Dawn had long since come and gone, its warmth stretching across the seaside in a sultry pink light. The sun, steadily rising towards its highest point, illuminated to the point that those emerging from the wooded fringe would have quite the time trying to see for the first few minutes. Once their vision cleared, however, they sight they would behold was well worth the minutes of blindness. Viktor stiffly emerged from the underbrush in such a manner, his head cocked up and tail raised in his finest display of dominance, his lower teeth shining matte in the mid-morning sun. Whom was he looking to usurp? Oh, nobody- he merely felt the need to fluff up as he departed from that hellhole known as Schreien Forest. It helped the sinking feeling in his gut that stemmed from being in such a place, and if anything, his ego needed a quick stroke. As he exited the shadows, Viktor stared around at the open beach, his entire body unwinding at the sight. "Finally." He croaked to himself. "That place needs to burn."
Without turning to glare at the place in question, Viktor turned his attention to reaching the sea. His paws sunk into the powdery sand, which meant that for Viktor to make it to the water's edge, he needed to accentuate his steps, the over-exaggerated strides enough to lift and pull him up and over the first of the dunes. A gentle wind caught him under the chin, its cooling effect refreshing the wanderer's weariness. When it seemed as if a lifetime had passed, he tumbled down the last of the dunes separating him from the water and broke into a lope, crashing into the waves with a yip of mirth. His mother had taken him here once or twice as an adolescent. To be here once again as a strapping adult, it gave Viktor a feeling of joy. He felt as if he could turn around and see his mother and aunts once more, alert and watchful over Biggest Sister's pups.
Laughing to himself, Viktor plunged into briny deep and paddled about, diving and exploring where he could. When at last his desire to swim was sated, he emerged from the salty sea and flopped back into the sand for a roll, coating himself in a thick layer of grit. He stopped, remained on his side, and sighed. Ah, the bachelor life.
