Pollux
"Emotive unstable, you're like an unwinding cable car
Listening for voices, but it's the choices that make us who we are"
Listening for voices, but it's the choices that make us who we are"
this is me in the flesh,
NAME: Pollux
NICKNAME(S): --
PRONUNCIATION: PAHL-uks
POSITION: Dominor
taste the sky,
AGE: 4 years
GENDER: Male
BREED: Maned
HEIGHT: 37 inches
APPEARANCE:
Pollux's coat is a rusty red color, with black-tipped hairs that give it more of a brown hue. From the base of his head to the top of his rump runs a black stripe. White stains bits of his cheeks and the underside of his muzzle, as if he had just laid it in white paint. The fur is thick and usually unruly, as he does not care what it looks like. His ears are small and rounded at the tip, sitting more on top of his head rather then to the side. The fur on his cheeks is slightly longer than the rest of his face, which frames his short muzzle. Though Pollux is tall for a wolf, good hunting and muscle keep his body fat in balance. His legs are thin and spindly, almost like a circus performer on stilts, and their black hue form a nice contrast to the rusty red of his body. The ends of his lips curl up very slightly, giving him an amused look on his face. Odd expressions hide in his dark green eyes, and staring into them is like looking into a murky green pond where, though no one can see it, activity rages below the surface.
thoughts that make me go insane,
PERSONALITY: Pollux has essentially two personalities, due to schizophrenia. His main personality is difficult to pin down, as he has an odd level of disconnect from the world. He is very simple-minded, or at least it seems that way. His decisions and moods are erratic, changing with the wind. Pollux is hostile and wary of other wolves, unable to understand the meaning behind many of their actions. If he feels threatened, he will attack first and ask questions later. Sometimes he will talk as if to another wolf, but will really be having a conversation with himself--literally. Pollux is conscious of his second personality, but doesn't realize that it is not a separate entity.
Pollux's second personality is affectionately referred to as Castor. Castor is shrewd, intelligent, and ambitious. Despite this, he is as close to sane as it gets in Pollux's mind. Castor is obsessed with becoming an Alpha and having the best of everything. Castor, however, is merely a plotter. He cannot override Pollux's opinions and needs Pollux on his side to carry out his plans. Pollux is not very dependable, though, as he cannot be trusted to stay obedient. As he is a part of Pollux's brain, Castor can, in a sense, take over Pollux's body. Pollux has no memory of anything he has ever done as Castor, though Castor sometimes feeds him information when necessary.
all over my shoulder,
FATHER: Unknown
MOTHER: Keria
SIBLINGS: Named after the seven dwarves. :)
HISTORY: Pollux was one of an astonishing eight pups born to his mother. With so many pups demanding Keria's attention and no one to help, Pollux was largely ignored, allowing his split personality to develop uninterrupted. From his siblings point of view, he was treated like any other brother. However, Pollux could not distinguish between play fighting and a real brawl, and could not understand why his siblings kept attacking him. Pollux learned quickly how to fight back, learning new and better ways to pin opponents through trial and error. His brothers and sisters began to avoid playing with him, though everyone just assumed he had a dominant personality. As he and his siblings grew larger, Pollux's fighting style grew more vicious. While before his family was willing to brush him off as eager to win, he was quickly becoming dangerous. Castor was already in residence in a small corner of Pollux's mind, and he saw the many young wolves around him as threats to his own comfort. Castor fed Pollux ideas; his siblings stole his food, his sleeping places, attention from his mother. Shouldn't they be punished? Shouldn't they be . . . eliminated?
Luckily, Pollux was never able to carry out Castor's plan. Keria finally saw that Pollux was too violent to keep around. One night she invited him out on a walk and he gladly followed. She took him out beyond any part of the territory he had explored before, told him to go find food, and returned to her den alone. Pollux did as she said and hunted, but soon realized she was nowhere to be found. Castor suspected what had happened and urged Pollux to continue on. Castor was enraged that Keria would abandon him like that and vowed then to become an Alpha, leader of so large and devoted a pack that the entire world would either fear or revere him. Pollux seemed to simply forget his entire life up until then and was happy to wander. However, there was both Pollux and Castor. Pollux did not like other wolves and tried to avoid them, while Castor needed the pack life and strove to seek them out. Therefore, Pollux switches between roaming the free lands and trespassing in the pack territories, though Castor tries his hardest to get Pollux to remain in a pack.
