KASIMIRA The heat had finally faded from the territory, just as dusk began to fall, a silent bird that carpeted the world in a deep sleep. A black she-wolf slunk among the long meadow grasses, her eyes shut as a strange calm sank over her. Tortuga, her mate, had taken Kyren, Calliope and Korie to offer gifts to Eperna, leaving Matrid with her at home. Zy was another matter completely. The brute was in serious trouble when he returned. Kasimira had no doubt in her mind that he would return; it was merely a matter of when. And if he was smart at all he'd purposefully wait until she had been calmed considerably by Tortuga's imposing presence. His sentencing would probably be much lighter that way.
By far, this was the vixen's favorite time of the day. The slender shadows of the dark would creep out of their daylight hiding spots to scamper and flutter over the soft grounds, cackling with the wind's breeze, sparking small dreams of flame with the beginnings of nocturnal sleep. And as night progressed further the ashen figures would multiply into the fading light, becoming like a sweet poison that covered the land, infecting every blade of grass within the meadow's reaching borders. Their cries would howl like an eerie chilling silence where your breath was no longer inaudible; every sound was amplified to the extreme, every heart beat a thudding drum of war, every snap of a twig the marching of an invading army.
Kasimira wandered on, her mind blazing fire as her fantasy grew before her, the dark traces nimbly crawling forth from the protection nearby forest pines offered. Still, the queen moved on without a second glance their direction. They were not living, only the vague figments of her racing, vain imagination. It was with ease that the matching black wolf slipped inside the Alpha den, a chilling air greeting her at the entrance. It had always remained cooler in this den, and Kasimira was appreciative of the release from the dying, blazing heat again today. If only Tortuga were here to spend the night with her. Would he return in time to snuggle beside her and lull her to sleep with the soft coos of passion and gentle promises of life together?
It was then that the pain struck her. Like a wave it crashed over her, powerful and startling. Kasimira's breath caught in her throat, the thoughts of Tortuga's arrival lost to the contractions that rippled through her. Was it time? Would she be okay? Questions buzzed in the she-wolf's mind as she got up and barked urgently for Matrid outside the cave. No response. Surely she would come to help her? With a tinge of worry pricking her pelt Kasimira lay down, her mind battling the new emotions, a strange feeling of struggle falling over her. In a few hours Irrsin would have heirs... With the thoughts of Tortuga once again blanketing her mind, Kasimira slowly began to drift off into a world of snarling agony and flickering hope.

MATRID
*
A dark shape huddled beside the entrance to the den, cranium dipped low, eyes dancing across the land. The she-wolf, for a moment, resembled a bull about to charge. Her muscles were held somewhere between tense and relaxed, her ears perked forward, latching onto every sound that reached them. Occasionally Matrid's gaze flickered to the ever-growing shadows, watching them extend, but they were not what held her full attention. Her eyes were searching for Kasimira, her Alpha, who had wandered out a decent while ago.
Tortuga, her other Alpha, had disappeared as well. But unlike Kasimira, he had crossed the border, taking the sklavins Korie and Calliope with him, as well as the Beta and her mate, Kyren. Just thinking of her mate had her half-tense muscle loosening, releasing their tension, until she was relaxed, somehow managing to remain semi-alert. She found her thoughts once more wondering back to what Kyren had said to her ages ago, about defining herself by who she wanted to be. She had found that her thoughts had became fond of clinging to these remembered words, and she shifted, her head lifting just a bit more than usual, her expression something that could almost be considered proud.
Suddenly, a shadow sprang forward. But no, not a shadow. She thought as her eyes adjusted, studying the shape. Kasimira. She hurridly ducked her head back down, eyes on the ground as the Alpha shot past her, slinking into the den. For a moment, Matrid longed to be inside of the cave where she knew it was cooler than the heavy, humid heat that being outside offered. But then she remembered that she was the only one present aside from Kasimira, and that she had to keep watch for her pregnant Alpha. She felt a fierce protective urge race through her, almost like fire through her veins, the feeling that loyal Skalvins experienced towards their Alpha. She respected Kasimira, that was no secret. Therefore, she would protect her with her life. That, too, was expected.
Getting to her feet, paw pads sliding through the dirt, she shook herself daintily, somehow managing to make her bulky frame appear more feminine. She stretched, her jaws opening wide in the form of a yawn, blinked a few times to clear her watery eyes, and then was off. She made sure not to wander too far away from the cave, but closer to one of the pines that had seperated slightly from the looming forest. Lowering her gray body to the ground, belly touching the underbrush and stray pine needles that had fallen, she settled down, the shadow of the tree covering her. From here, she could see the den, and see one who might approach it. She laid her heavy head atop her paws, sighing to herself as her eyes continued to roam.
Suddenly, a clamant bark reached her ears, causing them to spring forward, alert. For a moment, she was still. Then she was springing to her feet, nearly stumbling over herself as she dashed for the caves. Her muscles bunched, coiled as she prepared herself for a particularly long stride that resulted in her body being hurled into the den. She was positive that her shoulder would bruise - possibly bleed - from scraping against the wall so hard, but she didn't care. The dull, throbbing pain was absolutely nothing compared to the concern she felt for her Alpha. Had something gotten past her somehow? Had someone made their way into the den? The thought had a growl growing in her chest, rolling up her throat, across her tongue, past her incinsors, a deep, rumbling sound. She couldn't remember the last time she had sounded so ominous.
The first thing her chocolate colored eyes found was Kasimira's form on the floor. The scent coming from the Alpha, and something about the way she was laying gave everything away. She was in labor. "Lady Kasimira!" She was nearly breathless, her voice coming out as a gasp. She trotted forward hurridly, crouching down beside the Alpha, close only because of the urgency of the situation - otherwise, she would have never dared to place herself so near the elegant Kasimira. But now was hardly the time for worrying about a disciplinary nip or have concerns about being berated. Pups were on the way.
"I'm here."
There wasn't much else that Matrid could do, except for let Kasimira know that she was present. Matrid knew that they had a long night ahead of them, and in Kasimira's case, an excruciating one. But Matrid also knew that she would be there through it all, no matter how long it took. She would crouch there for as many hours as needed, offering whispered condolences and praying to the Gods that Kasimira had an easy birth, and that all of the pups were healthy.

