E N E K O It was with bounding strides that the male swept over the ruddy dirt, slow and methodical yet long and with pointed direction. He was alert and keen, ears erect atop his skull to pinpoint the slightest disturbance, gaze picking apart the landscape. Rock face loomed and though most places in the land were thick with ice or snow, the cold dirt was not burdened by it. Einheit looked just as desolate and dry as it always did. The earth beneath his paws was rough with sand and rock and the occasional dead twig cast off by tumbleweeds or dried bushes. Rains would still be far off and at the mercy of spring. In the dead of winter, however, not much except the temperature had changed in these parts. Yet even under the cool sun and the breeze Eneko still felt hot. His jaws were open, chest heaving slowly though he was exerting little energy. His thickened coat was almost an overabundance for winter in the driest territory of Ravensbruck. The lightest scuffling was what drew his attention first, followed by the burst of a small form from a lonely shrub. The brute grunted in surprise before quickening after the startled hare as it fled for whatever far-off hole it had wandered from. He had been at this for over an hour, traversing the expanse in search of something to snack on. Indeed, Einheit was perhaps the most difficult landscape to hunt for the faint of heart. Eneko mused, briefly, that at least he had persistence on his side. Before this he had discovered little more than a few lizards and he would not let the opportunity get away from him. His stride stretched far, carrying him after his prey in a burst. The male was neither exceptionally stout nor thin, instead landing in some golden place in between that allowed him ample amount of stamina and speed. Perhaps not as extreme on one scale or the other had him exceptionally talented as a runner or fighter, but where he was allowed him to adapt to the situation. Hunting hares was not always his best but something he could manage well enough. With legs burning and paws stinging, focus zeroed on the desperate animal, he flew past a form of khaki furs and cerulean eyes in a cloud of dust. He did not know what brought Sinead to the southern most edge of her borders and did not stop to ask. He had been here for a long time - longer than what would be deemed normal for the vagabond so well versed in the landscape. There were times he would wander off for no more than two or three days, but he always came calling back. This had grown somewhat routine and it was not the first time she'd caught him in the midst of a hunt. There was a chance he'd even offer her the catch. The hare banked left perhaps thinking to outsmart him but Eneko anticipated the move, meeting the creature in its swerve with awaiting jaws. Its cries were short-lived, silenced by a broken neck as he took it up and tossed the thing into the air before letting it fall to earth. It was long dead before it hit the ground. He waits a moment, sucking great breaths to slow his pulse, before taking it back up and turning to the figure he had passed. He'd tumbled after the prey only seconds after sweeping by and it took no more than a few paces to wander back to Sinead. The male's coat was dusted in the red dirt of the she-wolf's lands, his form expanded with breath and adrenaline and his eyes gleaming with pride at his catch.

Sinead
Sinead’s least favorite aspect of Einheit was unquestionably the dirt. It puffed beneath her paws with each step, coating her lovely khaki fur with red, irritating her nostrils and sometimes her eyes. It was because of this that she frequently visited the stream, and today was no different. The Einheit alpha sat submerged in it despite the frigid temperature. Although it was winter and certainly cool, her fur was thick and the sun was always shining directly down upon Einheit, warming the water just slightly. She rolled it in until the dirt was cleansed from her fur, leaving it in all of its usual glory. Only once she was satisfied with her appearance did she step out, shaking droplets from her coat as she stretched and warmed herself beneath the sun. It had been a fairly uneventful day so far, with the sklavins last spotted in the dens and Fane not far from them. She’d gone off on her own without much of a word to either, but they knew that she never wandered far.Taking extra care to step lightly so as not to stir up more dirt, Sinead started off at a low, leisurely pace, looping loosely around her borders as she went. Her thoughts occupied her as she moved, past the eastern border and further until she’d reached the southern. It was here that she stopped, taking a brief moment to mark her scent once more before padding away and lowering herself gingerly on a low flat rock that jutted from the earth. It was mostly clear of the irritating red dust – thank the gods.It was a pleasant day, and the first in a while that she had no obligations to take care of. Things were oddly less stressful without Chalandra slinking around, and it was not the first time that Sinead felt relief over her decision, no matter how irritating the Groavche alpha had been. Yawning wide enough to reveal a flash of ivory teeth, she turned her bright eyes towards the horizon, before promptly sitting upright as something small zoomed past her. It took her a moment to realize that it was a hare, and seconds later, a blur of gray and white flashed past her, a masculine scent wafting into her nostrils. For a moment she froze, fearful, for her season was upon her and it would be just her luck if some rogue brute smelled her and came to take advantage of her while her pack and guard was so very far away. But then the scent became familiar to her and she