KASIMIRA "Adelina."
The words tumbled off his mouth so perfectly. The way he said their daughter's name, the look that shot through her, a blazing fire that burned into her soul. His eyes sparkled like the shores of some distant ocean coast and Kasimira inhaled as she tried to form words, vaguely present some expression of her churning mind. Nothing materialized. Kasimira felt her checks redden, black fur covering up her slight embarrassment at being caught off guard. No one else had ever done this to her. This strange, unnatural dizziness, with responses and actions moving in slow motion. What an idiot she acted sometimes. It was a wonder he had accepted her as his mate at all, considering her behavior at a time like this.
Kyren's thoughts jolted the she-wolf back into reality, the fickle color of Tortuga's cold eyes lingering inside of her as she tried to focus her sight on the Beta's ruby red coat. His words were jumbled mutterings to her, lost to time as it sped past her. Was she losing track of time or was it losing her? Kasimira shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. It shouldn't be this hard to focus. Rain began a light downpour from outside the cavern, Kasimira's eyes lost to study the activities outside. Her vision was clear but cloudy, her mind blank yet roaring. Roaring, throbbing with thoughts of the night she'd spend with Tortuga those weeks ago, the passion and fire that had lept through his eyes, her own growls of love and lust.
The morning after had been lovely and wretched all at the same moment. She had awoken to the warmth of Tortuga's pure white fur on hers, his breath in her ears, his scent inside her, the sweet rush of affection and hintings of love trickling into being. Phantom, that cursed Alpha, had torn her from her new love. Ha! Ironic. He should have never taken claim to a sklavin that wasn't his. Arrogance rose steadily in Kasimira's muscles as she lay on the cold floor, mind plotting, exacting revenge upon an invisible foe. She had a growing pack, a supportive mate. A beta, some sklavins. Pups. Kasimira stumbled on the last thought, called back to her daughter's name. Adelina. It was a beautiful choice in name, sweet and delicate, yet royal. Perfect.
So wrapped up in her thoughts, Kasimira had missed Kyren's decision, Zy's response. Glancing hastily at Tortuga, the ebony female blinked apologies, mind numb to all around her. Numb to everything but him. This wasn't like her, this reckless abandon. With effort this time, Kasimira slowly began to study Zy, considering him. To think she had flirted with him so openly before! He was handsome, sure. Not attractive, however.
Warmth crowded her view, the world tunneling into black as she shut her eyes, focus and concentration lost. Her thoughts continued to rage wild, uncontrolled. Pfft, she was denying herself the bold truth if she said he was only "handsome". She wouldn't mind spending the night...
Wait what? Kasimira swiftly, silently reprimanded herself, mind turning in confusion. Tortuga was hot, masculine in all forms, and had Zy beat by a landslide in the personality department. What was making her think so rashly? Honestly. Sklavins weren't her type to begin with.
With a shake of her crown, Kasimira dipped her head and softly cooed Tortuga to her side, moving the conversation from Kyren and Zy's hostile stares to the whelps that nudged her side.
"Kyren's decision stands."
In all honesty, Kasimira only had heard bits and pieces of what her Beta had said. Something of no food, something of alienating the wandering sklavin. Whatever it had been, didn't exactly matter to her at the moment; the queen's gaze was placed on her three new children.
"Welcome to your pack, little ones."
It was a soft mother's whisper, too quiet for anyone but Tortuga to overhear.
"Dresna, Marzell, and Adelina. I expect you all to work harder for their sake."
Kasimira cast a glance around the group, her eyes settling on Zy before slowly gliding back to little Marzell's face. Nostalgia overcame the Alpha, her memories over-flooding her as thoughts of her mother rushed forward. She had been told stories of the great Eperna and Iudex as pups, whispered lore from ages of long ago... That's what the pack nurse, Hekka, had been for. Hekka was an older member, long retired from pups herself, but Kasimira remembered her for the wonderful tales and stories she had spun. Her fantasies had been woven in gold, written into Kasimira's mind. Who would share those moments with her children?
"Does anyone know any stories of Eperna? To share with the pups when they're older?"
Looking up hopefully, tiredness resting gently in her facade. This was her pack. Her home. Her family.
ooc-cheesy, cheesy cheesy. ignore the horribleness of it all. bahhhhh.