KASIMIRA "Lady Kasimira!"
A sharp staccato note sliced through the air towards her but the queen hardly heard, the thudding of a wildly frantic heart only amplified by the gnawing fear that had entered her. The pains came swifter now in the moments that had slithered past and Kasimira's head flitted on the border of recognizing the tell-tale spasms and falling into a closing darkness. Fight it. It was her first instinct, the call that barked through her as the shadows she had entertained herself with earlier crept closer. Their glistening teeth sparked images of grotesque figures tearing into her sides with razor teeth and Kasimira whined in protest, a weak growl slipping off her lips. Something in Kasimira shifted however, and her anger became directed towards the only other wolf on the territory, a snarl lingering in her glazed eyes.
"Find Tortuga."
Kasimira tried vainly to calm her fraying nerves as pain ripped her tolerance open, shattering her usual confidence. This was something completely new to her. Never before has she felt an agony like this--how it sliced into her frame like molten fire, the bursting, burning flames licking the edges of her blurred vision, the heat numbing her to the breathing, outside world. The air she gulped for was thick with an invisible smoke, choking her lungs. Thinking made her dizzy and the world spun for moment as Kasimira clamped her eyes shut. Make it end. Her voice came more softly, added to her command, this time a plea.
"Please..."
Kasimira watched vaguely as her sklavin's form drifted from her tunnel. Maybe she was gone, maybe she wasn't. It wasn't time to worry about that. The black queen held her breath as a strong wave washed over her, slowly numbing her to the core. Oh, Eperna...
---
As the night dragged on the small whines and cries of newborn pups could be heard from outside the rock den. Three beautiful puppies were hers. All hers. Kasimira let her gaze drift over the pups that nuzzled her side with adoration, their young voices squeaking contentment. It had been rough giving birth--Kasimira had cursed repeatedly to no effect while the last stages of labor had been taking place--but here was her reward, all tied up in the bundled flesh of the whelps before her. How sweet their little noses were when they nudged her flank for nourishment! It was a true mother's lingering gaze that settled upon the three children, Kasimira's mind racing with thoughts of futures and names and all the elements that these new lives had brought.
Kasimira carefully looked over her eldest pup. It was female and she had been beautifully draped in a snow coated color of white like her father. The queen leaned down to plant a gentle lick on her daughter's head. Should she wait for Tortuga to get back to name them? For a moment silence carpeted the air between the mother and her pups, mind falling blank. Then, quietly her voice fluttering into being, speaking the first born child's name.
"Dresna."
An elegant name for my first born. Pride ripped viciously through the black female as she watched her offspring bicker over food, their playful growls slipping into the makings of a yawn. What would they be like? Would they take after Tortuga or herself? They probably will be just as confident and cocky as both of us are. Kasimira chuckled to herself, a light smile playing on her facade. Who knew pups could make her this easy going?
"Matrid? Care to see the new additions?"
For once Kasimira didn't care that Matrid was her sklavin and it was untraditional for the pack to see the litter before the father. Tortuga would see them soon enough and he would not be sour that she had allowed Matrid this special offer. Blinking her blue eyes at Matrid, Kasimira glimmered with a new hope and happiness.
"Aren't they precious?"

MATRID
*
When Kasimira snapped for Matrid to retrieve her mate, she wasn't surprised. But when the Queen added a soft "please", Matrid realized the urgency of the situation. She began to back out of the cave quickly, before freezing, looking to Kasimira. The Alpha was clearly in a great deal of pain, pain that Matrid couldn't imagine. And of course, it was expected that she would want her mate with her. But if Matrid left Kasimira, there would be no one in Irrsin - with the exception of a she-wolf in labor. She had been given an order, but she couldn't possibly begin to fathom leaving Kasimira alone. So, with that thought in mind, she lowered herself into a laying position, letting a soft whine escape from between clenched teeth.
It was a long night, seeming to drag on forever. Matrid spent most of it pacing the interest, snapping and snarling at the slightest sign of movement outside of the cave, whether it be the wind picking up or on one occasion, a bat fluttering past. She was helpless when it came to Kasimira, causing her to become flustered and agitated. Although Matrid knew nothing about birthing and pups, she could tell that Kasimira was having a rough time. The Sklavin found herself pacing close to Kasimira and then away, eyes shifting desperately, wishing that one of the others would return.
She found herself outside of the dens, her body still blocking the entrance, yet far enough out to experience the moonlight illuminating her frame. She tipped her head back, ears plastered against her skull, a howl slipping from her lips. She could only hope that Tortuga, Kyren, and Calliope were close enough to hear it. Lowering her head, she cast an anxious glance at the horizon before turning and loping back inside of the cave.
What seemed like hours later, Kasimira suddenly stopped squirming. Taking up the writhing was now three beautiful pups. Matrid was sure to keep her distance, but she looked on curiously, feeling a pang somewhere in her heart.
"Matrid? Care to see the new additions?"
Her eyes widened, and very cautiously, she edged forward. She felt as if she were being given a privilege. Being one of the first to see the pups seemed big, and Matrid wasn't going to pass it up. As she crept closer, she examined them, making sure not to draw too close. Her eyes went immediately to the white one, and then to the other two. Her tail began to sway back and forth slowly as she looked on.
"Aren't they precious?"
"They really are." Matrid said softly, her gaze flickering from the pups to Kasimira. "I'm sorry I ignored your order to retrieve Sir Tortuga. I just couldn't stand the idea of leaving you here by yourself."
She was quiet for a moment after her apology, before her eyes strayed once more to the pups. "Do you know what you'll call them?"

[atrb=width,500,true][atrb=border,0,true][bg=000000]
As night crept across the flowing plains of Irrsin so, too, did another rogue like figure. He slunk casually over the border without even giving a second glance. Hesitation was nowhere on this male's mind, because if it was, he would have melted back into the encroaching darkness, scarcely to be seen again until the light of the sun clawed its way back out upon the sky. He knew what he had to do, as destiny hardly knocked more than once, since it was a busy thing, and had to do many things that busy things like destiny had to do busily. Perhaps if destiny got some assistants, bees maybe, since they, too, seemed to always be rushing somewhere, then it'd have time to give pitiful beings like Zy more than one chance at fixing mistakes. It'd save Destiny so much trouble in the long run, probably even make it a kinder, more forgiving entity, and save the male a lifetime of unfortunate events filled with dead ends and doors that locked from the outside, much like the predicament he'd gotten himself into this time.
Having been fed up with a new male named Kyren's high and mighty attitude he'd flipped a table and stormed out of the room screaming 'YOU AND MOM NEVER UNDERSTAND ME!1!!ONE!'. Ok, so maybe it wasn't exactly like that, seeing as his mom wasn't anywhere near there at the time, and he never met his dad, but it might as well have been. He'd acted like a spoiled brat and let that asshat get to him. He couldn't figure which was more infuriating, the other male, or his own actions. But now wasn't the time to get himself all worked up again as he was heading back to the scene of the crime. Zy was going to face the music, stand trial, take what was coming to him, and then redirect it on some poor soul named Kyren. If all else failed, he'd at least take it with a smirk and malevolent glare at the other male that said 'you're next.'
Speaking of explaining himself, Zy might as well think of a reason as to why he left the borders in the first place. Maybe he could blame it on his stupidity, after all, he assumed none of the wolves thought he was very bright, which was relatively true when it came to common sense. It was a possibility that he could have just not noticed the border. Got a case of tunnel vision, was too focused on following prey, or maybe there was another wolf near the border, which... there was but... that's another tale for another time. Prey, that's right, he told everyone he was off hunting. He'd have to bring back something or else things would get even worse for the male. Maybe food would be enough of a distraction to lessen Kasimira's rage which the male knew would be harsh and unforgiving, in spite of his hunch of her being injured.
Stopping his rather unenthusiastic gait, Zy paused to listen for any sort of tell tale sounds sleeping small creatures might make. His vision in low light had always been fairly good, unlike his sense of smell, which for one odd reason or another, probably correlating to the multiple swipes it had received, suffered over the years. If the male had to choose a time for hunting it'd be dusk, mainly due to the hues in his pelt meshing perfectly with the diluted colors of evening. With the wide expanse of flat terrain and tall grasses the male was in his element. Although he never was much for hunting, small game in this area would be perfect for his slight build. He was made for sneaking and sprinting, if you could get him to shut up long enough not to startle everything away. After a few minutes of scanning his surroundings Zy honed in on an average sized hare and the chase began. Almost immediately after reaching his top speed the small mammal was trapped by his vice-like grip. At least this was something he could do right.
Zy trotted along, swinging the rabbit like some child-abused ragdoll from his mouth, heading to where his sense of direction labeled as homebase. As he was making his merry way to his own demise, a howl flew across the darkening sky, settling itself in his ears, before continuing its journey to who knows where. The sklavin recognized the familiar notes as those belonging to Matrid, making him wonder just what the big ordeal was. He picked up his loping pace to a brisk jog, curiosity fueling his increased speed. Slowly a familiar landmark appeared on the horizon, his bffs, the gaping holes in the ground these wolves called dens. The nearer he drew, the more obvious which of the many sites was the epicenter of activity, and cause of the commotion he heard earlier. Carefully he maneuvered himself inside the snug cavern, brushing past Matrid as casually as a Zy could.
"Oh hunnies, I'm hooome~ Guess what daddy got for-- Woah, we got puppies." He stopped suddenly a few paces from being even with Matrid's front paws and set the poor ragdoll of a dead bunny down. "Ok. That is so not my fault, even though I wouldn't mind what would've gone down before the stork visit." He smirked playfully, acting as though there was no reason at all for Kasimira to have ever been mad at such an innocent wolf. Maybe he'd get lucky and pups would make the cold edged queen too warm and squishy to want to take him out behind the dumpster and mess him up. But that got Zy thinking. Puppies didn't just get airmailed in by birds; caves don't have mailboxes, and wolves don't have thumbs to sign for packages. Brilliance struck him again; he had such deductive skills. But the thing this sprouting genius couldn't figure out was the most important question. "Who was the other gene donor?" His mind automatically drifted to the only other male he knew of around this area.
"Please tell me you found some other strappingly handsome guy like me and didn't settle for that ass, Kyren? I know you have higher standards than him."
If the now pouting male had just used his nose instead of letting his tiny brain jump to wild conclusions he would have smelled another male scent somewhere around the den site, or at least have noticed the pelts were all wrong for a KK baby combo. Oh well, the poor guy'll figure it out eventually.
OOC;; Silly Zy! Caves don't have addresses. The stork couldn't even find the place, mailboxes wouldn't matter. :D lololol. 1135, And I could have rambled more. 8I I was getting tired of typing, if you couldn't tell in some parts by the horrible... sentence.. structure. YAY IDK HOW THIS IS WORKINGGG. Zy gets to be an uncle. SOMUCHJOY <3