relaxed, lowering her belly back to the rock as she laid her head on her dainty paws and watched Eneko. It took him only a moment to catch and kill the desperate creature, and the look of pride on his face when he returned had her muzzle twitching into a warm smile. It was good to see him again, for secretly she missed him on the days that he departed, and she was always glad when he returned. His presence was oddly soothing, and although Sinead had worried that he would not return after her acceptance of yet another male into Einheit, one who was certainly no sklavin, here he stood before her.”Poor thing. It didn’t stand a chance against your impressive prowess,” she purred, voice pitched low with mock sorrow. The smile never left her muzzle as she watched him, making no comment on his hunting. She would always welcome Eneko into her home, no matter how snappy or irritated she might be on some days. He never took it hard, fortunately. She stretched her neck out to butt her head against his chest affectionately, her good mood obvious in both her expression and her actions. She was certain that he would know immediately why, for she had never met a brute who couldn’t smell when a female’s heat had come upon her, but she wasn’t overly concerned with it. She had mulled over the idea of him siring her pups so frequently lately, but she hadn’t yet broached the subject with Eneko yet. ”Did you go anywhere interesting this time?” She asked as she gazed up at him, curiosity taking precedence over her other thoughts.

E N E K O It hit him like a cushioned wall. Somewhere in some great breath to try and steady himself the female's altered scent wafted through his nostrils and settled deep into his lungs. It had been drifting lightly on the wind since his return to Einheit, excited his spirits and perhaps drove him with adrenaline and testosterone in this hunt, but he had managed not to pay all too much mind to it. Sinead always avoided his advances during these times, something he couldn't blame her for, and he had never sought out her company during it. He respected her too much to pressure, and he had enough pride not to beg. And yet suddenly with her before him now, he was driven forward with a lurch of anticipation. And with this shifting of his focus of mind the rabbit was left at the base of the she-wolf's rock. Perhaps a gift for after, if he played his cards right and succeeded for there to be an after. "I have prowess in many things," he purrs back, voice deep and graveled. He was next to her settled form in nearly a flash as if she herself had tugged him near. And perhaps she had, for she lay upon that rock like a siren calling for her next victim. And oh, how Eneko would love to fall prey. The up-tilt of her maw was encouraging and there was no warning in her eyes to keep his distance. And so he didn't. He relishes in the feel of her head mingling with his thick winter coat, placing a single paw on the opposite side of the laying she-wolf before lowering himself to the ground as well. With his chest pressed to her left shoulder and one leg stretched overtop it was as if he were ready to maneuver over her completely and take her the moment she stood. Eneko was nothing if not always eager and willing for Sinead's attentions, even with the recent changes within her pack. The new brutes that had taken to these lands had unsettled Eneko as much as he was desperate to adapt to them. They were both larger than him but it was not their size that distressed him so much. They could have been half his height and he still would have looked upon them with disgust. Initially he had been jealous the first time Sinead had dragged one of them home with her, though it had quickly morphed into protectiveness of the she-wolf and irritation at the chip on the other male's shoulder. And as far as the other was concerned, Eneko had not interacted with him enough to judge his character... as much as he was sure he wouldn't like him, either. One look at him and he'd trotted off and spent several days moping about Freiheit Shores. And yet in the end, it was his loyalty to Sinead and the realization that he hadn't lost her that drove him back. And perhaps his own damn stubbornness had played a key role in his remaining here, because despite his frustrations and despite the fact Sinead was not his mate, he'd be damned if anyone else had her. Especially when she was receptive, because they'd not earned the right as far as he was concerned. If he were here to ward them off they would know better than to get their hopes up and Eneko was adamant about the fact. There had been brief moments of doubt, for sure, though they seemed to have evaporated the moment she had appeared here and now. "Nowhere interesting, just a walk along the shores," the simple truth, though he withheld the information about his moment of weakness and self-doubt. She probably sensed his troubles as it was and he didn't need to talk about his insecurities right now. Not when there were far more exhilarating activities on offer. He did not question her strangely good mood, did not remind her that anything they did would likely result in small life forms some time from now. Too focused was he on coaxing her inviting behavior further into the open, her delicious scent buzzing in his mind and heating his body. Nothing else mattered to him right then. He rubs his cheek along her shoulder, her neck, and finally up to her head where he tugs playfully on an ear. She was so lovely, recently washed, he noted, and a stark contrast to his dust-covered coat. "You look beautiful," he groans against her fur. She always had a regal presence, always kept herself in order. He'd never met anyone so effortlessly tempting or intoxicating.