MATRID
*
Any time now. Conflict.
Matrid listened intently the whole time that Kyren spoke, ears perked forward and eyes flickering with her curiousity as to what Zy's punishment would be. As it turned out, it was alienation. Well, that's not as bad as I thought it was going to be. She thought to herself, relieved. Kyren's speech had been slightly uplifting. In the beginning, Matrid had been weary about Kasimira claiming her. She had forseen pain and suffering, as most Dominor's tended to enjoy inflicting. But not once had Kasimira proceeded with the intention of harming Matrid, and in turn, Matrid felt almost...loyal to the pack. Loyal to her Alphas, to her mate, and to the one friend she had made. Loyal to the newborn pups, who she would certainly die protecting. One look at their tiny faces had confirmed that, and they weren't even her own. But she could see how much they meant to Kasimira and her mate, and because of that, Matrid would have gladly fought for them.
Her thoughts were shattered by Zy's voice, which made it very clear that he would not take Kyren's punishment lying down.
He was condescending and mocking when he spoke, his voice making Matrid cringe back a little. He made it perfectly clear that he didn't feel the same way that Matrid did about the pack. So how would Zy deal with his punishment? Perhaps by trying to lure others into speaking to him. She snorted softly to herself at the thought. Lure? Don't make him sound so...sinister. No, Matrid didn't see him as sinister. Arrogant, stubborn, if not slightly handsome, sure. But not sinister.
"Kyren's decision stands."
Kasimira's tone, which always seemed to demand Matrid's attention, had the gray she-wolf turning her head towards the Queen. So she agreed with Kyren's punishment. Well, that was that, then. Matrid dipped her head to show her understanding before her gaze once more slid down to where the pups lay, nuzzled against their mother's side. A small smile tugged at her lips, pulling them up just slightly at the corners. She didn't dare venture closer, knowing that she had no right, but that didn't stop her from silently observing them. They certainly were tiny little things, so delicate and fragile at that stage in their life. She knew very little about pups, but she could only wonder when their eyes would open, when they would begin to walk.
"Dresna, Marzell, and Adelina. I expect you all to work harder for their sake."
Such lovely names for such lovely pups, or so Matrid thought. She nodded once more, eagerly this time. She knew that the heirs of Irrsin were extremely important. For a moment, her thoughts flickered to the brute that Kasimira had fought weeks ago, the one she had defeated. Was he bitter? Was there any possibility that he would seek revenge on Kasimira, and in turn, her pups? Matrid had to struggle to keep her hackles from rising at that thought. Barely managing to keep her fur smoothed down, she shook her head just slightly to clear the thoughts. Now was not the time.
Kasimira wondered aloud about their knowledge of Eperna to share with the pups, and Matrid was immediately taken back to her childhood. As a pup, the rare times that she had seen her mother had been precious. Her mother had filled her head with stories of freedom, of life, and of the Gods. They were dim memories now, her mother's words faded and distant.
"It's been a while since I was told any of them," she admitted, her tail swaying back and forth as she immersed herself in her memories, attempting to drag up any story that she could. "but I was told a few, as a pup. If I can recall them, I'd be delighted to share, Lady."
[/font][/size]
Tortuga
Dresna, Marzell, and Adelina.
Tortuga's heart thrummed, the names eternally commited to his memory. He edged closer to Kasimira, ivory fur greeting ebony like an old friend as his side pressed against hers. As Kyren began to speak, Tortuga peered over his mate's sides, his ears twitching as they absorbed the Beta's speech. The rest of him, however, was completely enthralled with the dark she-wolf beside him and their pups. For a moment his gaze flickered up, eyes meeting and holding hers for a long moment before he broke away, only so that he could get another good look at the pups. What words could possibly be used to describe them? What words would ever be enough?
Zy's words drew his attention and he glanced up sharply, eyes narrowing a bit as he fixed them on first the Sklavin, and then the Beta who had dictated his punishment. What was it that Kyren had said? He'd been listening, faintly...Oh, right. No food, no interaction. Three days. Well, that had certainly surprised Tortuga. He had expected a harsher punishment from Kyren. He was, admittedly, impressed. He nodded briefly to Kyren, a quick dip of his cranium that displayed his silent approval, before he glanced to the others. Zy had finished his little explosion of speech, it seemed, and both Calliope and Matrid were huddled together, apprehensive of...the two males in the center of the room, perhaps? He was uncertain.
