KASIMIRA
As the male slipped into front of Adali, Kasimira wasn't sure whether to be impressed or alarmed with her sklavin's little protector. It was a sweet gesture, but it also gave her a sharp indication of the bond lying between them. This obviously wasn't the first time they'd met. And with his ruffled fur and narrowed eyes, it was obvious that he hadn't been expecting her.[/size]
"Maybe an introduction first? I'm Maddox. I know who you are, I'll admit, just not by name."
Kasimira watched him with a subdued interest, turning over his name in her head. Maddox. Although it didn't ring a bell, what he said after that had her hooked. He knew who she was. They'd never crossed paths before, and yet he had an idea of her stature and rank. Had her pack really made that large of an impact on the lands already? Kasimira knew herself to be a formidable ruler, but it warmed her ego, if only slightly, to hear a compliment like that from a stranger.
Maddox moved forward to meet her and the black she-wolf forced herself to focus. Feared or not, this male was posing a threat to both herself and the mind of her sklavin. And frankly, upheavals such as this one weren't really her thing. They were petty affairs for her--mostly because she already knew the outcome. She'd get a few bruises, some scratches, maybe a large wound, and they would all go home with nothing substantial changed. The less fights she could get herself into, the better for everyone. Although, that certainly didn't mean she wouldn't reprimand a wolf completely out of order.
"A few weeks ago, I found Adali in the Schreien forest. Completely lost, poor thing, and terrified out of her wits. She asked me to take her back to Irrsin, and I did. That should have been the end of it, but I was a little bit...fascinated by her. So I kept coming back to your borders, looking for her. She had nothing to do with that. She didn't even know I was still around until earlier tonight, when she was running patrols. I stopped her and asked her to come across the border with me. She was reluctant, but I insisted. I promised her I would have her back in no time. I just needed to see her."
Kasimira sat quietly while Maddox explained the situation, his eyes level and his fur more relaxed than when she had first arrived. She didn't doubt one bit that Adali had fled during the fire's wrath; they all had. They'd run as far as they could, although it seemed the white sklavin hadn't quite known when to stop running if she'd reached the Schreien Forest. As he spoke, the she-wolf turned the story over again. The past couple weeks Adali had been acting as normal as the rest of the pack, which didn't seem to indicate she was visiting the male consistently. And if she recalled correctly, Dresna and Violet had picked up a strange scent a few nights ago that had gone undetermined. As apprehensive as she was, Kasimira couldn't plausibly see where the male could have been playing a sheep in wolf's clothing.
"Isn't that right, Adali?"
It was Adali's turn to confess herself. As both Maddox and Kasimira turned to look at her, the white pelt shrunk back towards the ground as she spoke.
"Yes, that's right."
Kasimira's eyes narrowed at the pair of them, considering their postures and story in combination. She let the silence carry on for a moment, considering how to further proceed. And then, after a long silence of contemplation between the three of them, Adali spoke again.
"Please do not hurt him. His intentions were honorable. He helped me,"
With all of her sudden complacency at the current situation, Kasimira finally snapped and growled at Adali's final contribution.
"From what I've been told, his intentions were honorable--at first. However, now it seems that he's not only coerced you to accompany him away from your pack, but also to disobey your dominor and Alpha. You knew what was expected of you," and with a flick of the blue eyes to Maddox, Kasimira continued without a slight hesitation, "and you knew that as a sklavin she would be unable to provide you company off my lands without permission."
Kasimira, vexed with Adali and Maddox both, scraped her claws into the soft ground to keep herself focused. What could she use as a punishment? She didn't know enough about this male to simply send him away with a slap on the paw and a warning. He'd be lurking around Irrsin for who-knew-how-long, and he'd obviously gotten grips on herself and her pack mates. That alone made her want to bare her teeth and tear him to shreds, right here, right now. Still, there had to be a better way. A way in which she could keep an eye on him but not accept him into Irrsin completely...
"But, as compensation for helping my sklavin find her way home originally, I must thank you. And Maddox, I don't take the giving of thanks lightly."
The blue eyes flashed in a soft warning at the male before completely changing gears to present her final invitation.
"For such a noble act, I'd like you to join us in a pack hunt tomorrow morning. I hope you're hungry. I'll expect you just after sunrise."
Kasimira nodded at Adali to follow her as she lifted herself off the ground and turned to leave. She'd be as peaceful as she'd ever been in such an unexpected turn of events. Hopefully, her docile nature now would pay off later. Just as she reached the bushes where she'd first entered, Kasimira shot a slighted glance back at the male.
"The name is Kasimira, Queen of Irrsin."
Her work here was done.