KASIMIRA "They really are."
Matrid's short approval of her litter was an uplifting comment--Kasimira's frame lifted a little higher, her eyes gleaming with pride that she hadn't tried to hide. Matrid continued speaking and Kasimira directed her full attention to her sklavin, eyes glinting a small hint of respect from within those blue depths.
"I'm sorry I ignored your order to retrieve Sir Tortuga. I just couldn't stand the idea of leaving you here by yourself."
"Apology accepted. You did what you thought best for the safety of myself and my pups. That's all I request."
Kasimira blinked her eyes at Matrid before looking away; she was almost hesitant to watch the look of surprise grow on her slave's face. It would do her no good to bicker at a time like this when the environment should be joyous and elated at the birth of new life. Nothing would intervene in her children's lives from here on out. Kasimira silently spoke to herself, a promise, a pact. She would be respectful, and while still harsh when needed, maybe all that aggressive behavior could be slightly lifted for the wolves that were so willing to lie down their lives for her own. Kyren and Matrid, along with her favorite Calliope, had proved themselves loyal to her. The least she could do would be to show an ounce of respect for the gallons they had shown her. "Do you know what you'll call them?"
Matrid's hushed voice hit her and Kasimira was quick to respond, her eyes running gently over her firstborn's snowy coat.
"This is Dresna, first born and new heir of Irrsin."
With delight Kasimira glanced up at Matrid, her eyes flashing. Next the black she-wolf motioned her muzzle towards the black male, his squeaks louder than his sisters'.
"I was thinking Marzell for him. I saved the last one, a female, for Tortuga to decide on."
As Kasimira spoke her son's name he let out a small growl and the queen laughed quietly, nudging him closer to her flank. A coo danced off her lips as she studied him with her blue eyes, watching with curiosity his movements, the strange paddling reach he made over his sisters. That one, white back leg. How strange--maybe it was a sign. The ebony female shook her head before turning her attention to the youngest daughter.
The third pup was black like her brother but her ears and limbs were splashed with a vibrant white; it stood out in stark contrast to each other, the dark and the white mixing in a lovely combination. Her children were beautiful representations of herself and Tortuga. A fierce emotion welled up inside the she-wolf as she looked at them, her heart pounding out her feelings and thoughts. You will be raised as royalty. The best of your country, born to lead. I will make sure nothing ever harms you...
Kasimira got caught up in her thoughts for a moment; the crunching of grass from outside the cave made her fur stand on edge as a shadow flashed onto the opposing wall. Kasimira growled softly before speaking, raising herself precariously off the floor. The three pups whined for their mother's warmth but Kasimira stood tall, snarling as she leaned over her children.
As the figure brashly entered the cave Kasimira growled louder until she began to recognize the tell-tale features of a wolf she knew. Zy. So he was back! Just as she had predicted he would be.
"Oh hunnies, I'm hooome~ Guess what daddy got for-- Woah, we got puppies. Ok. That is so not my fault, even though I wouldn't mind what would've gone down before the stork visit."
The loose greeting and sing-song tone were too much for Kasimira. So much for that 'respect' idea. Zy's face seemed rather blown away by the arrival of a litter--this was the moment to attack. Azure eyes glittering unconfined hostility, Kasimira sauntered over to Zy, her nose leaning into his face as she snarled her threats. It was all too apparent the sexual innuendo had been too much for the cooped-up queen.
"Where have you been? Waltzing around the falls? Cavorting with the neighboring packs? Prancing through meadows with pretty butterflies?"
Kasimira's pelt rippled angrily as she paused her tirade, throwing a glance at the pitiful looking animal that he had somehow managed to track down. It looked like a mere whelp had caught it, with the fur sticking out in all directions and the drool that globed together on the rabbit's half remaining ear. Disgusting.
"And that vermin is the best you could do? A rabbit the size of your brain? Honestly."
It was the sighing sound of an exasperated mentor talking down to a failing pupil that slithered off Kasimira's lips. Still, her words seemed to have missed their target; Zy's voice kept moving and the words kept flowing. You are digging your own grave.
"Please tell me you found some other strappingly handsome guy like me and didn't settle for that ass, Kyren? I know you have higher standards than him."
It was with a new bitterness that Kasimira responded, her posture becoming more frustrated that before. Zy obviously had no idea when to stop crossing the line she'd drawn.
"Kyren? This has got to be some sick joke. Not in a million years."
For a moment a hint of laughter flickered flirtatiously in the black female's eyes before it was replaced by a flush of disdain.
"Still, Kyren would be better than a wolf who left."
Kasimira's eyes flashed impatience at his lack of logic connection. Didn't he smell Tortuga on her fur? The queen had thought the smell would never leave. How sweet it was to her, the deep pine aroma... Snap out of it. There wasn't time for lolly gagging mindlessly about Tortuga. However attractive he was...
"What do you have to say for yourself, sklavin?"
I could always let Kyren decide his punishment as a trial for Kyren's leadership... Smirking, Kasimira waited for the fugitive's response.