Sinead
There was something that shifted in the air between them as she looked at him, a rising tension that was not unfamiliar to her. She watched him with half-lidded eyes as he dropped the kill at her feet and moved to drape himself over her, his warm breath tickling her ear in his nearness. His scent flooded Sinead’s nostrils, tempting her as she pressed her body against his, her eyes fluttering closed. She could practically taste the desire on the air, both hers and his mingled, for she couldn’t deny that she wanted him. She was stricken by it, conflicted between giving into her it or turning away despite the way her body screamed for her to surrender. This is what you wanted. His flirtatious retort echoed in her ears, followed by his explanation of his brief trip to the shores. She knew without it needing to be said that it was because of Fane. It was no secret that Eneko was possessive of her, and in a way, she enjoyed it. Any time that he gave her his attention, she reveled in it, pleased by his hints and nudges. For as long as they had known each other, it had always been Eneko who had held her attention. No other brute had managed to quite as efficiently as he, and it was because of this that she had wished him to be the father of her pups. It was a thought that had not occurred to her before this season, but now she had a territory that she could call hers, and he was more than willing. She knew in her heart that pups would likely not sway him to stay or remain faithful to her, but regardless, she would not have had anyone else."You look beautiful," he muttered in her ear, the temptation clear in his strained voice. She smiled slowly as she craned her head to face him, touching her muzzle to his lightly. Suddenly she was wracked by the need to have him, to sate her desires and possibly provide her with heirs all in one moment. There was no one around to see them, and even if there had been, Sinead wouldn’t have done anything differently. But before she lost herself in her wants, there was something that she needed to tell him, something that seemed suddenly so important.”There has never been anyone who has claimed my body, other than you,” she said. For all the flirtatious looks and suggestive words that she offered other brutes, she had never been with them like she had been with Eneko. ”I don’t care whether or not you can say that same. It does not change anything.”With that said, she allowed the burning in her limbs to take her. She had denied him season after season, but now she would not. She stood slowly, tucking her tail to the side as she looked over her shoulder at him, eyes blazing with an unspoken challenge. It was obvious what she wanted, and she had no doubts that Eneko would deliver. There was nothing else in that moment but she and him, standing beneath the rays of sunlight in Einheit, the body of the hare entirely forgotten. E N E K O He was taken aback by what she said, fog clearing from his thoughts to mull over it silently the slightest time. Sinead was indeed a flirtatious creature that could easily entice near any brute to groveling at her paws, begging for the attention she bestowed on so few. Though he had never seen her interact with other males before the two that had recently joined, Eneko had always assumed there had been others. It had bothered him often, as much as he tried to deny it and as much as he withheld the fact. Despite their long history the two did not hold the official title of mates and Eneko had begrudgingly looked the other way when he suspected anything. Just as she looked the other way when she knew he'd come back from some recent conquest. They didn't belong to each other, though there were plenty of occasions where he wished she did... and yet he always came back. In some way she was his and it heated his thoughts and his body. This new information, the very idea that he was the only one to have her, was near as intoxicating as the she-wolf herself. Near as intoxicating as her scent. A deep and satisfied growl ebbs from his throat and into her shoulder where he'd pressed his head, reveling in the secret she had revealed. That heavy, primal instinct to possess her drove him onward stronger now, rising with her as she did. He moved over her back as quickly as she found her paws, not at all concerned with being the gentle or doting lover, though he would not harm her. The other males entered his mind for the flash of a moment and that possessive part of Eneko wished they'd been there to watch him take their alpha. ▲ ▼ ▲ Some time later he pulled away. The blood was still pulsing in his veins, breath still heavy from both the hunt and their union. He was tired, he found without surprise, though made no move to lay down. He felt too hot, like he needed shade despite the fact it was winter. It was a deliciously familiar feeling that had him satiated enough that he normally would have napped the rest of the afternoon away. And perhaps he would eventually but Eneko had no plans to let Sinead out of his sight anytime soon. Whether anything changed after this or not, she belonged to him in this moment and would until the sweetness in her scent faded. He'd be damned if he let the others or some foolish upstart near her now. He remains by her, pressing his fur into she-wolf's side and scanning the horizon briefly before returning his gaze to her form. Once more her words from before invade his mind. Eneko didn't know if he could change and though the consequences of their actions could result in life in a few months time, he wondered if that altered her view on him. He had a sneaking suspicion she had planned this. Sinead was not so easily swayed by her hormones; this wasn't an accident. But would he forsake his constant desires and his steady wandering if she asked him to be with her permanently? He didn't know. He didn't even know if Sinead wanted something far greater in their relationship and he dare not ask. He was not at all sure on the idea or its vast implications and despite what they had done it was not his place to suggest it. He wonders how they'd gotten this far. He could still remember the days of their youth, discovering each other in the wilds before she had gotten it in her head to claim her own land. Eneko would be lying to himself if he didn't admit he was as equally jealous of her success as much as he was proud of it. She had come so far. In the end there was but one thing that the brute was positive he knew, and that was that as long as he was welcome, he would always come back. In some strange way, Einheit had become his home. In some strange way, he was excited by the possibility that new life could soon find this desolate land and that he would help create it.

