OOC Hey! It's Ruki! :D Been workin' on a new skin, which is why I haven't posted much, and it's finally done! Mostly anyway. Change it to Umber Fields and you should see all the fun. There are bound to be a few kinks in the display, so please tell me if there's anything wrong, or if something just looks odd to you, like if the font's too small. :C I'm thinkin' it might be. Staff ppl should pm me with 100x100 icons. Also the mini-profile circle images are 125x125. I thought they were 100x100 at first, but no, I forgot about the circle border edits. |D Couldn't have gotten it done without the codes from the people in the credits, so silent shoutout to them. Staytuned for more weird updates. Might do some re-arranging of the boards. Anywho, hope you like it!
OLD: 4/04 Ruki says: NEW SEASON! Spring has started! We might start advertising places again now that midterms are over for all of us, and posting is back up. Not exactly OOC news, but Enheit Alpha Sinead has PUPPIES. If you wanna adopt the last one, the adopt thread is HERE! Ody and Raven have their own rules for this, so read them and adopt a pup if y'all want. SPRANG BRAAAAKE.
2/26/15 WHY HELLO! Guess who it is again. Ruki. I've been busy condensing rules and tips into a handy updated guidebook here on THIS PAGE! with the help of my fellow staff buddies. It's super important to read and make sure you get all the fun info down. The newest rule is about ALPHA ACTIVITY, so be sure to read the Lands and Territories section. The gist of it is that yall leaders gotta post once a week. If you don't POOF. No more land for you. This is a new rule, but if you haven't posted within the next few days and haven't been active in a while, you best get on that 'cause yo' land's 'bout to be snatched.
IC Spring is here at last and the land is beginning to flourish with new life once more. Young animals are plentiful and slowly others are rousing out of hibernation. April showers rain down, and springtime flowers are budding out from their winter beds. SPRING will last from April 1st - June 1st

The she-wolf was a weary traveller indeed. With her black coat gilding her frame, she panted as her tongue curled over her teeth. Tiredness was becoming more and more apparent as she moved, though her steps weren’t hesitant upon the ground as she fought a yawn. She could feel her body becoming heavier as she travelled, but the scent of wolves around her kept her wary. Her nose widened, inhaling briefly as she let that smell linger. It would be nice not to be alone…
She shook her head at the thought, instead heading towards the water she could both hear and smell. She was so thirsty that she was dribbling, her chest heaving as she slunk through the shadows on silent paws towards the water that was laid out so invitingly before her. She broke a habit of a lifetime when she stepped out from the trees, bending her head to the water and curling as many droplets of the cool fluid as she could into her muzzle. She drenched her senses in the cool, life-giving fluid, drowned her cells in it before lifting herself free with a gasp.
Her lungs were burning, her stomach swollen with the water she’d almost inhaled…and yet she was still hot. Her tongue curled across her whiskers for a moment, gathering each droplet before she shook herself off and stepped into the still waters, her eyes on the part of the water where the waterfall cascaded down and churned the water up. She waded in as deep as she could, until just her head showed…and there she relaxed. This was peaceful, no wolves about her and no one to bother her while she settled down and allowed her body to cool.
Stepping from the water had her coat clinging to her sleek body, though the more she shook, the quicker her coat dried. She didn’t quite want to be vulnerable but as her stomach gurgled, she tilted her head considering her options. If there wasn’t a pack near to her, maybe there’d be a lone wolf or three who could help her with a hunt…and maybe she’d make a few friends, while she was there… The thought was so clear in her mind that she lifted her head back, and howled a few soft notes, her tone light and friendly.
Under the cover of late afternoon's gentle darkening, a black figure glided between the trees. With a fast pace, the shadow slipped and slide through the rows and patterns of pine in the area, completely ignoring the desperate last pleas of a rabbit trapped in the undergrowth. Marzell, upon leaving Dresna, had bolted to the falls. He had to clear his head somehow, and this old place had become the only thing that could soothe him well enough after hard encounters or nightmares and fantasies of his old life in the Irrsin pack.
As he neared the enormous roar of the fall's strength, the black male slowed considerably, forcing himself to catch his breath and check the area over before releasing his tension. He'd lived a loner's life long enough to know what other creatures waited out there, hoping for a wolf ignorant enough to let their guard slacken. Besides, this had been the place both his mother and father had taken him and his siblings when they were younger, allowing them to swim in the heat and learn how a non-pack territory smelled. It was tinged with different scents, and so vastly unlike the Irrsin meadow that Marzell had scrunched his nose up in distaste. Adelina, if he recalled correctly, had stuck her nose in the air, equally displeased with the strange aromas and senses. And Dresna, of course, had been the most understanding and adaptable out of the three. Typical Dresna. It would only be by Iudex's luck that anyone from his old pack showed up in this exact place now, but with its proximity to the Irrsin borders, nothing was impossible. Pushing his sentiments down, Marzell crept forward on gentle paws, his blue eyes scanning the water's edge.
The blue eyes peered hesitantly through the nearest scramble of bushes, immediately meeting another wolf. Marzell quieted his breathing further, crouching as to not bring obvious notice to his more masculine frame. A soft howl slipped off the female's lips--and she was indeed female from the distinct scent that caught in the air--and a shiver ran the length of Marzell's spine without control. It seemed that she was alone, and her questioning howl only furthered the assumptions. Maybe she was lost. He certainly didn't remember her from any of the neighboring packs, let alone his own. Then again, one was never to be so open; Kasimira was known to visit the Auktion Rock frequently, so maybe this was one of hers.
Marzell strode from underneath the undergrowth with a slight air of bravado; he was an Alpha's son, after all. A good impression was necessary to any relationship formed, that much his parents had taught him. Maybe he could help her. Heck, maybe she knew of Azrael... Trying to use his deeper voice, Marzell blinked his blue eyes, just like Zy had taught him the ladies liked.
"Well, I certainly wasn't expecting to see anyone else here."
Marzell paused, searching for his words as he moved to drink slowly from the cold, pooling water. He didn't want to be too brash and flirtatious as he had been with Azrael; besides, was he ready to move on from her just yet?