MATRID
* "Apology accepted. You did what you thought best for the safety of myself and my pups. That's all I request."
Matrid let a relieved sigh fall from her maw, the noise soft and low. The absolute last thing she wanted was for Kasimira to be angry with her, and finding out that she wasn't lifted a weight off of the Sklavin's shoulders. She listened intently as Kasimira introduced the first two as Dresna and Marzell, commiting the names to her memory. She knew that Kasimira must have been incredibly proud of the pups. And she also knew that they would be raised well, with two fierce, noble parents. She was honored that she would be able to help look after them while they were young, and even more honored that she would be able to see what fine wolves they grew in to.
Suddenly a shadow fell across the cave, and Kasimira leapt to her feet, a snarling mass of fur. Matrid whirled, closest to the mouth of the cave. Instincts made her hackles rise, her lips pulling away to reveal ivory incisors. She lifted herself to her full height, using her bulk to make her appear more threatening for the first time in her life. If it meant protecting the Queen and her heir, Matrid would eagerly hurl herself at any opponent, even if it meant certain death.
Certain death, however, was not required. Zy strolled right past Matrid, who deflated like a balloon, her fur smoothing out and her eyes blinking rapidly in surprise. His words were suggestive if not slightly surprised, and Matrid cringed, no longer the fierce being that she had seen herself as moments before. Now, she was expecting the Queen to brew up a storm over Zy's aloof return. And Matrid was not disappointed. Kasimira lit into Zy, her words making Matrid very glad that they were not directed at her.
Matrid's eyes fell to the hare laying limp on the ground, it's body broken and mangled. She wasn't sure if she should feel sorry for Zy, or if he deserved what he was getting from Kasimira. She had liked the brute from the start, but he had left Irrsin and not returned, even when his Queen called for him. Matrid, already feeling as if she were growing more and more loyal towards Kasimira, found this almost hard to believe. In fact, she might not have if she hadn't been with Kyren when they discovered that Zy had crossed the border. Or, at least they assumed he had. Nothing was certain. Point being, Matrid could have never seen her doing something like that.
Matrid was still focused on the hare, lost in thoughts, when more movement outside of the cave caught her eye. She turned, bristling once more, but a flash of white had the Sklavin lowering her hackles again, her posture sliding into a more submissive pose. Her eyes were averted still, but she was more aware than ever. Tortuga had returned, which also meant that with him, he had brought her mate, Kyren, and fellow Sklavin Calliope - who Matrid was quite fond of. She was uncertain if she should be cheerful at their return, or still solemn due to the harsh words directed at Zy.

The wind screamed past his ears with each massive step that the ivory hued wolf took. He was sprinting now, aware of the fact that he was drawing close to Irrsin borders. If one unaware of the current situation had seen the alpha male dashing across the land, Beta and Sklavin in tow, they might have wondered where the fire was. The urgency of the situation was due to the fact that just hours before, Tortuga had been informed by Eperna herself that his mate and the Queen of Irrsin, Kasimira, was giving birth to their puppies as they spoke. In response to this, Tortuga had swelled with feelings of both joy and a pressing anxiousness to return to his mate. So here the night found him, stars twinkling above as he finally crossed the border of Irrsin.
Aware of the other two behind him, he slowed just slightly until he was running alongside Kyren, the newly appointed Beta. Earlier the brute had not only congratulated Tortuga on his pups, but had also requested to speak with the Alpha once matters weren't so pressing. At the time, Tortuga had just been informed of Kasimira's labor, and while he had heard the Beta's words, he hadn't given a response. Now that he was drawing closer to the dens, Tortuga glanced at the wolf, a half-smile twitching at his lips.
"Kyren," he began, his voice low so that it only reached the Beta's ears. "I apologize for not responding earlier. But I did hear your request, and as soon as everything with the pups has settled, I will be sure to pull you aside so that we may speak."
He gazed at Kyren for a moment longer before turning his attention back forward. The dens were in sight now, and he slowed to a brisk, clipped trot so as not to go barreling into the caves. The last thing he wanted was to startle Kasimira, the pups, or Matrid, who he knew was likely keeping watch over Kasimira, ready to spring at any intruder. With this in mind, he cautiously ducked down into the dens.
Just as he had expected, Matrid was waiting, bristled. The moment she noticed him she crouched down low, showing her submission. Satisfied that he hadn't been attacked due to a misunderstanding, the wolf turned his attention to the center of the cave. The other male's scent hit him at the exact same moment that Tortuga laid eyes on him. The brute in question was standing before a bloodied hare, speaking with Kasimira, who looked fierce and furious as she stood over her pups. Their pups. The moment Tortuga laid eyes on them, he faltered, his gaze quickly taking in their appearances. Even from a distance, he could tell that they were beautiful. But as much as he would have liked to rush to them, to examine them and memorize everything about them, there seemed to be a more pressing matter.
He loped around in a circle so that he came to a halt beside Kasimira, sides heaving and nostrils flaring. His spine stung as his hackles rose fast, cerulean eyes locked onto the ebony male who stood before them. Then, suddenly, it hit him. A Sklavin who crossed the borders...Zy. Vaguely he could remember this male, Zy, being mentioned in conversation. He also remembered seeing the tail end of him in the meadow. The pack had spoken about what was to be done about him, it seemed, and Kasimira had seemed confident that he would return. It seemed that she was correct. Allowing his hackles to lay flat once more, Tortuga tilted his head to one side just slightly. His mind briefly wondered how Kyren would react; memories of his first visit into Irrsin when he had caught the last bit of Kyren and Zy's argument flitted through his mind. A better question is, how will Zy react to Kyren's new status? It seems that they aren't very fond of each other. He considered this before shaking his head just slightly. His gaze went briefly to Kasimira, affectionate and warmth flickering clear in his eyes, before he turned back to face Zy. A small smirk came over his features as he studied the Sklavin before he spoke, his deep voice as serene and calm as ever, although it was tinted with curiosity.
"Well, well, could this perhaps be the infamous Zy?"

Zy's hopes of a calmer Queen were dashed as the lady broke into another of her tirades at the irritating male. She flung word after word, but each icy dagger missed their mark, deflected by a shield of ignorance and selective hearing. Apparently she was trying to tell him there was something he did wrong, but he didn't quite catch what it was. A better question would be to ask what Zy did right. It'd be only a point or two instead of an entire Christmas list of mistakes. It was the same speech from every dominor; nothing was ever good enough. Half of the reason he botched up nearly all his assignments was due to the unreachable expectations put into place by his masters.
"Kyren would be better than a wolf who left."
'Everyone's a critic, even when I do what I'm told. Should be glad I even came back,' he mused grumpily to himself. Zy could only imagine the possibilities if he didn't return. Her Highness would have been wrong, potentially denting her confidence, or at least generating a bit of social unrest. He could have wandered off into another pack's lands and told them he escaped without a fight from Irrsin's fearsome alpha. Maybe that would make other packs think hers was weak, letting such a pathetic looking boy like himself weasel out of her command. He'd caused it before, the spiteful devil, and that pack fell apart. But, truthfully, he wasn't sure if he could do that to this tiny band of miscreants. Kasimira was entertaining to upset and wasn't the worst alpha he'd seen. She was ambitious, obviously, meaning that as long as he kept pushing, the stubborn royal would shove right back. But there was something beyond just his odd choice of fun and fear of freedom that brought him back. He blamed it on curiosity, but perhaps it was something more than that. Perhaps he, in all his years behind solid walls, was beginning to grow bored with the black and the grey and the constant sheet of stone and ice. He felt himself starting to think again, and immediately halted that mental process. Luckily the steaming shewolf was an easy distraction, and he managed to catch enough strands to knit together what she was in such an uproar about.
"What do you have to say for yourself, sklavin?"
So many options, and Zy was about to disregard the warning signs at Mongolian Grill that caution customers to mixing certain foods together, metaphorically of course. Wolves wouldn't mix 9 different spices with 5 different sauces. Regardless of the choices he made, he was still screwed, because nothing he said would ever please Kasimira. He was up the creek without a paddle, and the flood waters were rising every second he sat deciding if he should go out on a limb and even attempt self-rescue. Before he even had a chance to begin his woeful tale, accounting for his adventures beyond the stupidity zone, he was saved by a smear of white that streaked past him.
The white mass swirled to face him, snarling, and generally confusing Zy with his sudden aggression. The dark male leaned his head to the left at a slight angle and scrunched together his eyebrows in the universal canine look of 'wtf are you doing, crazy.' For some reason his brain appeared to work better in this position and a plethora of thoughts began connecting together to form a roundabout conclusion. It was like a Holmes detective moment, only more slow, obvious, and not nearly as British. He'd seen this guy before when he stormed off after Kyren and him's little spat; shoved past him like a total d-bag. Not the best first impression. Then another fact surfaced. This guy must be the father! Inside his tiny head a little soap opera was playing out, complete with crappy music and horrible acting, accounting for his excitement in this realization. It seemed as Zy was remembering who Mr.Bristles was, the other had done the same for him. The display of aggression stopped and a calming persona took over.
"Well, well, could this perhaps be the infamous Zy?"
Infamous? Still had the word famous in it. Zy approved. He had a feeling he was about to get even more so as soon as he started talking again. Nothing good ever came from anything he said.
"The one and only." He gave a false bow and sarcastic grin. "Or I will be until Queenie decides to off me in the next few minutes." He honestly wouldn't put it past the alpha at this moment, she was kinda... really pissed.
"This guy saw me leave. He can vouch for me, right? I figure you'd rather me try and be helpful instead of wiping the floor with the jerk you picked up from the auctions. Y'know, since it wasn't my place and all." Obviously referencing Kyren. Fighting amongst the ranks seemed worse than Zy taking a jog and coming back, even though it was a rather long one. Plus Kyren had started it, why should he get in trouble for it. "I wasn't paying complete attention to where I was going, you know how hard it is to focus when all you want to do is rip someones tongue out right?" He paused and gave an apologetic look at Kasimira. She obviously was feeling that right now towards him. "... And I kinda... lost my bearings. Calli tried to tell me to not wander so far but, I didn't listen and ditched her. My nose isn't the best out there, and I don't know my way around yet. Crossed the border, talked to a wolf that pointed me in the right direction and started walking here. If anything I at least proved I'd come back."
All of that was mostly true, just maybe said from a different light that favored his side. It seemed sound to him, but if anyone was going to find a flaw in it it'd be Kasimira and her royal need for perfection. "Help a fellow man out here Mr...?" Plea with the boyfriend. Man to man connection. Go for it. He has to understand, right? Hopefully Snowball here had a cooler temper than his ice queen. Zy could use all the help he could get.
OOC;; These are some odd looking paragraphs. 8I;; toomuchtalkingggg. lol.