Sinead
There was a silence when they’d finished, comfortable and unbroken. Sinead lowered her trembling body to the rock once more, chest heaving slightly with exertion. If possible her mood had only improved after their coupling, and she was relieved to see that Eneko made no immediate move to separate himself from her. She offered a satisfied smile as he brushed against her, watching his eyes as they roved across the flat expanse of dirt. She had a sneaking suspicion that he would not be so quick to leave knowing that she was in heat with other males around, but if anything it only made her glad. She would welcome him again and again until her season was over, to be absolutely sure that she had the best chance of conceiving, and by Eneko alone. She would not risk another brute’s offspring quickening in her womb, and she certainly did not desire a dual-sired litter. She found herself wondering what they would look like as she lounged beneath the sun, the pups that might come. Would they have her vivid eyes, or his, so lovely and pale blue? Would their coats be sleeker, like hers, or as thick as his? Either way she would cherish them, would raise them to be the precious princes and princesses that they would be. And Eneko…would he stay? Or would offspring change nothing? She turned to look at him, taking in every aspect of his appearance as if she could memorize it. She did not have high hopes for him restraining from his romps with other she-wolves. Sinead had long ago learned that there was nothing to be done for it, and even had considered taking him as her mate and allowing his minor infidelities, as long as he did not return with a mistress or other pups. And yet, she had no idea if he even desired to officially call Einheit his home, or to call her his mate. Should she ask and be refused, it would sting her deeper than she wished to admit, so she kept her mouth shut. And yet…she could always name him as her consort, welcome to come and go as he pleased yet his position as her lover remaining constant. She wanted him in their pups life, if she had them.Mulling over the idea in her head, she stood again, slightly more steady on her feet now as she gazed at him. It was warm to her, so she knew he must have been sweltering beneath the sun after their particularly vigorous exploits. ”Let’s take a trip to the stream before you melt,” she said with a wink, hoping that he wouldn’t object. ”Besides, I could use another bath after that.”There was a flirtatious lilt in her tone as she started off at a trot, no longer worried about the dirt that clung to her legs and paws. The river was not so far away, after all, and Sinead would never object to cleaning her fur again. She was peculiar about her appearance. ”There’s something we need to discuss, anyways,” she called over her shoulder, hoping that her words would tempt him to follow, along with the slight sway of her hips.