Kasimira voiced her agreement to Kyren's decision, and then spoke the pup's names again, which sent another little flutter through Tortuga's stomach. What was the sensation he was feeling? Butterflies? No, he wouldn't call them that - he did not get butterflies. Barely managing to contain a grin, his thoughts wandered to his own father, who had always been distant and envious at best. The thought had Tortuga sobering, his expression blanking as he silently vowed that he would never treat his own three pups the way that he had been treated.
"Does anyone know any stories of Eperna? To share with the pups when they're older?"
After Matrid had finished offering her own willingness to share what she could remember, Tortuga shook his head slowly. He knew very little of Eperna, with the exception of his own recent personal experience with her. He assumed that any experience with Eperna was one worth sharing, and he would be more than glad to do so in the future. Kyren and Calliope may have preffered to keep their own experiences to themselves, which was fine as well. But Tortuga felt the need for his pups to know how truly glorious Eperna was.
"I was never told stories of the Gods as a pup." He shrugged his shoulders just slightly. "But, I can tell them of what I just experienced at Hagen Mesa."
He offered a smile first to Kasimira and then to the pups, although they couldn't see it. He felt content, sure and secure with his frame surrounded by others wolves, by other members of his pack. He glanced from face to face again, realizing that he had found the place he had been looking for. For years he had wandered about, wondering if he would ever find a place he could safely dub 'home'. And, finally, it seemed that he had.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,250,true][bg=black] X.x "Quote" thought "speech" text x.X
I used up all of my tricks
"Oh God. Wait--wait-- I need to catch my breath. Where'd you hear all that shit from, the prep school daddy sent you to so's you'd learn how to.. how'd you word it.. Man, for get it. Am I the only one who found the talking thing funny?"
Perhaps a beta should be surprised when a sklavin would dare speak to him that way. Unless of course that sklavin was Zy. Kyren still had thought he might be a bit smarter than this. Why had he thought such a thing? Apparently it was hard to accept just how stupid this sklavin was. He would have commented on the improper speech, or lectured Zy more to say but the foolish wolf was considering. Well, the more idiocy he said, the deeper he dug himself into the pit. That snickering sound he was making though…Ky really just wanted to bash his paw across his head just once before letting him finish. A leg twitched, but held, best to let the fool continue.
"In case you haven't noticed, I'm a slave. Now, I know you might be new to this whole thing, but ever think 'bout just maybe I didn't ask to be stuck in a pack? Maybe I don't give a damn about unity, functionality, whatever BS you were sayin' earlier."
“and all of this just proves you deserve the status of sklavin, fool.” The words were said just as Zy was at least smart enough to thank kasimira for saving him. Seriously, as far as Kyren was concerned this wolf would never lose his status as sklavin. He didn’t even deserve to be called a wolf.
"If you want me to mesh, why shut up me up? How you expect me t' make friends that way Rusty "Or are you just afraid I'll say something to hurt your wittle new shiny Beta badge? Not that it means anything to me anyway." "You're still as worthless as you were before."
I hope that you like this, but you probably won't
Kyren heard the ladies words that his decision would stand, the punishment would be enacted. However he could not let Zy’s insults pass, both as a beta demanding respect, and as the proud wolf he was who didn’t care to be insulted by anyone, much less sklavins!
It was amazing the calm that suddenly came over Kyren. Unfortunately for Zy it was the same type of calm as being in the eye of a tornado. It was not a safe place to be. Kyren kept his gaze on Zy alone, but for a moment in that calm he had a good sense of where everyone else was, by scent and sound more than sight. It was as if he was watching the den from above, observing it all. A flicker of a smile showed on Kyren’s face for all of about one breath before his ears flattened, lips pulled back to reveal his fangs, and eyes that seemed to want to bore straight through zy’s skull. Kyren’s muscles bunched up, sprang forward to take one slash of zy’s muzzle with his left paw. Snarling, he somehow managed to back up, digging out the effort to speak instead of murder. It was rather hard, and the only reason he could do it was reminding himself over and over he was above the sklavin. Too randomly attack and not think of pack would make him lower. The one slash was however, expectable.