Kyren followed Tortuga, silent when he received no answer. It wasn’t overly surprising considering the news they had just received. The queen of this pack had her pups and an eager father could think of nothing but going to see the small lives he had helped to bring into the world. How recently it had been that such a thing would have seemed foolish to Kyren, expected but unnecessary. What he had understood in logic, now he could understand emotionally as well. There would come a time when Matrid would help him to create a batch of pups. How fine they would be! The pride he felt at the thought must be enhanced in Tortuga with his now a reality.
The running helped to relax Kyren’s mind, letting his new set of questions and concerns find their own spot of importance to be taken one at a time. He had felt awkward asking to speak with Tortuga about something that felt so improper to him. Improper but right and unavoidable. While his voice had sounded controlled before, now he could find that inner strength to not worry about the conversation. What would happen would happen.
Kyren shifted his head slightly to face Tortuga as the wolf moved beside him. At Tortuga’s smile at him, Kyren met it with his own smile, one that showed a fierce pride, the pride for the pack and the alpha’s of the pack. He would never forget there would come a day when he would be alpha of his own pack, but it was becoming easier and easier to remember that first he would make this pack strong, excellent, and unstoppable. This was his pack, a spot to belong for now, and so it would be the best of what was out there. It seemed a good sign that the alpha would run beside him, a sign of his new status in the familiarity.
"I apologize for not responding earlier. But I did hear your request, and as soon as everything with the pups has settled, I will be sure to pull you aside so that we may speak."
He offered a tilt of his head and a nod. “Of course. Your Queen, and your pups are the main thing on your mind, as should be.”As they grew closer, and as the den came into sight, Kyren slowed down falling in several strides behind Tortuga. Let the alpha meet his new pups first without Calliope and him barging in right away. A few more strides and he went into a slow jog, his gaze shifting to Calliope for a moment to make sure she did likewise. Without the excitement of a new father stalking his mind Kyren caught a well-remembered scent quickly enough. Zy. Well, well you were intelligent enough, and bold enough to return. What will you do lady Kas? You have newborn pups to mesmerize you and yet here returns a runaway. Also, at the entrance to the den was Matrid, his mate. This was not the time to announce or show signs of their sudden affection for one another. Still, as he strode passed her he offered a small secret smile, and yet it was all he dare offer right now. Zy was inside, pups were inside, and the two alpha’s who could be either enthralled with the pups or pissed off about Zy.
"Help a fellow man out here Mr...?"
“Lord, might fill in the spot better.” Kyren’s tone was almost conversational as glanced Zy over once. Kyren’s entrance was gracefully made, stepping up so that he stood off to one side and in between the alpha’s and Zy. Standing in a good neutral role that could allow him to see both parties with his one eye. Obviously either alpha could say different, but it seemed a minor wrong that alpha’s needn’t bother dealing with. At some point Zy needed to learn manners. It was also proof that he could speak calmly in front of this aggravating sklavin. Tortuga didn’t appear overly angry at Zy, but Kasimira looked far from happy. They appeared healthy, as expected, but they probably wondered what happened to the source of warmth and food their mother would provide. Zy. A soft snort as he more obviously looked to the pups first, as they were of far more importance to the pack and alpha’s than some pathetic sklavin such as Zy. “Lady, your pups are beautiful, sure to be excellent leaders as their parents.” The words were said with a soft sincerity, doing his best to make sure understood they were true words, and not just something fancily said to earn points.
A short mental count to four in his head before turning his glance upon Zy. “I see the runaway sklavin has finally thought to reappear.” The words were said neutrally, offering no signs of what his thoughts were to the curr’s reappearance. Here was a new problem he hadn’t bothered putting any thought into. Zy had proved talented at pissing him off. As an alpha, and especially one of a larger pack it was proper and safe to tear such a sklavin into shreds. As the beta of a smaller pack he had to try and not rush into such rash acts. All the wolves would be needed for the packs growth and strengthening. Zy needed to learn he was below him, and yet being overly petty would do no one any good. It would be fun of course; a small smile was only there for half a second and then pushed away. Fun was not something he could make as a priority.
Actually, this would be worse than just controlling himself in his desire to tear the trash apart. He would have to help make Zy feel as if he truly belonged to the pack, and in such a way he desired to not run off because of loyalty, not just fear of their wrath. Damn. A slow and deep tolerating sigh as he focused his mind on this moment in time. Pups just arrived, Zy just arrived, and his mate at the den entrance, too much could be determined by one’s actions in these moments.

Calliope There was lightness to Calliope's soul as she raced over Irrsin. The worries that had occupied her mind for so long were now gone, given to the goddess to banish to some faraway place. Instead, Calliope noticed how clear the sky was that night and how sweet the sweet of the grass and flowers. The symphony of crickets created a pleasant white noise to fill the dark. Both the moon and the stars shone bright, reminding the fae of her powerful protectors. With a spring in her step, Calliope felt she was more than herself. She was strong and she could run forever.
The two males before her drew close to one another, their voices low in conference. Not being invited into their conversation, Calliope had little interest in what they were saying. The world of leadership was none of her business, thank Iudex. Her nose announced the camp and Calliope sighed with happiness at the thought of a long rest. After she had visited the pups, of course. Kyren slowed as they approached, letting Tortuga bound ahead. Following the Beta's lead, Calliope let her gait drop to a trot. Without the wind in her fur, she was suddenly aware of her exertion. Her lips parted to gulp the air, letting her pink tongue escape.
Matrid stood in the entrance of the den, clearly assigned the job of guard for the moment. Kyren strode past her, but Calliope stopped to acknowledge her fellow slave.
"You won't believe what happen up there," she whispered. "I'll tell you about it after--"
Calliope had glanced over Matrid shoulder to the interior of the den. They she caught sight of a pelt she had all but forgotten about. She felt like she had run headfirst into one of the cave's stone walls: dazed and unable to catch her breath. She shouldn't have been surprised to see him here--hadn't Kasimira predicted his return?--but part of her had honestly believed that he had run away for good. Her heart beat faster with the feelings of a schoolgirl crush as he flashed one of his sly smiles.
It was only then that she sensed the amount of tension radiating from the wolves inside the den. She tore her eyes away from Zy to take in the whole scene. There was Kasimira, furious at her unruly slave and probably irritable with exhaustion. Kyren wore a mask of calmness, but Calliope assumed he felt smug about finally being able to tell Zy about his new position. Tortuga, strangely enough, seemed amused by the whole thing. Then again, he had never truly met Zy before. And in the middle of it all stood Zy. Calliope couldn't even begin to imagine what he was thinking, though it was probably along the lines of "Oh, shit." Obviously, he wasn't thinking about her. Ooc- I can't help imagining her as a 13-year-old with a crush on Justin Beiber. xD