E N E K O As he scanned the horizon for any suspicious figures to threaten him or his she-wolf, he caught Sinead staring through his peripheral. Eneko looks sidelong with the shift of his eyes, searching her as well, before allowing a wry and suggestive smile to tug the corners of his maw. He had not a clue what she was looking for as she gazed at him with those sparkling eyes, though through the thickness of the air her demeanor had turned momentarily serious. He wondered where it was her mind took her. To their days past? To their days ahead? Or perhaps she thought long and hard of what they had done here and now. Inclining himself to where she now lay, he butts his forehead against her cheek in an affectionate manner that wasn't unlike him. A rough lover he may yet have been, but the soft moments were easy to cherish. As his focus parts from their surroundings he cannot draw away from her; a victim of her heat and his own affection. It was an affection that had budded in him in days long past, long before she'd taken Einheit. And when she raises back to her paws Eneko is quick to follow her every move. Near as close as a shadow yet nite quite for he didn't want to to crowd her. But she could have swept clear across the whole of Ravensbruck and he would still have followed, desperate in her tracks. Perhaps because her scent and the tantalizing sway of her hips drove him with testosterone, his suspicions of her new pack members stirred his paranoia and obsessive nature, and perhaps because he had long since became attached. It was not a rare thing, this fondness, yet it clutched at him more for her than it did any other. Briefly he thought back to Dresna, a she-wolf whom he had genuinely enjoyed time with. Esily, not even the memory of her stark coat with the misted falls to backdrop was as profound as Sinead. He wanted to see Dresna again, though, and nothing about this day dampened that longing. He had made her a promise, one that was long overdue, and he intended to fulfill it. And Eneko did not deny to himself that he hoped she would receive him as openly as she had the first time. Doubtful, for he had been gone far longer than he should, but still that desire was there. Maybe he could not be changed, and maybe he didn't need to be, for he would not ask the same of Sinead. He would take Sinead how she was. He would cherish Sinead how she was. He loved Sinead how she was. A devilish grin lifted the corners of his mouth when she spoke, the male trotting along after the female like a moth to a flame. "Perhaps we should remain by the stream. I think you'll be needing it far more in the coming days," he said suggestively, nipping at her tail. It was then that he remembered his initial purpose for coming out all this way. He doubles back to gather his kill before once again trotting after the she-wolf. In his maw it is carried like a great prize and he has every intention of giving it to Sinead when they reached their destination. He knew he needn't hunt for her, for she had plenty to do it for her and she was not incapable, and originally it had been for himself. Yet the primal instinct to provide for her was strong. Perhaps it was her scent that had latched into his mind and swayed him, but Eneko was determined to prove himself a capable hunter, a strong brute worthy of siring a queen's pups. He would not leave her or them to go hungry or be fed by everyone else's paws. ”There’s something we need to discuss, anyways,”For a second his eyes have gone wide before falling into thoughtful slits of consideration. She cannot see the workings of his mind because he is too busy taking up her rear, as if to defend her from anyone that might sneak up on them. There is no way to tell what it was that was swirling her thoughts for the majority of their conversation had been flirtations. He does not spare it too much thought at that moment, though, for there was nothing to be said or done until she felt ready to bring it forth. Instead, he quickens his pace to stride directly alongside her. A bold move for she was still the alpha of these lands, not him. He was still a guest at her mercy, still of lower rank while he was here. But it is done subconsciously, as if it was his natural place to be beside her.

Sinead
"Perhaps we should remain by the stream. I think you'll be needing it far more in the coming days.”Sinead grinned, flashing a devious look over her shoulder in the brute’s direction, glad that his intentions were no different from hers. It satisfied her to know that he would stick around for a while – until her heat was over, at least. She led him on in silence towards the stream that had appeared in the distance, glad that Fane had not come searching for her yet, or Merona. Sinead could still remember the way she’d behaved upon first meeting Eneko, and the familiar gleam in the brute’s eyes upon seeing the sklavin. Snorting softly to herself, she pushed the thought away, ears flicking atop her skull as she moved. All was quiet in Einheit. They came upon the stream finally and Sinead stopped, wearier than usual due to her morning activities. She dipped her head low to drink, closing her eyes as the cold, crisp water cooled her tongue. When she’d finished she stepped inside, dipping her paws in daintily before completely submerging herself. She emerged with a spray of droplets, dripping but clean, and shot Eneko a playful grin before shaking herself, sending water flying in his direction. It felt nice to relax with him instead of worrying about when he would disappear next, or when she would see him again, and yet it brought her thoughts back to what she wished to say to him. Giving herself one final shake, she moved to the shallowest part of the stream, sitting prim and proper as the tiny ripples swayed around her barely submerged paws. She watched Eneko, the faintiest smile on her muzzle as the breeze pulled the cool air through her slick fur. ”I have a proposal for you,” Sinead said finally, finding that her stomach