MEINIR
"Its the moment of truth and the moment to lie
And the moment to live and the moment to die"
And the moment to live and the moment to die"
this is me in the flesh,
NAME: Meinir
NICKNAME(S): Mein
PRONUNCIATION: may - neer {Means "slender and tall" from Welsh main "slender" and hir "tall, long"}
POSITION: free-roamer
taste the sky,
AGE: 6 years {lives up to 15 approx.}
GENDER: Female
BREED: Maned Wolf
HEIGHT: 34inches
APPEARANCE: Meinir is very average, for lack of better phrasing. She is not tall, short, fat or thin, she is just...average. There is nothing remarkable about her physical appearance what-so-ever. Her legs are long and thin, with some bulk around her shoulders and thighs. Dainty paws tread over the ground, with small black claws to tear at her prey. Her main body is rather angular, not smooth and sleek like other females. Her cornered shoulders and triangular muzzle give her an air of masculinity which is is not really proud of. Her mane is thick and quite bushy, even when she is not enraged. A slim tail and tall rounded ears finish off her look.
Her fur is the colour of burnt sandstone; a dark orange with small strands of white and lighter shades here and there. Her main body has long, bristly hairs, whilst her legs and face have shorter, smoother hairs. Meinir's legs are black up to her knee, much like socks, with small white hairs dotted around near her toes. Black also can be found at the end of her muzzle, down the sides of her ears, and over her trademark mane. Her tail, chin and parts of her underside are an off-white, more like a very light grey. Finally, her eyes are a burnt umber colour, which can go slightly red in bright sunlight.
thoughts that make me go insane,
PERSONALITY: Meinir, along with her 'average' appearance, has a rather 'average' personality. Or so it seems. Being raised in a vast land with varying amounts of contact from both parents means she has developed a distance towards social interaction and a dislike for company for extended periods of time. She tends to speak with a harsh, rusty undertone, but does not mean to be rude or harsh towards other wolves. Mein is also nocturnal, which is helpful in avoiding company. She very rarely ventures out during the daytime, but can be seen wandering around near dawn and dusk before settling to sleep. Her dark eyes are perfect for night-sight, so she can easily slip away if she detects company.
Despite this, she is known to be a caring soul, who will provide assistance to those who need it. She does have to be caught on a good day however, as she does have a quick temper. If something has gone wrong, then she is very snappy and moody, with her mane nearly always erect to show her annoyance. Most stay away from her when she is irate, lest they lose some of their fur. Mein does not apologize for being in a mood, she feels her reasons are justified, and she is allowed to be angry some of the time.
Mein had no maternal instincts what so ever. She would not be able to handle a litter, or even begin to understand how to deal with a pup. She prefers to be a loner, and despite straying into claimed territory, she knows to stay clear of the slave market, or lose her freedom. Part of her would like to claim some land for herself, a land for free wolves who would like a permenant place to keep themselves, but still have the ability to do their own thing.
all over my shoulder,
FATHER: Russet
MOTHER: Shyma
SIBLINGS: Cedar {male}, Mnene {female}, Pup 4 {died}
HISTORY: Russet and Shyma were very stereotypical Maned Wolves, if they had to be catagorized. They lived seperate lives, and only met to start a family. Their litter consisted of two females and two males, one who died stillborn and was never named. Meinir was technically the first born, but Cedar was always the leader of the sibling group. The pups were with their mother for as long as they had to be, then were bounced back and forth between parents, even left alone for long periods to fend for themselves. Mnene and Meinir were very close, Mein being protective over her shyer sister. Cedar went to get the food when their parents were roaming, and the pups formed their own family unit.
During their own wanders, Cedar strayed too far and was captured by a gang of bulky wolves who took him to the slave market, as he was very strong and opinionated. Mnene and Mein watched from the bushes, unable to help their brother due to their smaller, more fragile builds. From then on, the girls never saw their parents, guessing they had moved from their 'territory' to a new place. Mnene hardly ever left her sister's side, anf for five years they were always together.
After a while, Mnene started to get tired of the lack of company, and as they were close to a pack's border, asked if she could go and try to gain access and start a life there. Mein let her go, watching her until she safely made it over the border. She watched on as her sister was taken away by an arctic wolf into the lands, and then carried on with her own solitary life.
