KASIMIRA "Kasimira and I are expecting pups."
It was short, sweet, to the point. But to Kasimira his lyrics were divine, the way they floated and dipped through the thick air, gentle in some aspects and boastfully prideful in others. Tortuga would make a lovely father figure for her children, with his strong ways and unmatched prowess. The black she-wolf's fur began to lie flat, taking time to survey her pack.
Calliope. Sweet, nurturing even though she was dutifully respectful. Kyren. Bold, yet not without reason, and now her Beta. Matrid. Bulky for a female but quiet and respectful. Korie. Eh. That was where the picture went fuzzy. The black she-wolf whose coat resembled her own had not been with the harem long; hopefully she would play her placid part well. Silly me! She'd forgotten Zy. The trickster, flirtatious demon he was... What would he think of her new mate? What would he think of her pregnancy?
"... Even with you being sexy enough to count as two there's more than this in a harem, no offense. "
Those playful, coy words came swiftly back to her, reverberating as she considered them. Sure, he had been a good brute to mess with in her single state but the same, prodding behavior couldn't--wouldn't--hold up now. Not with Tortuga. The ebony she-wolf shot her mate a glance. What would he think of the black pelted Casanova? Granted, she had held a small flame of affection for him at one time... Kasimira's blue eyes flickered in the darkness as Calliope's wavering voice cut abruptly through her troubled thoughts.
"Con-congratulations, my lady,"
Was that surprise lingering in her eyes? Narrowing her eyes the alpha said nothing, dipping her head as if she hadn't spotted the vague uncertainty that had glittered there. Sure, she had never exactly planned for this happen--never had she planned on having her own pups, actually--, but Tortuga was so d*mn attractive; easily too much to ignore. Those flashing cerulean optics gleaming from a pale, white coat. He glistened like snow to her, pure and innocent. Well. Heh. Kasimira chuckled at the thought of the night they had shared together being called "innocent". Not by any means.
"Congratulations to you both."
Korie's soft voice drifted her way, meek in tone. Black fur ruffling, Kasimira blinked her thanks, trying to ease the silence that had suddenly enveloped the cavern. Was it a crazy idea? Her? With puppies? Kasimira tilted her head at Tortuga, nuzzling him as if looking for reassurance. What was he thinking? If only she could read minds. Hmph. Why hadn't Eperna given her that as a gift?
Eperna! It was with a jolt that Kasimira remembered the season. Summer. The ending of summer to be precise. And that meant Eperna's summer festivities would be happening all over the country. Celebrations and sacrifices would be presented to the goddess on the Hagen Mesa, some wolves searching and pleading for a better stock of prey, others requesting freedom. Her pack must attend! To not would be punishable by the great deity herself and with puppies on the way it was unwise to ignore her with such audacity.
Kasimira looked disdainfully at her broken leg. If she wanted to be walking by the time of her birthing she needed to rest. The thought pained her to the core; running as the free wolf does was a great privilege that most would take for granted. Before it had never struck her as lucky that all of her limbs had been unscathed up to this point. Now, however, it was apparent how handicapped she was and the blood boiled viciously in her veins at the thought. Crippled. That's what you are. She let loose a soft growl, closing her eyes as if reprimanding herself. Kasimira nudged Tortuga, her eyes gazing at him in question.
"Will you take a sklavin or two to Eperna's festival for me?"
It was a question. Kasimira was never one to simply ask; she was the demanding, you-better-do-it type. How sweet of her.
"But before that, we should hunt."
With a dancing of fire in her icy eyes, Kasimira limped up, her nares flaring. She dearly missed the feeling of the hunt, the wind rushing through her fur, the excitement of running wild, the taste of blood as the scent hit the air. It sent shivers up her spine thinking about such things. Regardless, Tortuga would have to lead their efforts tonight. Lead them well, love.

I used up all of my tricks
Kyren’s eye followed each wolf as they entered the cave. Tilting his head to one side there was the barest hint of a nod back at Matrid, but still no feeling shown in those eyes. What was she thinking? How much of her body posturing was act and how much was for him? Secrets. There would likely be only more as time continued to pass. The weight of responsibility on him was both for beta and for a mate he dare not announce and yet still care for. Well, it was unlikely he’d ever be bored or without anything to think on.