KASIMIRA "Well, well, could this perhaps be the infamous Zy?"
"The attention-seeking attitude and risque comments certainly give him away, don't they?"
Blue eyes flashing insolence, it took all of Kasimira's will power to make the fur on her neck lay flat, the flickering annoyance in her eyes beginning to cool down. She shut her eyes and returned to her squealing pups, their cries taking over her thoughts for the moment. This was all too much. There were too many wolves in her den at once and the anger inside was still simmering close to boiling point. The black she-wolf breathed deeply as she circled the ground, where her pups lay wailing, a few times. The small, pitiful strands of grass and bracken she had gathered the other night poked and prodded her sides--it had been a quick fix for a nest she hadn't the time or energy to make. Sighing, she carefully nudged the pups toward her stomach, the whines of hungry mouths silenced for the moment.
Zy. What to do with him. It was without saying that he needed a strict punishment. But what? The queen's mind was scrambled and grasping thin air for ideas that fluttered just out of her reach. Kasimira tried screwing her face up in thought as Zy told his tale of wandering lost lands, ignoring the brute's mindless mutterings. She didn't care what his reasoning had been. He had left and deliberately disobeyed her. That was reason enough to leave him for the crows for a day. Or three.
“Lady, your pups are beautiful, sure to be excellent leaders as their parents.”
Kyren's gruff voice pounded over the invisible turmoil, his tone patient, sincere. Another hint of pride rose steadily through the Alpha at his compliment just as Matrid's had done earlier. With a loving glance at her litter, Kasimira simply nodded, her eyes flicking a faint "thank-you" at her Beta. He was growing into a fine wolf, a leader she was proud to have appointed. Obviously his intentions were well-thought and executed; thankfully, the others, minus Zy, seemed to get along well in his company. Eperna willing, Kyren would find a mate equal to himself who was just as ready and willing to lead and contribute to the Irrsin pack as he was.
Kasimira blinked her cerulean eyes open in the dim lighting, the first traces of dawn just beginning to bring the glow of sun over the horizon. It was a new day. Eperna had finally let her face shine on the world, warm radiant rays stretched clean over the blades of grass. The sunlight cut into the den suddenly, a soft light in the tense atmosphere. Kasimira shot a glance at Tortuga, her facade filled with her exhausted rage. She didn't feel like making choices at the moment and--however unnatural her actions were--Kyren would make this choice. It was time for him to step up to the plate. With her old fire and dictating voice the ebony she-wolf spoke, her temperament even, yet firm.
"Kyren, I would like you to decide Zy's punishment."
The queen's gaze purposefully locked with the Beta's; he needed to keep his head and make a wise decision, regardless of his growing abhorrence for the cocky black male. If he made a judgment that was too harsh it would show his inability to forgive past actions and his unwillingness to work as a team for the good of the pack. Neither trait was one Kasimira intended her Beta to posses. With a level expression and a dip of her head, Kasimira allowed Kyren the floor to speak.
This should be interesting... Shooting Tortuga another look, this time with a hint of longing behind her cobalt eyes, Kasimira spoke quieter, her voice low as to not interrupt Kyren's thoughts or speech.
"How do you like Dresna and Marzell for Irrsin's heirs?"
Kasimira made the effort to smile half-heartedly at her mate but her tail wagged slowly, a small portrayal of the effort labor had taken on her. I've missed you, darling.

MATRID
* The dens were suddenly buzzing with activity, making Matrid feel almost dizzy. A few beats after Tortuga rushed in, Kyren followed, giving her a secretive smile that had her tail swaying happily. She quickly stilled it, but at that moment, nothing could have stilled her pounding heart. Just seeing her mate filled her with fierce pride, despite the fact that they had to hide their relationship, and despite the fact that she should have been considered dirt beneath his paws. He was Beta now, after all, and she was still Sklavin. Would always be Sklavin, it seemed. No. Remember what he told you. You won't always be like this.
Her dark mood successfully lightened by the thought, it only improved when Calliope followed. Instead of brushing past her as the males had, the fellow Sklavin trotted directly over to her, which set Matrid's tail wagging once more - and she didn't have to conceal it this time.
"You won't believe what happen up there. I'll tell you about it after--"
Calliope faltered suddenly, and Matrid shot her a concerned look before following her gaze to where Zy stood in the middle of the den. Ah. That explains it. Gently, Matrid nudged Calliope with her shoulder, a sign of both concern and support, if Calliope needed it. "I can't wait to hear about it." Matrid whispered, tone sincere. For a moment, she was struck with the desire to confess everything to Calliope, who was becoming a friend, and fast. Each and every secret was weighing Matrid down, and it would have been so very nice to talk to someone. But before she could truly begin to consider the idea, the commotion in the middle of the den drew her attention back to it. She remained huddled close to Calliope, but her eyes were on the four others present.
Zy was in the process of trying to explain himself, while attempting to plead with Tortuga, who seemed immensely amused by the whole situation. When Kyren spoke, Matrid found herself even more alert, ears pricked forward to catch every word. It was obvious that what had gone on between Kyren and Zy was still unsettled, and from Kyren's words, she could tell that the Beta male wasn't fond of Zy at all. She had a feeling that it was mutual. She felt nervous suddenly, and cramped inside of the den. The last thing she wanted was confrontation. The bulky female truly did hate it, and the air was growing slightly tense. Or perhaps she was imagining it.
"Kyren, I would like you to decide Zy's punishment."
Matrid felt her own eyes widen as she looked from Kasimira to Kyren. So much for no confrontation; this won't go over well. It was a test, it seemed, and Kyren's first 'assignment' as Beta. Matrid could only wonder if it would be a harsh punishment that Kyren assigned, or if he would let Zy off easy. The latter seemed extremely unlikely, with Kyren and Zy's dislike for each other, and the Sklavin found herself glancing at Calliope with an uneasy expression.

