OTHELLO
"Are we really happy here
With this lonely game we play
Looking for words to say?
Searching
But not finding understanding anyway
We're lost in a mas--masquerade."

this is me in the flesh,
NAME: Othello
NICKNAME(S): None
PRONUNCIATION: auth-ell-oh
POSITION: Sklavin
taste the sky,
AGE: 4 years
GENDER: Female
BREED: Red wolf
HEIGHT: 26 inches
APPEARANCE:
The thing that stands out the most about Othello, aside from her personality, is usually her cinnamon hued pelt. If one were to peer close, they would see other shades mixed it, such as browns and tawny colors. The tip of her tail is black, as is the tips of mixed strands of fur. She stands at a small twenty six inches, her frame lithe and lean. Her coat is long and coarse, her eyes a chocolate brown color, round and wide. When she walks, it is often slink-like. Her tail is long and bushy, her ears pointed, toenails black in coloration. Lining her lips is white fur, and her voice, when she speaks, is a low, sultry pitch, her words almost ending in a mumble. Because of this, she is often struggling to make herself heard. She is slightly underweight, although it is not extremely noticeable at first.
thoughts that make me go insane,
PERSONALITY:
It has often been debated whether or not Othello is completely insane. If a human were to put a name to how she behaves, it would more than likely be called 'manic bipolar'. Her mood shifts very quickly, and because of this, she often gets herself into trouble - being the Sklavin that she is. She is a lover of the dramatic side of life, a cynic, and hedonistic to the fullest. She will often suddenly find herself full of energy, which frustrates her and is translated into anger. She will also find herself very down at times. She was teased as a pup, her condition being the reason that she was sold into slavery, and because of this, Othello finds it easier to simply not be herself. She never lets anyone glimpse the true her, instead focusing on hiding behind many personas, many different masks. She is scared that if anyone were to ever see the vulnerable, needy side of her, that she would be ridiculed again. So instead, she is the one who does the ridiculing, a bit of a jester if you will. She has lost many close to her in her life time, and because of this, she clings more vigorously to her different personas, finding that it is easier to let go when she is not herself. She finds it simpler to hide than to admit how much she truly just wishes to be accepted as how she truly is.
all over my shoulder,
FATHER: Cleon
MOTHER: Thasia
SIBLINGS: Cassio [m]
HISTORY:
The moment that Othello began to form her personality as a pup, her parents knew that she was off. She and her brother, Cassio, were the only two that her mother had birthed, but even then, Thasia experienced a rough birthing process. Their father, Cleon, had wanted two males. Because of this, he stubbornly insisted on the name Othello for his daughter, promising that she would become as brave and strong as any male. This, unfortunately, did not go according to plan.
It started with Othello abandoning playing with her brother to be by herself. She would often be found talking to herself as if this were the most natural thing in the world. Cleon insisted that this was odd behavior, but Thasia, being the loving mother that she was, wrote it off as 'puppy behavior'. When Othello began to swing from one mood to another, often suddenly and violently, Thasia recognized that there was a problem but refused to admit it. As Othello grew, the other members of the pack grew weary of her odd behavior. She was often ridiculed by other pups, all of her attempts at making friends thwarted. She never let this get to her, or at least, she didn't allow others to know that it did. She went on her merry way, speaking to herself and generally carrying on, bothering no one. Except her father, who seemed extremely bothered by Othello's behavior.
When Othello was nearing eight months, her mother became ill and passed. Cassio took up the position of protecting his sister, but now that Thasia was gone, Cleon was driven mad with grief. He simply wanted to get rid of the thing that reminded him of Thasia most: Othello, who Thasia had so valiantly protected. Othello, who he had always seen as a freak.
Even Cassio was unable to rescue Othello when, four months later, Cleon suddenly attacked. In secret he had been meeting with a Dominor who was convinced that he could break Othello, convinced he could beat the oddness out of her. Othello was drug by her scruff to where the Dominor was waiting.
For three years, Othello remained in his care. She was treated harshly, her life threatened daily, and often not provided with shelter, food, or water. She took to a childlike persona in the beginning, before gradually beginning to act more and more like a different wolf each day. The Dominor, fed up with never being able to predict how Othello would behave, decided that she simply was not worth his time.