you think you're cooler than me
Still, when he spoke the anger was quite clear in his tone, which came as barely held back snarls. “How dumb are you sklavin? I am your beta and you insult me? Why I do things is no concern to a sklavin who tries to hide idiocy by sprouting arrogant crap. Insult me again, you get far more than one slash!”Kyren looked back to the other two sklavins, still working to control that anger, taking slow deep breaths. Too be insulted by that thing! He would have verified with the two sklavins that they understood, but the alpha had other things she wanted discussed. Either way, when his gaze went to Matrid most of the hatred suddenly melted away. He stared at her for a few seconds intensly before snorting at himself and looking back to the two alphas. Once more he was in control.
“Lady, to be honest my arrogant father spoke little of Eperna. However, like Tortuga I would be willing to share with you what happened.” A soft, more whispered three words, “I met her…” the tone still showed his own shock of being allowed such an honor. He wanted to look back to Matrid suddenly, wanted to share with her what he’d learned, but this was not the time.

[atrb=width,500,true][atrb=border,0,true][bg=000000]
It was curious how two wolves could completely alter the entire atmosphere of a single location. The air was electrified with snarled sentences and the tension was thick and almost tangible. While the two males continued to exude aggression they were nearly oblivious to the changes they caused, and who was actually affected by them. The more submissive Calliope caved to the pressure, where as the alphas could of cared less, not that Zy would have noticed any. Right now all his acute observation senses were absorbed in deciphering any expression, slight position shift, any change at all in Kyren, and it appeared the other male was doing the same. It was their own sphere generated from clashing ideals; an invisible encircling shroud slowly solidifying their hostility until some outside force broke through and reconnected them to the rest of the world. A bronze flame tore across gold flecked orbs and licked at his soul. That guy could spout all the nonsense he wanted to about being a true wolf, to Zy, he was the tamed one.
"Kyren's decision stands."
Kasimira's voice pierced through their isolating bubble and dragged Zy back to reality. Breaking the extended staring contest he was having with Kyren, he directed his gaze at the Queen, though with no hint of the same hostility. She sounded so distant, as if her physical presence had detached itself and the rest was off in some fuzzy blanket of motherhood... or love. Zy swore he felt a pang of jealousy from deep within his subconscious, but wasn't sure why, or towards who. It wasn't the new white presence in the small den, matters of the heart weren't something he believed could trigger envy, but, what else could it be. He glanced briefly at the small bundles of wiggling fluff nuzzling their mother. Could it be those tiny fuzzballs? 'Of course, I would be enough of a whore to get jealous of puppies.' He sighed inwardly at himself. At least when they were old enough they'd be at the stage where they could replace their mother's attention-filling void, assuming Zy lived long enough to see that day.
That brought the male back to the realization of his punishment. All in all, it was total weak-sauce. Who was gonna stop him from talking? Who was gonna play watch-dog and make sure he stuck near the dens? Wouldn't that just be counter productive, especially since Kyren's rational for not staking him to a tree to spend some quality time with his favorite feathered friends was functionality? Zy realized how easy he got off, and was gonna get his full 3 days of fun out of it. Hell, maybe he'd even get it extended to a full week of not-so-silent miming. Sounded like more fun than a field of slutty fems in heat, oh baby. Tearing himself from his sick little happy place, he turned his attention back to Kyren.
Pain. A sharp twisting fire all too familiar to the male spread up from his wounded snout, tendrils of scraping heat clawing across his skin as his head followed the contour of Kyren's swipe. A small spatter of red lifted by the impact scattered around the marks on his upper jaw and then to the earth floor. Dust mixed with blood as it landed, an insignificant pool, staining the ground. The sensation spread with the maroon water, washing over him in a wave of stinging ecstasy. A contradictory bliss that was so wonderful in the most self destructive way it brought a faint grin to his facade. The physical meeting the ethereal together in a horrible, tangible, form before being swept away as nothing more than liquid dotting the dust. It was amazing how such a simple strike could send a rush of adrenaline through every vein, dulling the open wound, while enhancing every other sensory stimuli for that brief moment. The world was more than just a separate entity with whom Zy happened to share the same temporal field-- no, he was a part of it. He was something. But as the platelets clotted and the stream ceased to no more than a small trickle, so too did his connected, enlightened, feeling. He was back in limbo again; back to his jester mask, not knowing which way was up, and stuck in consuming darkness that threatened to devour his insignificant life.