Tortuga
"The attention-seeking attitude and risque comments certainly give him away, don't they?"
A deep, rumbling laugh emitted from the muscled brute at his mate's words, his eyes flickering with mirth. It seemed as if nothing could bring him down, not now that he was back with Kasimira, and certainly not now that his pups had been born. He felt almost invincible in that moment, pride swelling within him as he glanced behind him at the squirming puppies, seemingly unable to keep his mind off of them for more than a few moments. He was a father, and although he didn't feel as different as he had once thought, he felt more...fierce. More protective.
He was snatched out of his thoughts by Zy, who was offering up excuses, asking Tortuga to 'vouch for him', and generally rambling on. Not that Tortuga minded. He was fond of wolves who had much to say, as the brute loved to listen. He didn't know this Zy character very well, and although he felt a slight hint of irritation at the stress that was being added onto Kasimira's shoulders, he wondered if perhaps he would come to like the Sklavin.
"Help a fellow man out here Mr...?"
Tortuga's ears pricked forward as Zy turned his eyes onto him, realizing for the first time that Zy had absolutely no idea who he was. He had not stuck around long enough to catch Tortuga's name, and Tortuga wondered just how much Zy had gathered from the scene unfolding. Certainly he had realized that he was the father of Kasimira's pups, and her mate, making him Alpha? Judging by his informal words, Tortuga was unsure. Then again, perhaps that was just the brute's personality. He did seem like a quirky fellow, this Zy.
“Lord, might fill in the spot better.”
Tortuga turned his attention to Kyren, watching the Beta curiously for a moment. He didn't seem particularly agitated or miffed over Zy's return, but there was the possibility that Kyren was concealing his feelings. "Thank you." Tortuga said, directing his words at the Beta, before he turned his head back towards Zy. "Tortuga's the name. Obviously, I'm already aware of who you are. You've made quite a name for yourself." The last bit was accompanied by a wink, before Tortuga's attention went to Kasimira. She was lowering herself onto the ground beside the pups now, who eagerly went to their mother's side. He felt a pang somewhere in the pit of his stomach, a little twist that informed the male that he already loved them very much. He would have had trouble admitting it to anyone else, as he'd never been one for mushy feelings or 'love'. But he couldn't conceal it from himself, even if he had wanted to. And he wasn't sure he did.
When Kasimira suddenly announced that Kyren would be deciding Zy's punishment, Tortuga found this oddly fitting. It would give them a chance to see how Kyren dealt with his newly appointed power, and how he treated Zy, even though they weren't getting along. He nodded his head once, satisfied, before Kasimira gazing at him drew his attention to her. He moved over to where she lay, lowering his large frame to the ground. He was near enough but not huddled against her, in case she needed space. There were quite a good number of wolves in the den, after all, and he knew that as a mother, she would be protective.
"How do you like Dresna and Marzell for Irrsin's heirs?"
Dresna and Marzell. They had rings to them, the names, seeming as powerful and noble at the pup's themselves. He gazed down at them, a small smile flitting over his maw.
"I think they're very fitting names." He said honestly, voice quiet as well, before cerulean eyes fell to the last pup. For a moment he was silent, his head dipping down to get a better view of the three little ones. His mind was working, mulling over names as he gently sniffed at the pups, taking care not to disturb them from their meal. Two females, and one male. So it was a female name that he was clutching for. He glanced up at Kasimira, his softened gaze finding her own.
"Adelina."

"Kyren, I would like you to decide Zy's punishment."
Kyren turned his head to Kasimira as she spoke, locking his one gold eye with hers. Silent words passed there, an expectation of his ability to make a wise decision and that she was paying attention to what he would say. A dip of his head in a slow polite nod to her words. “Of course.” The words were soft, not in arrogance of how he should get the spotlight, but understanding of one who was surely tired from just having pups, and likely wanted nothing more than to spend time with pups and mate. That thought made it hard not to turn his head to look back towards Matrid.
Kyren turned his head to focus his one-eyed gaze on Zy. He truly didn’t like this wolf. Unfortunately, personal feelings could not interfere. Just as he currently hid Matrid now being his mate, holding back from showing his emotions towards her, he must hold back his distaste of Zy. Punishment could be so much fun if he ignored that bit of logic. This cocky, selfish minded, wretched black bundle of fur was a member of the pack and for the moment it was a small pack with newborn pups that needed protection. Injuring Zy needlessly would limit even more the amount of useful wolves, and it would likely take many rounds of serious injuries before Zy would obey without thought due to fear. So, punishment yes, but in a more round-about path was required. “Zy..” The name was stated to call his attention, as was likely necessary with one of such a mind. A short seconds pause to make sure he got his attention. The tone was said with a neutral sounding air, letting no sign of personal feelings develop. If he showed his anger, it was likely Zy might do the same and then Kyren would have no choice to injure him. Too bad…that would be fun. “From your actions, what I see before me is a wolf that has no true understanding of what a pack is, and why it is important to us wolves.” A soft snort, “unless you do understand and simply are mocking your alphas and this pack. I am assuming it is ignorance for now, which while is disappointing, is still better than one who mocks this pack.” Kyren’s eyes narrowed and for a moment there was a very vicious tone to those last words. If Kyren ever learned he disobeyed, knowing how it harmed the pack and how disrespectful it was, the wolf would spend a long time wishing he had the ability to stand. “Zy, the alpha’s have just given birth to pups as you well know. We are a small pack, and now there are young lives to protect. This means we need every member of this pack to be at peak condition if at all possible to defend those lives. Your only punishment, this time, is that for the next three days you will be completely ignored by the members of the pack.” His voice rose slightly to make sure the other sklavins heard this, “They will not speak to you, of anything, or try to communicate with you in any other fashion. You are to stay near the den, within sight unless given orders to do otherwise. You will not eat for those three days as well." Not a fond situation for any wolf, but with Zy seeming to enjoy stirring things up it might just work even better than a physical injury. The wolf barely seemed to understand the notion of keeping his trap shut.
It was so much easier for Kyren to keep control of himself now that the other wolves at least acknowledged his status as a beta. Some of his respect that he was so use to had been restored to him. “Understand Zy. A pack is not a bunch of separate wolves that happen to live together. This pack is to work together, to keep their priorities on the well-being of the pack, not their own desires.” A tilt of his head considering another way to explain it. “The strength of the pack is determined by this. We do not simply boss you around for amusement, but for the well-being of us all. I have decided, as I’m sure the alpha’s have, that this pack will become great. We need your help to do this Zy.” Pain in the ass to say those words, but they fit well into what should be said. “You are being punished both for your disrespect, disobeying orders, and to help you learn how to become a better member of this pack. Do you understand?”
Kyren waited, his eyes staying locked on the sklavin, waiting for a response.