The new wolf must be a sklavin, the way it slunk in and moved somewhat behind Calliope spoke of rather limited confidence, if any confidence. It would be good when they had wolves that were more than sklavins he could care for, wolves that deserved attention. Kyren still wasn’t sure what he made of Calliope in concerns to Zy and his leaving. He wouldn’t say a word about it, not when he had no facts and only details that did not add up enough to his liking.
I hope that you like this, but you probably won't
Pups? Kyren shifted his head about for a better look at his two alpha’s, ears pricking up a bit straighter facing them at that. Well, it certainly was not expected that they would have pups, actually in a pack this size it was a necessity, but he hadn’t necessarily expected to find that they had already taken care of that. An elegantly slow nod off his head, this time unlike all his previous nods as a sklavin, his eyes did not face the ground but continued facing the alpha’s. “Congratulations. From what I have seen of you so far, I expect these pups will be quite strong willed and shall help our small pack grow into one worthy of you.” Yes, part of it was about sounding good, but it was also a true statement. If he was going to be with this pack a while it was important to him that it became worthy of him. Those eyes sparkled as he imagined how fun it would be to test the lady Kas at some point in a battle of wills.
Turning his head forward again he was about to get another look at the newcomer when he realized the lady had been looking down at her leg. Ah yes, you know what it feels like to have physical limitations? Is this a first for you lady? Bitter amusement filled him, and it likely didn’t matter which wolf the injury had happened too. Some dark part of him liked knowing he wasn’t alone in the suffering when part of one’s body is damaged. Not a very proper thought to have in concern to an alpha you are loyal too. Fortunately most wolves cared more about one’s actions than their thoughts.
you think you're cooler than me
"Will you take a sklavin or two to Eperna's festival for me?"
Eperna’s festival. Crap, what was he going to bring to it this year? His eyes went distant for a moment as he considered all he wanted. What do I desire? To be alpha. To safely admit Matrid is his mate without concern for negative side effects. To be wiser so he could make himself a greater alpha. To have his other senses be heightened. To be strong and fast enough to win any challenge he ever got into. Revenge against his brother. Most of those desires were relatively new, the only repetitive one in fact was being alpha. Not that he hadn’t wanted to be strong or intelligent before, but he’d already assumed he was strong enough, intelligent enough. He’d been at the top of his world, then he fell and reality struck. Still meant to be an alpha, but he’d quit assuming he was the best wolf in the world. I will be the best though, just watch. Back on topic, what to bring?
"But before that, we should hunt."
Apparently he’d have a short bit of time to consider what to bring, but how much time? Got to stick to the present! New beta, show well! Standing up, that chest still out and head proudly he waited for the other sklavins to exit, wanting a word with the lady privately before the hunt began. His eyes flicked to Matrid quickly but dared not signal her in any way. His focus breaking from her he again watched the sklavins a whole waiting silently. He could lead, but as the alpha had made clear previously, while the alpha’s were around he needn’t offer commands. When the sklavins were out of the den he’d offer her a small bow, “May I speak with you quietly first?” The words were somewhat hushed, and seemed respectful enough.

MATRID
*
"Kasimira and I are expecting pups."
Matrid had to admit, this was the last thing she had been expecting. She had been thinking of...what? Battles? Bad news? Anything but this. Not that she saw the pups as a bad thing. It was quite obvious by Tortuga and Kasimira's expressions that neither of the Alpha's saw the pups as a negative thing, obviously, and therefore, neither did Matrid. In fact, Tortuga looked so happy and proud, Kasimira so affectionate, that Matrid felt a warm reaction stirring within her. Would it be like that with her and Kyren one day?
"Congratulations." Matrid's voice was genuine and warm, her tail swaying back and forth slightly. She knew that when the pups were born, it would be the whole pack's responsibility to watch out for them if need be, to protect them if the need ever arose. Matrid had never been around pups before, not aside from her siblings and she had been young then herself. She was already curious as to what they would be like, who they would resemble in both personality and appearance. Dominant. They would be dominant, that she knew. Just like their parents.
"Will you take a sklavin or two to Eperna's festival for me?"