The first she knew of not being alone was a softly spoken voice. She spun instantly before pausing and relaxing. Another wolf…a male wolf and it didn’t bother her. She yawned widely, showing no sign of worry about being near him instead wagging her tail as her ears perked and her head tilted to the side. She let her eyes wander across his fur- as dark as her own, but his eyes…his eyes were the blue of the sky whereas hers were golden. “Not intruding at all. I hope I’m not intruding on your personal space by being here; I’m happy to move on though if you want me to…”
She stretched slowly and settled to watch him drink, her fur mostly dried now from her dip in the cool pool of water. A slight curl of her muzzle had her smiling before she flopped onto her side and breathed a sigh of happiness out. “The name is WaterSinger…though you can call me Singer if you’d rather.” Her golden eyes warmed a little before she stood again. She was still thirsty, her paws were still tender so she stepped past Marzell into the water so her paws could be soothed and her tongue drenched in water. She drank thirstily again, her head dipping down until she was sated once again. Remaining in the water, she grinned coquettishly and stretched, letting the water highlight her less than slender, muscled body before she tipped her head.
“You wouldn’t happen to know if I’m intruding on anyone’s territory here, would you? I don’t want to get under anyone’s fur by doing so…and if it isn’t…is there somewhere for me to go? I'm looking to find somewhere safe to rest..." She cocked her head the other way, her tail wagging faintly before she slipped from the water as quietly as she could and stood close enough to the male to inhale his scent with a soft sigh. This was nice…nothing pressing on her, no one making her act the way her pack would have preferred.
“The name is WaterSinger…though you can call me Singer if you’d rather.”
"Singer. That's certainly an interesting name."
Marzell cast a sidelong glance at the female before stepping further into the water. She was relatively pretty, but he hesitated in complimenting her outright; what if Azrael returned and he'd already taken to Singer? Torn by the old female's sudden no-show, the black male simply waded further into the pool's depths. It was a beautiful coldness that licked further and further at his belly fur, and the male welcomed the feeling in the heat of late afternoon. Physical sensations were so easy to judge. They were either one thing or another. There was no in between. Not like emotional relationships; those were messy and tangled. Here he was, alone with a female, away from his family, yearning for Azrael's return, and brooding over a fight with Dresna. Marzell could only sigh exhaustedly.
“You wouldn’t happen to know if I’m intruding on anyone’s territory here, would you? I don’t want to get under anyone’s fur by doing so…and if it isn’t…is there somewhere for me to go? I'm looking to find somewhere safe to rest..."
At the mention of nearby territories and lands, Marzell stiffened slightly. Was this her first time in northern lands? Surely she knew that Irrsin was only a short distance away, and Regnen no farther on the fall's opposite shores. And speaking of territories, his own laid close enough for a night's stay if he obliged her. Was that appropriate--to offer his own land as a place to rest? Of course, don't be stupid he chastised himself. Most wolves weren't as hospitable anymore with the rivalries that had arose from less resources due to the fire, but with no one besides Jato to share the small space with, it was more than appropriate for him to offer Norden to her.
Marzell raised his head from the water and turned to meet the female's eyes, blinking as he held her gaze.
"Funny you should ask--I'm the Alpha of Norden."
He grinned sheepishly, trying to make the situation a little lighthearted.
"You're welcome to the lands if you need a place to stay for a while."
Marzell padded hesitantly out of the water and shook droplets from his sooty fur before considering the sky. It was getting late. Should they leave now and avoid bumping into a possible Irrsin patrol? Or would she even take him up on his offer?

Her lips curled in the faintest of grins at his comment about her name; her head dipped briefly in acknowledgment. She knew her name wasn’t the most conventional of names, but it no longer bothered her to know that- it was what it was and she was named it for a reason. She watched as the male looked at her before she flopped herself down loosely on the ground, watching as he soaked himself the way she had. Even as soaked as she was, her tongue curled against her whiskers, a ghost of her watery drink remaining with her before her tail flickered slowly back and forth.
She tried her best to be friendly- not always the easiest thing for her though. There was so much that could send her spinning with a snarl…but for now, she was fine. She stretched herself on the cool stone, lost for a moment in her own memories of a past she didn’t want to give time to. She shook her head and in one smooth movement stood to shake her dark pelt off before turning her eyes upon Marzell and then hesitating at his words. Trust her to have messed up entirely! It was the norm for her in this kind of situation, but thankfully she was experienced in how to smooth such a thing over.
She dipped her head down lower than before- not quite as deep as it could have been, were she play-bowing at the male but still impressively low for a wolf that was, by choice, a loner. Her tail dipped slightly lower than her back as she lifted her head back up, her voice soft and almost silken as she speaks. Then I beg forgiveness, Alpha Marzell. She kept a serious look on her muzzle for one beat of her heart…then a second and a third. As the fourth beat in her chest, she grinned at him, her tail flicking about before she considered his offer with her head tilted to the side and ears perked so high that they almost touched at the rounded tips.
Somewhere safe to rest sounds like a luxury I could do with, so I do accept your gracious offer, Marzell…and thank you. For trusting me, when we’ve only just met. I could have been any sort of crazy, just hiding it well. But I’m not, of course! Her voice was rushed at the end as she strived to reassure him that she meant nothing to what she said. She was as sane as a wolf could be…in the right situation and without the stress of being responsible for everyone.