It was like staring down the barrel of a gun--a very irritated, hormonal, and relentless gun. This trigger-happy queen had no safety to flip off. Zy could practically hear the hammer being cocked back further after every word that slid deceptively smooth out of his mouth. He was digging his own grave, and the pokerfaced male knew it. Fear never crossed his mind, but the anticipation was killing him. Unlikely to receive assistance from the peanut gallery, his fate was sealed. How could it possibly get any worse?
“I see the runaway sklavin has finally thought to reappear.”
A disgusted grimace took over his pleading facade as those notes crashed through his head. Why here, why now? Kyren was like the plague, spreading pestilence and bothersome biting flies to Zy's fragile psyche. They say separation makes the heart grow fonder. Clearly it worked in the opposite direction for those who he never wanted to see again. His irritating way of talking, how he wedged himself to the sidelines between Zy and the alpha pair, the way he looked at him, all somehow accumulated into an almost instantaneous revival of the male's buried rage. Still, he managed to restrain himself from doing something too brash in that moment. "What's with the warm welcome? Your ego fall apart without me to stand on?" Sarcasm stung at his mirthless lips, dripping from every word, coating each in a barb like surface.
While channeling his inner violence toward daydreams involving Kyren falling into myriads of unfortunate events, the white alpha still in front of Zy addressed himself as Tortuga, speaking more to the rumors regarding the ashen slave. Tortuga, much to Zy's surprise, seemed to be enjoying this rather uncouth play unfurling in front of him. It was as if the newly appointed king seemed to find humor in the court jester's unbelievable insolence. The guy did have this air of superiority and egotism, like most males always do, but lacked the hard edge of a typical alpha. Maybe he was just what the doctor ordered for Kasimira's temper, or at least the jury that might throw poor ol' Zy a bone now and then. Today however, was not that day. Interference from the alpha male didn't look likely and he found himself back in the same rut, with the same walls closing in.
Clearly something had changed while he was away, as shown by the new appearances, as well as the changes in behavior. Calliope seemed to be more buddy-buddy with Matrid, his ears burning with the foresight of gossip to come. It was rather cute, and somehow relieved him that Calliope had found herself another canine companion aside from himself. He wouldn't want to have to keep track of a charge like her, or drag such an innocent girl into his pit of blackening deception. Aside from the new gal-pals, and the odd glances Matrid and Kyren shared, there was something else... amiss. Where the aforementioned male was standing, and how the alphas spoke to the male, created an unpleasant possibility in Zy's mind that was only verified when Kasimira spoke.
"Kyren, I would like you to decide Zy's punishment."
He wished she hadn't said that. It had to just be a one time thing, right? There's no way he... that it... no. How could he get this sort of footing in such a short amount of time? Amber orbs darted from black to copper in a look of bewilderment, as if asking 'No seriously, what am I really being charged with?' Zy's comfort zone was quickly shrinking as he realized what Kyren's promotion meant for his insignificant Sklavin life. Any question to that brute's ignorant commands would be seen as mutiny, and he would find himself charged with treason against the Crown. A hurricane of emotions swirled behind his still stagnant surface though, slowly, confusion and anger slipped through the nearly airtight seal, disrupting his outer stillness. However, this inner turbulence lacked an element of fear. Now was not the time to whimper away like a frightened pup. Fear equaled submission, and Zy would never submit to someone as undeserving as the newly appointed beta.
As Kyren began to speak, in the long winded, droning, lecturing manner Zy supposed all his statements were in, he could hardly resist spitting a retort for every word in his dull monologue. This guy really had no clue what went on in his mind nor how the ignorant wolf functioned, or rather, didn't. He started spouting some nonsense about "pack loyalty", "Respect", and "Responsibility". How survival was a "Group Effort". He wanted to just call BS and move onto more important matters, like where the hell he was going with all this gibberish. If this was Kyren's idea of punishment, Zy would repent. All is forgiven, I have sinned, please, just make the talking stop! Thou art truly thine own presiding testimonial 'gainst thine own err! (whatevenis) All immature shenanigans from Zy aside, the rambling beta seemed to finally get to the heart of his speech.
"Your only punishment, this time, is that for the next three days you will be completely ignored by the members of the pack. They will not speak to you, of anything, or try to communicate with you in any other fashion."
Zy could have collapsed laughing right then and there. As if the sappy "YAY TOGETHERNESS!" part wasn't humorous enough, this just iced the whole ridiculous cake. Couldn't the poor guy see the irony of his punishment as he blathered on, quickly losing the target audience member? Sure, not eating sounded like it sucked, but he'd been through much worse. A stifled giggle came through his clamped teeth, making a 'snrk' sounding snort, clearly wiping out any seriousness left on his now stupidly smiling snout. Really, the poor guy was making it far too easy. As Zy prepared to begin publicly burning unsuspecting Kyren, the male kept on talking past the most exciting part of his script yet. He talked more of this "Respect" thing, threw Zy's name in a couple of times, even tried to make him feel Connected and Important. God knows what madness was to be released after Kyren's magic spell was finished.
The words eventually stopped, though not soon enough to the impatient male. His toothy grin twisted into a mocking smirk, followed by a stifled torrent of snickering.
"Oh God. Wait--wait-- I need to catch my breath. Where'd you hear all that shit from, the prep school daddy sent you to so's you'd learn how to.. how'd you word it.. Man, for get it. Am I the only one who found the talking thing funny?"
Zy wasn't really asking anyone in particular, and it was more of a rhetoric question, but if anyone said anything, it'd make his day. His facade took on a slightly more stern look, but still had an overall air of mischievous disregard.
"In case you haven't noticed, I'm a slave. Now, I know you might be new to this whole thing, but ever think 'bout just maybe I didn't ask to be stuck in a pack? Maybe I don't give a damn about unity, functionality, whatever BS you were sayin' earlier." He looked at Kasimira briefly. "No offense to you M'Lady. Thanks for savin' me at the rock that while back. "
Zy wasn't saying the pack itself was horrible, no, he didn't dislike anyone except Kyren, and his mental stability thrived on the shreds of constant social role that slaves were placed. Rather, he was rebuking the arrogant male for believing that all wolves should want to work together. It irritated him that this guy could assume so much about how he thought and how he should live. It would be one thing if the pack was nothing more than an equal group, but it wasn't. More often than not, power was abused, and individuals were shoved into social ruts which escape from became impossible. It was an awkward balancing act that Zy hated to deal with, but was too afraid to escape entirely.
"If you want me to mesh, why shut up me up? How you expect me t' make friends that way Rusty?" His persona shifted to a slightly darker tone. "Or are you just afraid I'll say something to hurt your wittle new shiny Beta badge? Not that it means anything to me anyway." He smirked. " You're still as worthless as you were before."
And with that, Zy's counter-monologue had finished. He sat down with his tail curled across his paws, grinning smugly at Kyren. Poking and prodding, he was just waiting for him to snap. A beta that couldn't take even this minor prodding, what would Kasimira think? Obviously not a fitting candidate. He could ruin his promotion right now if Zy succeeded in pushing the other male past his tipping point.
'Your move, bitch.'
OOC;; Murrr. I'm ok with this. I blanked on what I was gonna have Zy say after... andhetalkstoomuchtoololol. |DD This post took way too long. -fail-

Calliope There was a pause in the conversation and Calliope noticed she was practically lying on the ground. With every snarled sentence and haughty retort, she had cowered lower. Conflict was something she normally avoided at all costs. If she were not so afraid of her mistress' temper, she would have taken refuge in her own den long ago. Suddenly feeling the burn in her legs, Calliope hoisted herself higher, grimacing as she flexed her sore muscles.
As the barks and growls came back in full force, Calliope found herself with no choice but to watch the scene play out. However, without a side to root for, she just found it tiring. Though she felt herself sympathizing with Zy, her brain could not present her with a good reason why. In fact, Calliope knew she owed allegiance to Kasimira and should condemn the sklavin. She could only hope that no one pulled her into this mess, where her split feelings would earn her no goodwill on either side.
"Kyren, I would like you to decide Zy's punishment."
Calliope could fell her heart smack against her ribcage. It was no secret that Kyren hated Zy. Whatever aloof front he might put up, he would enjoy tearing Zy down. Jumping to the worst conclusions, she began to think of all sorts of horrible punishments Zy might face. Surely Kyren would not have the power to order an execution? No, Kasimira would have killed him herself if she wanted him dead. But a beating, especially a public one, would not be unusual. Mutilation, even, would be within Kyren's rights as Beta. Kyren did nothing to ease her worry, instead dragging out the sentencing as long as possible to heighten her anxiety.
"Your only punishment, this time, is that for the next three days you will be completely ignored by the members of the pack. They will not speak to you, of anything, or try to communicate with you in any other fashion. You are to stay near the den, within sight unless given orders to do otherwise. You will not eat for those three days as well."
At first Calliope thought Zy was shaking in fear, but the sounds emanating from his maw were definitely laughter. He proceeded to mock Kyren to his face and seemed to go out of his way to be as condescending as possible. Calliope knew he would regret that by the end of the night and she guessed he would change his tune after the punishment started. Anyone could see that Zy thrived on attention. He fed on the shock and awe he created, and even on the hate he inspired. With his supply cut off, how long would his bravado and devil-may-care attitude last? Calliope thought of how empty his stomach would feel after three days without food and felt a stirring of pity for him. It seemed she had been pulled into this mess after all. To continue to acknowledge Zy would be a direct disregard for orders, and this time she wouldn't get off easy. But to let him starve, both physically and emotionally, would be the betrayal of a . . . friend.
Calliope looked at Matrid and found the she-wolf gazing at her with an equally troubled expression. Though she doubted, or rather hoped, that Matrid wasn't facing the exact same predicament as her, it seemed they were both worried that the problem would escalate.