Kyren's words fell on deaf ears while Zy clung to the shreds of feeling, trying to delay sinking back into that stagnant place. A jumbled fusion of anger and arrogant joy rumbled around his spent emotional processor, defaulting to his traditional mischievous arching grin. Kyren looked thoroughly upset, which just made him even happier. He had gotten the reaction he was looking for, not quite the snarling ball of fur he'd wanted, but a reaction nonetheless.
"I win."
His smirk grew wider, practically laughing at the beta through yellowed eyes. As long as Zy could push Kyren's buttons and pull his strings, that wolf would never deserve anything higher than six feet under. It wouldn't get beta boy in trouble with the alphas, but half of his directive still was a success, and that was still pretty good to the jester of a sklavin.
Zy now back to his typical honor role student behavior heard Kasimira's question of the gods and goddesses and any stories they might have. As Tortuga and Kyren mentioned their visits to Hangen Mesa Zy remembered that he'd skipped out on that holiday this year. Maybe he'd have to go and try to have a chat with one of them later, who knows. He wondered if he could use the higher beings as some excuse to talk. Like he was gonna follow the rules anyway.
"I'm not allowed to talk. Don't look at me."
He wasn't much for the constellation based beings' sacrifices, or holidays, but did think of them as friendly stalkers that just lurked around, popped out to talk every once in a while, then slunk back off behind their one way mirror. Sure, he'd had his moment with Turpa, back in the days when Sir's death was still the only thing he ever dreamed about, but it wasn't anything he wanted to bring up, especially not in front of these characters. There were also the stories he picked up on the road while he was still a free-roamer. He'd hear from word of mouth old legends, new miracles, horrible disasters, all the ups and downs of having divine overlords, but once again, it was his business. He'd tell those whiney attention puffs his fantastical stories himself when he was good and ready to. A dominor born in a pack couldn't possibly tell the stories right. Plus, Zy's interpretations of their voices made it the best thing ever, and no one could ever top that.

Calliope The world came to a stop as Kyren lashed out and struck Zy. Calliope could only watch, waiting for all hell to break lose. She was in the middle of trying to decide whether to run now, or after the two arrogant males started trying to murder each other, when Zy spoke.
"I win."
That's it? Calliope shook her head slightly. Just when she thought she finally had Zy's personality figured out, he got confusing again.
"Dresna, Marzell, and Adelina. I expect you all to work harder for their sake."
Kasimira's words turned Calliope's attention to the pups. Moving slightly closer, she stared down at the heaps of skin and fur in the shelter of her mistress' belly. The sight of the tiny lives brought up buried thoughts and feelings. Calliope felt her motherly instincts roar up inside chest, lamenting her lost pups and cursing the one who took them from her. These feelings development into a burning jealousy. Kasimira lied there, safe and secure in her pups future. Calliope felt like that at one time. Why should Kasimira get to keep her children when Calliope was deprived of hers? A dark thought drifted into her mind, urging her to take action. For a moment, Calliope was about to follow it. Then the commanding voice of Kasimira cut through the fog of rage in her head, bringing reason with it.
"Does anyone know any stories of Eperna? To share with the pups when they're older?"
The other pack members offered their reservoirs of knowledge about legends and folk lore. Calliope stood in a daze, reeling from the sheer number of emotions that had filled her only moments before. "I know some stories, Lady Kasimira," she stated, unsure if anyone heard her. She used to tell stories to her pups when they cried; the steady rhythm of her voice comforting them until they fell asleep. A sudden lump appeared in her throat. She looked away from the new pack members to clear it and noticed Zy sitting on the other side of the den.
"I'm not allowed to talk. Don't look at me."
Of course, his punishment. How would she approach it? She wanted to be on his side, but what little courage she had deserted her when she thought of defying authority. With everyone else occupied by the pups, she tried to meet Zy's eyes. She gave him a small smile, hoping a little encouragement would be enough, not that he acted like he needed it.