Matrid snapped out of her thoughts, looking up at Kasimira as she spoke. Her words had been directed at Tortuga, and Matrid remembered for perhaps the first time what season it was. She had been so caught up with the busy pack that she had nearly forgotten. She wondered if she would be one of the ones to be escorted to the festival, wondering if she wanted to go. Well of course you want to go. It would be extremely disrespectful not to.
Kasimira spoke again, and Matrid's tail truly did wag this time. Hunting. She was ravenous, and it had been a long time since she had ran with others. Just the thought of it thrilled her, made her heart pound with anticipation. She forced herself to be still, her eyes roaming over the others. What would it be like to hunt with them? It had been slightly strained with her previous master and his slaves, but already she felt closer to the sklavins here than she ever had to the others. Perhaps she would enjoy this more.
She glanced to Kyren quickly before looking away, noticing the way his eyes flicked to Kasimira and immediately realizing that perhaps he wished to speak privately with her. Dipping her head down low respectfully to first the two Alpha's and then the Beta, she retreated out of the den where she then lowered herself onto her haunches to wait for the others.
The sun was higher in the sky now, and almost immediately it began to warm her. It was slightly irritating, what with her thick fur, but she set to ignoring it as she waited for the others to file out. There was a gentle breeze blowing, making the heat slightly more bearable. Overall, she had to admit that it was quite a glorious day.
Perfect for hunting.
Tortuga As the skalvin's offered their congratulations to Tortuga and his mate, the white brute's pride only swelled. He couldn't deny it, he was excited about the upcoming pups. Everything about the idea of Kasimira carrying his pups pleased him, and he simply couldn't wait to lay his gorgeous blue eyes on them for the first time. A soft growl from Kasimira drew his attention to her, alert at the slightest sign. She nudged him softly and in turn he leaned against her, not to much as to put his weight on her, but more of a gentle brushing of their bodies. He was careful, cautious of her injuries, the last thing he ever intended to do being to hurt her. He felt no pity for her; no, he knew she would never want that. Rather he felt a small amount of sympathy, for the pain he knew she much be feeling, and a fierce pride for her handling herself so well. She truly was a vision. "Will you take a sklavin or two to Eperna's festival for me?"He nodded, understanding immediately that she needed rest. Eperna's festival was something that Tortuga knew of, of course, but personally had never participated in. Canines might gasp and gawk at him for that, but the brute had simply never found the time to include himself in the...festivities. Now, however, it appeared as if he would get his chance. Naturally. You're an Alpha now, you don't want to bring misfortune to your pack. He turned his gaze back to Kasimira. "Of course I will. Simply tell me which you have in mind and I'll escort them.""But before that, we should hunt."Hunt. The word instantly had his ears perked forward, eyes sparkling. Oh, how Tortuga loved to hunt. How he adored feeling the wind whipping against his pelt, the rich dirt and grass briefly clinging to his pawpads with each step, the triumphant glory of feeling his prey give way beneath him. And to do so with the others? Ah, he imagined it would be glorious. Soon enough, I'll find out. He couldn't resist a small smile at the thought, his gaze once more falling onto each present canine in turn, mind wandering. “May I speak with you quietly first?” His gaze snapped back to Kyren, bright eyes assessing the new Beta as he spoke to Kasimira. Tortuga knew that it wasn't necessary for him leave with the sklavins, but he supposed he would allow Kyren to speak with Kasimira in a truly private matter, just out of slightly respect for the Beta. He glanced from the retreating forms of the others and back to Kasimira, nudging her one last affectionate time. "I'll wait outside and allow you two to speak. Besides, I need to get to know the others." A half-smile followed his words before the brute was trotting out into the bright sunlight. He squinted for a moment as his eyes adjusted to the light, ears flicking with agitation at the overbearing sun as he paused to shake himself. Tortuga wasn't a fan of heat, not with his heavy coat. He'd much rather be tromping through the snow right now, but that wasn't an option just yet. Instead, he turned his eyes to the sklavins, his gaze flickering to the newest addition specifically. He still knew nothing about her, so he took a few steps towards her, posture relaxed. "I didn't seem to catch your name."His tone was light, casual enough. There was no cruel undertone, nothing demanding as of yet. He watched her expectantly, his gaze occasionally moving to the other sklavins present and back again.

I have absolutely no muse right now, so just skip me for this round. I'll have something next time, I promise.
