K A S I M I R A Against a backdrop of a rich blue sky and equally vibrant grasses, the black wolf tilted her head back and let loose a hunting howl. Even if it had trembled in pitch over the past few moons, it now strode forward into the meadow strong and undaunted, almost arrogant. It fluttered and sank into the crevices of Irrsin's edges, laying out like the stark blackness of her pelt against the newly greened meadow grasses. This was the Irrsin alpha of freezing ice and grim nightmares. This is what she had become. She strode forward from the dens, observing the skies as she waited for Adler, Lanze, and Dresna to join her. Kasimira, against all the odds and heartbreak that had played out, was finally beginning to act like herself again. It had certainly been rough for the pack. Their numbers had dwindled during the harshness of winter as deer and the mere energy to provide became scare. It was a worse blow, considering the loss of the rest during the fire last summer. Sometimes she couldn't find sleep for thinking about them and how disappointed Tortuga was in their loss. Tortuga. Oh, how she missed him. She missed that white fur and confidence, that warmth at night, that desire staring back at her... No. She couldn't wait to live anymore. She had a pack that needed her, that desperately needed her leadership and guidance, now more than ever. Today was no day for drowning thoughts. Maybe she would stop by the falls later and resume her considerations for the losses and for Tortuga. Maybe she'd even stop to pray to Eperna for mercies on the rest of her pack. Either way, now was the time for the future of the pack. Lanze and Adler had grown into strong, capable males to support Irrsin and there was a simple echoing joy in that. This would be their first hunt, and figuratively, their complete acceptance into the pack. They would run as Irrsin blood until their paws could walk no more, or until the Gods rained down stars. Kasimira, her blue eyes light as she waited, thought only of Calliope. "I promise I'll take care of them, Calli."NOTE: ROUGH. In the time following his ordeal with lowlifes who had tormented and tortured him when the fire happened, Gabriel had found himself back in his pack's company after the determination of getting there led him. Though he grew back most of his fur, his front paws along with patches on his back were still completely bare of fur. Since his arrival back, He did nothing but respect and do what he was asked, along with some snide comments here and there to bring in some laughter. He still not once spoke about what had happened during his time away. Thinking of it brought him painful memories. Even as the winter came and went and Spring was finally here, he fought like a champion for survival and still used some of his tricks to make a few makeshift traps for small rodents. Anything he could do to help really.
Now, the day was warm and the sun was welcoming on his fur. He was sprawled in the field near the den, back legs resting, front paws up and his belly to the sky. His head was on the side, eyes hazed as if he was simply snoozing really. He heard some moving and scrambled up like a rocket, perking his ears and looking around before standing up and shaking his darkened fur. He sat on his haunches to give his neck a few scratches with his back paw before moving to the den. The pups had grown and he was actually excited for them. He padded up within a good distance, still giving space for others that were of course higher ranking than himself before sitting down and once again getting the annoying flea that was biting at his neck. He shook his fur a bit afterwards and looked forward. His amber eyes gazed at Kasmira.
His muzzle curved to a small smile. He gave a low head nod, keeping his head lowered until he caught any sign that she had seen him. That was until that damn stupid flea was at his ear and his leg came up again and just scratched at it more and more, giving a little whine as he shook and then scratched again. How the hell did he get this stupid flea? He then looked all out pissy and staring at the ground. Not even at the rock did he have a flea but now...it must have been cause it was spring. Well...fleas were better than everything

L A N Z E When his great leader came calling, Lanze was never one to dismiss it. Kasimira was his leader, his queen, and the sole mother that he had ever known. He knew it for what it was: a beckoning to gather, even if his name was not specifically ebbed when it floated to his ears. Yet there was a pulsing in every fiber, anticipation burning. With each accumulation of the pack's numbers came his hopes and dreams that at last he could join the hunt. And when he emerged from a far den with an inkling of things to come, he was ready to prove himself. To everyone, but mostly to Kasimira. Gabriel proved the most opportune target. Akin more to a mountain lion than a wolf, Lanze crouched near belly first, hobbling along the dirt at an awkward gate that was equal parts stealthy as it was absurd. Distracted as the older male was, Lanze's goal was swiftly achieved. None too soon had he gained ground than he was leaping upon the dark-hued beast, teeth sinking into clumps of loose winter fur yet never meeting flesh. His paws found clumsy traction around Gabriel's chest and he yipped triumphantly, before springing away as if a flighty hare had possessed his body. He landed somewhere near Kasimira. Despite the joy shuddering through his veins, however, he was swift to shrink his lithe form into that of a respectful sign of submission. Lanze was aware that what she might have in store for him and his brother would require far greater prowess than the silliness just displayed. He was growing - only a centimeter shy of what would likely be his final height - and with the influx of adulthood would come far greater responsibilities. Ones that required skill and tact to help provide for this great family. There was perhaps nothing more grand than this. When he dared to look up from his games, there was a determination blazing in his gaze.

At Kasimira's calling, Adler's ears pricked and his head popped up from the scent he'd been tracking. He'd been up for a little while now, pacing back and forth before deciding to occupy his time in other ways. Yesterday, the black female had informed both him and his brother to be ready for their first hunt; Since then, his nerves had been bouncing, equal parts anxiety and excitement at the opportunity to finally, finally be accepted into the pack. He had waited for so long, perfecting his hunting crouch during the long winter afternoons and racing Lanze about the territory, dreaming internally of pursuing a deer in much the same manner. There were few things Adler could confidently brag about, but his hunting skills had become one of those things. He had brought hares home to the pack on multiple occasions, brimming with pride when Kasimira praised him, even if quietly and without grandeur. There was something special to him about doing small things for the alpha, especially since Tortuga was no longer present.
Adler turned towards the howl and moved into a steady trot, trying vainly to curb the wildness that he felt bubbling against the surface. It was only for a few moments before he reached Kasimira--Lanze and Gabriel were already present with his brother playfully antagonizing the older wolf. Adler paused. Usually he would have bounded into the fray without a second thought, but today was different and he cast a questioning glance at Kasimira. He didn't want to seem too boisterous or even reckless. He couldn't--wouldn't--let anything get in the way of his first hunt. Today however, her blue eyes were overcast and the black alpha seemed entirely preoccupied with watching the horizon. Snapping his attention back to his brother, Adler immediately jumped to Gabe's defense. His eyes were light as he posed himself before Lanze, his upper body pulled down to initiate a play session.
"Try and beat me this time, little brother."
With a snarl, albeit a harmless one, the steele grey wolf threw himself at his ruddy coated counterpart, teeth bared as he tried to grab onto one of his legs. They rolled over the ground in a tangle of fur, Adler's own strength surprising himself. He made sure his bites were soft enough not to draw blood as they scrabbled, batting Lanze on the head with his paws at one point. Their matches had never lasted long when they were young, since Adler's size had given the advantage by a long stretch. But now, more grown into their bodies, and more sure of themselves and their skills, the play fights were considerably more even. Not that Adler cared; he'd have lost every time and still loved his brother all the same. He was, after all, his brother, his flesh and blood. He was all he had left in that regard.