clenched with nerves. No other brute had never made her feel quite like Eneko did – bold, beautiful, and sometimes a little anxious. She had known for a very long time how she felt about him due to the way her pulse quickened when she caught his scent on the wind, or how her heart beat harder upon hearing his deep voice. She had never admitted to him that she loved him, but perhaps he knew. She would never have allowed any other brute to behave as he did, coming and going as he pleased, flitting from her to a different she-wolf and back again…and yet she tolerated it, for him. Sinead knew that she had not been mistaken in her decision to let him sire her pups, and she took a deep breath to steel herself for her words.”I will not mince words here; I know what you do when you leave, and it doesn’t bother me much anymore,” she said gently with a quirk of her lips. In her younger days it had infuriated her, but she had matured and learned that it was part of loving Eneko. ”I also know that asking you to remain in Einheit as an alpha, as my official mate, would probably bore you half to death. So I won’t ask you to.” She leveled him with her steady gaze, curling her tail around her paws. ”I thought about my decision today for a very long time. You were the only one that I would even consider allowing to sire little Einheit heirs. And now I’ve made another decision, if you find it agreeable.” She paused here before continuing, her voice shaking just slightly. Would he hear it, she wondered? ”I would like to name you as my official consort. You would be welcome in Einheit whenever you pleased, and would have authority over most of the pack should you ever need it. You would not be confined here, and you will have no obligation to remain faithful to me when you are away.”Her gaze was almost shy now as she glanced away from him, suddenly afraid of his rejection all over again. It was the most vulnerable she’d been in years, perhaps ever. ”I will ask nothing of you except that you do not bring any of them back to Einheit, and that you are careful. The world doesn’t need a million little Eneko’s running around, stealing she-wolves hearts.” She managed a smile then at her nervous joke, before becoming serious once more. ”I just…want you to be in their lives, if I do conceive from this. I want you here to help me.” NOTE: THE FEELS | WORDS: 751 | TAG: Ὀδύσσεια♐

E N E K O The stream came upon them faster than he'd expected, for Eneko had been far too preoccupied with the intoxicating presence beside him. He was not sure how much time had passed but with the gradual flow now before his paws he was abruptly reminded about just how hot he'd become beneath his own pelt. While Sinead drank the brute was the first in, lapping at the frigid water as he waded through the shallows, allowing his entire body to fall. It sufficiently cooled him and not for the first time since their coupling he came up with another excuse to take her again, regarding her luscious frame as she cleaned herself, though he did not think she noticed it. Soon, thought the male with the quickening of his pulse and the rising heat under his fur once more. While Sinead submerged and washed the dirt from her coat with precision, Eneko was far more concerned with merely observing her. Watching the way she moved, reveling in that playful grin cast his way. He returned it with a devilish one of his own, eyes burning with want and desire the same as before. But she moved away, perching herself in the shallows like a regal queen. Sitting before him now, it was easy to think the queen of Einheit the most regal creature in existence. ”I have a proposal for you,” she says not moments after he shook the water from himself. He stood there in the stream, allowing his legs to go numb as she spoke.”I will not mince words here; I know what you do when you leave, and it doesn't bother me much anymore.” These words made the blood rush cold in his veins much as the cold waters rushed through the stream. Though the latter made it clear she was not angry about her knowledge of his exploits - he knew she'd known for a long time - he still felt the stint of panic, like suddenly she might decide to change her mind. Like suddenly she might send him away. Like their years of companionship might be forfeit. He watches her with nothing short of a blank expression masking his apprehension, not at all sure where she is going with this through that horrifically long pause, before she speaks again, catching him off guard. Official mate? He swallows lightly, perhaps a little disappointed she would write the idea off so quickly. His mind was already reeling, spinning wildly. The fact that she'd spared any consideration floored him. For a brief span of time Eneko wishes she might have approached him, though in the end he accepts the reality of the situation; knows she was right, that he would go crazy if he were ever chained. Though the prospect of dominance over those silly males appealed to a more primal part of him, the position of alpha was something too binding for Eneko. At least for now. Maybe someday he'd keep his paws. Maybe someday he'd not allow himself to be swept off so easily. The tension in his muscles had built so quickly, binding his legs where he stood like a vice grip holding him down. However, it faded just as fast as she continued onward. Eneko said nothing and he dare not move, allowing her words to sink into his skull and settle there as she spoke them. The offer was as unexpected as it was enticing, he found. Yet perhaps it was a selfish thing, he thought in the same breath, to run off and elope with other females as much as he wanted to sire Sinead's heirs. Despite his moment of anxiety he knew she accepted him how he was, as he accepted her how she was. He never expected her to change, and he'd even thought she had been sneaking around with other brutes in much the same fashion as he, before her earlier confession. And, selfishly, he had wanted her body completely for himself.
