CHIONE
"Rome wasn’t built in a day"
this is me in the flesh,
NAME: Chione
NICKNAME(S): Chio, Kee
PRONUNCIATION: (Key-oh-nay)
POSITION: free-roamer
taste the sky,
AGE: 3
GENDER: Male
BREED: Great Plains Wolf
HEIGHT: 41 inches
APPEARANCE: Chione has the classic bulky and powerful build of his breed, towering over most other wolves with ease. His legs are his strongest asset giving him unmatched strength and acceleration. Having said that his bulky body also has the capacity to fail him since Chione isn’t as agile as other smaller breeds of wolf.
His fur is mostly a mottled and dirty grey with black and brown patches interspersed giving him an almost permanent weathered and ‘dusty’ appearance. It is also thick, matted and coarse to withstand the cold temperatures his pack endured for generations. Like his father, his underbelly and legs are a dirty cream, however he is distinguished from others by his distinctive black muzzle that lightens slightly under his jaw. His ears are quite large for his breed but Chione is fortunate as his thick muscular neck and defined jaw almost distract from them. His eyes are a pale yellow flecked with flashes of amber and although Chione was not fortunate enough to avoid injuries completely, the scars that he does bear are small and covered by his thick fur.
thoughts that make me go insane,
PERSONALITY: Having four brothers, Chione was never properly exposed to a real ‘feminine’ influence. His mother, though caring and warm, was sickly throughout most of his puphood and as a result Chione developed a warped perception of females and what ‘strength’ was. Many would consider him to be misogynistic seeing as he views females to be physically weaker, less forward-thinking and less interesting to talk to... and to be frank they’re probably right. Having said that, Chione does enjoy certain aspects of female companionship. However, while flirtatious, Chione’s charms aren’t exactly honed yet due to his inexperience with the opposite gender. It’d be nice at this stage to say something like “but at heart Chione is compassionate and will show kindness to the right wolf” but to be frank that’s completely wrong and there’s a pretty high chance Chione will be a douche for the rest of his life.
Chione is bold, outgoing, and arrogant and a dangerously fierce competitor in even the most insignificant of battles. He is stubborn and has a clear view of what the world should be like. Any deviations from what he considers to be the norm aren’t welcome and he won’t be afraid to make clear what his own views are and why any other opposing views are wrong. As a result of his staunch views on how everything should be, Chione is surprisingly particular about his surroundings and they can heavily affect his mood.
Chione isn’t afraid to take things to blows if anyone crosses him though usually when in a bad mood he will isolate himself and sulk. Having said that usually Chione is of a happy disposition and will stand rigidly by anyone who he considers to be a friend. Despite all of his less appealing personality traits Chione is a very fun and charismatic wolf to be around and as a result he’s very capable of gaining friends quickly. He loves to tease and play around with others and while he may not be able to critique himself, he is a very good judge of character.
Chione is also fairly self-conscious. While he may not outwardly show it, he is very critical of his physical abilities and is affected by others calling him weak. As a result he is ruthless about keeping in shape and is exceedingly proud of this.
all over my shoulder,
FATHER: Sambras
MOTHER: Lastiga
SIBLINGS: Eros, Fallon, Meric, Bane, Lisia
HISTORY: Chione was born into a dying pack based far to the north of Ravensbrück. Once mighty, the pack had gradually been beaten down by harsh northern winters and sickness till only a handful remained. Sambras, Chione’s father, was a proud and strong alpha male but stubborn in his ways and refused to move further south despite Lastiga’s pregnancy. As a result, Lastiga gave birth in the harsh weather of the north and to their despair her only daughter, Lisia, was stillborn. This left Chione and his four brothers.
Chione’s puphood was spent almost entirely in the company of his brothers, father and uncle braving the hazards of the north together. His puphood was extremely competitive and though the pups often quarreled, they were fiercely close. Sambras was a good leader and teacher to his pups but their first winter was devastating and the pack struggled. Food was scarce and the cold was bitterly unforgiving. Lastiga became violently ill and passed in the late winter just before the snow melted. Sambras, stricken with grief, followed her to the grave shortly after leaving Chione, his brothers and his uncle.
It was decided between the six of them that there was no longer a future in the north and they should travel south together to find new lands. Their journey was long and arduous molding Chione and his brothers into strong adolescents and as the land grew greener the number of wolf pack territories grew. Here, the borders between packs were defined and if land wasn’t claimed then it was for a reason. There was nowhere for the pack to settle. For a while they entertained the idea of joining one of the packs but they were met with hostility and it soon became apparent that six strong wolves were unlikely to ever find a pack that would accept them all.
It was a few miles north of Ravensbrück where they separated to individually find packs where they could settle. Now on his own, Chione made the decision to travel further south to Ravensbrück.
