Kronos Entering the tepid air of the swamp felt like walking through mud. The humid atmosphere weighed everything down, holding the marshy land in a stupor. Of course, there was a great deal of actual mud involved as well. Kronos tried to choose the driest path, using clumps of plants and tree roots like stepping stones, but the fur on his paws still carried a slick coating of the dark slime. In time, he hoped to learn the best ways in and out of the swamp and teach them to all the members of his pack. At least he could feel secure that unwanted intruders would find navigating the swamp a struggle and would announce their arrival with much splashing and squelching.
Though he was panting with the heat and humidity, Kronos strode tall and proud. He had a guest who would be watching. And if the leader could not handle the worst of the swamp, he could not ask others to withstand it for him.
As his brown paw came down on a tall clump of cattails, a green blob shot out of it, landing in the water with a plunking sound. Kronos turned his head so he could see Laine at the edge of his vision.
"Frogs. You'll find a lot of them here. Mighty tasty once you get past the skin." A mischievous smile appeared on his face. "Watch yourself near the water, though. There are creatures in there that could take your head of with one bite." Kronos actually had no idea if that was true, but he had seen an animal like a large lizard swimming out in the deeper water. He had yet to see it walk on land though, so he assumed it wouldn't be much of a threat.
"That's the camp up ahead. Stay right behind me."
The place he had chosen as the camp was a small island surrounded by deep mud. Kronos had accidentally step into the day before and suddenly found his whole leg sucked into the mud. The only way onto the island was a small strip of land. Kronos led Laine across it into the camp. The middle was clear except for some rocks, but on the outside were trees with high roots that formed something like dens. A few were too close to the water for sleeping in, but most were dry.
"Welcome to Groavche. Pick a den."

When Laine first entered the marsh land she had to fight off a strong feeling of claustrophobia. The air felt muggy, it felt as though a physical pressure was on all sides of her-- squeezing. Forcing herself to take shallow breaths, Laine followed her new master farther into the marsh, taking in the new scenery. There were trees with enormous trunks that were spaced far apart, but were so large their branches covered nearly all the sky. It was like the world around her was cast in perpetual twilight. Between, and around the trees were pools or stagnant water. The pools were murky and still. Laine wondered if the water was malignant and if it was where was the main water source was located.
They had been walking for quite a while and the silence was becoming disconcerting. The only thing that could be heard was the squelching of the mud they were treading. Then, out of nowhere, out of the corner of her eye Laine saw a green object fly into a pond they were passing with a plunk. It surprised her, causing her foot to slide out from under her. Luckily she caught herself before she face planted into the mud.
"Frogs. You'll find a lot of them here. Mighty tasty once you get past the skin," he said before an impish smile alighted his features. "Watch yourself near the water, though. There are creatures in there that could take your head of with one bite."
She eyed him, slightly unsure whether or not to be believe him. It would seem like he was joking yet she would not put it passed someone whom she did not know to find amusement from her head being bitten off.
"That's the camp up ahead. Stay right behind me." As he said this Laine saw an island slowly coming into view. She moved so she was right behind Kronos but tried to look around him to assess her new dwelling. Only problem was that Kronos was about twice her size and blocked her view. She just settled for staring just above his ears.
When they finally entered the camp she had a chance to look around. She found to her great relief that the ground was dry and there was sheltered places for sleeping. It wasn't the hot, dry rock she previously inhabited or the warm, sun speckled grass of her childhood home, but she could live here without complaint.
"Welcome to Groavche. Pick a den."
Laine nodded. "Yes Sir." She walked off to find a den suitable for her to sleep in and await her masters command. ooc//: Sorry for the wait. My muse has been somewhere else. I hope this will do.