Eneko wonderes what he would do if she did breed with another male and it took him very little time to come to a conclusion: he wouldn't care as long as they weren't here. The thought of Icarus or Fane on top of her provoked him greatly. The thought of a rogue male coming to claim her stirred that temper as well, though he had no intentions of leaving her side while she was in heat. But if they weren't here... if he couldn't see them, if they didn't have a name, if she were careful, he wouldn't care. The realization startled him though it should not have; it was what he'd thought was happening all along, after all. He wouldn't care because they wouldn't matter. All he wanted was to be the one that mattered to Sinead. Perhaps this was where her thoughts lay as well. And maybe Eneko was fond of other females, but he did not love them as he did Sinead. And he did not need to tell her that he loved her as it seemed such a mundane thing. She had to know, just as he knew. The shy shifting of her gaze was what finally pushed the brute forward, bounding from the stream in two great strides and padding slowly along the waterline. She continued onward and he was not oblivious to the waver in her voice. "I want to be a part of their lives," he assured her of this without hesitation or pause before coming to sit beside her. "I won't abandon you to raise my pups alone, Sinead. I have every intention of helping you... and I want nothing more than to accept your offer. I will accept it. You will always have me, Sinead." He presses his side flush against hers, his mop of soaking wet, thick fur not aiding in drying her own. He chuckles, flashing her a grin before suddenly rising and loping away several strides. He returned moments later with the hare he'd left by the shore, dropping it before her, finally, as a gift. "Besides, how else would our sons and daughters learn how to hunt hare so well? I'm told I have impressive prowess," he jested from what she had said earlier that day, nudging her with his nose. But he did not pull away, instead leaving his head pressed to her fur, sliding it over her shoulder to pull her against him.

Sinead
It was difficult for Sinead to raise her gaze after the words had slipped from her muzzle, like closing your eyes to step off of a drop and attempting to force them open during the fall. There was only a moment where she was able to feel so uncertain, however. Almost immediately after she’d finished speaking, the splashing of paws in water altered her to Eneko’s movements. She glanced up sharply, watching as he drew nearer to her, taking note of the determination on his features as he stopped and then sat beside her. His words fell upon her like boulders, leaving only sweet relief in their wake. "I want to be a part of their lives.”It was the perfect response, whether he knew it or not, and with each word that he spoke afterwards, her spirits soared higher and higher. Outwardly she allowed only a warm smile of glee, but inwards she was a wreck of emotions: pleased, grateful, affectionate, and beneath it all, a little scared. It wouldn’t be easy she knew, and for the briefest moment a flash of shame rushed through her for how difficult she had allowed Chalandra’s pregnancy to be. Please, Eperna, she found herself praying. I have seen how very wrong I was. Do not punish me for my blunders. Despite the water that clung to both of them as Eneko pressed against her, she had no complaint. She would never again pretend as if she did not want him by her side. She did, always. He stood suddenly and bounded away, Sinead’s eyes following him as he moved to scoop up his previous catch, looping back to offer it to her. Even still, it was momentarily forgotten as he pulled her again him. Sinead’s eyes fluttered closed as she nuzzled her head into the thick fur of his chest, mulling over the day’s events. Much had happened that would change Einheit, and certainly for the better. She would have Eneko beside her when she needed it, and when he was away, she would rule patiently and effectively as she always did until his return, where he would be welcome with open arms. My consort, she thought with a quiet hum of pleasure. The possibility of her taking another brute as her mate to rule alongside her was slim to none; Eneko would face no challenge any time soon, no jealous opposition. After a moment she pulled away, grinning at his comment. ”You are the only one who can teach them,” she said solemnly, the only sign of her jest being the way her lips twitched just slightly. ”Without you, I fear the hares would overpopulate and take over all of Ravensbruck. We would be doomed.”She lowered her head to eat then, finding that she was famished. It had been hours since she’d had anything, and now she would have to eat more than usual. Just in case, she told herself. She was trying not to get her hopes up so that there was no chance they could be dashed, and yet still the excitement dwelled inside of her. She would do everything right to ensure that her heirs were strong and healthy, even if that required her to gorge herself until she was plump. The idea was amusing, but not likely. When she’d eaten half of Eneko’s catch she stepped back, offering the rest to him. He, too, had to remain in good health. She would make sure of it. ”You’ll be needing your strength,” she said to him, narrowing her eyes just slightly as a slow, sultry smile spread across her features. ”Especially for the next few days. I’m nowhere near done with you.” NOTE: they are my favorite okay | WORDS: 615 | TAG: Ὀδύσσεια♐
