasimira's muscles as she lay on the cold floor, mind plotting, exacting revenge upon an invisible foe. She had a growing pack, a supportive mate. A beta, some sklavins. Pups. Kasimira stumbled on the last thought, called back to her daughter's name. Adelina. It was a beautiful choice in name, sweet and delicate, yet royal. Perfect.
So wrapped up in her thoughts, Kasimira had missed Kyren's decision, Zy's response. Glancing hastily at Tortuga, the ebony female blinked apologies, mind numb to all around her. Numb to everything but him. This wasn't like her, this reckless abandon. With effort this time, Kasimira slowly began to study Zy, considering him. To think she had flirted with him so openly before! He was handsome, sure. Not attractive, however.
Warmth crowded her view, the world tunneling into black as she shut her eyes, focus and concentration lost. Her thoughts continued to rage wild, uncontrolled. Pfft, she was denying herself the bold truth if she said he was only "handsome". She wouldn't mind spending the night...
Wait what? Kasimira swiftly, silently reprimanded herself, mind turning in confusion. Tortuga was hot, masculine in all forms, and had Zy beat by a landslide in the personality department. What was making her think so rashly? Honestly. Sklavins weren't her type to begin with.
With a shake of her crown, Kasimira dipped her head and softly cooed Tortuga to her side, moving the conversation from Kyren and Zy's hostile stares to the whelps that nudged her side.
"Kyren's decision stands."
In all honesty, Kasimira only had heard bits and pieces of what her Beta had said. Something of no food, something of alienating the wandering sklavin. Whatever it had been, didn't exactly matter to her at the moment; the queen's gaze was placed on her three new children.
"Welcome to your pack, little ones."
It was a soft mother's whisper, too quiet for anyone but Tortuga to overhear.
"Dresna, Marzell, and Adelina. I expect you all to work harder for their sake."
Kasimira cast a glance around the group, her eyes settling on Zy before slowly gliding back to little Marzell's face. Nostalgia overcame the Alpha, her memories over-flooding her as thoughts of her mother rushed forward. She had been told stories of the great Eperna and Iudex as pups, whispered lore from ages of long ago... That's what the pack nurse, Hekka, had been for. Hekka was an older member, long retired from pups herself, but Kasimira remembered her for the wonderful tales and stories she had spun. Her fantasies had been woven in gold, written into Kasimira's mind. Who would share those moments with her children?
"Does anyone know any stories of Eperna? To share with the pups when they're older?"
Looking up hopefully, tiredness resting gently in her facade. This was her pack. Her home. Her family.
ooc-cheesy, cheesy cheesy. ignore the horribleness of it all. bahhhhh.
