LET IT ALL RAIN DOWN
from the blood stained clouds. Come out, come out to the sea, my love and just drown with me, drown with me.
| - - P A L A I S - - I t was like this place survived outside of time. The rhythms, fluctuations in traffic displayed by the amount of earth that was present in the stagnant air, though the bodies themselves changed, the faces didn't. The captors, with their stoney facades, mirrored the very walls which funneled throngs of perspective owners and future sklavin, unchanged by the suffering around them. The unlucky souls whom the gods had evidently long abandoned were brushed around, husks of what they once were or could have been. They stood by, watching, waiting, vultures for any scrap of hope or light that may have sunk down to their level. She could see it in their eyes, the ravenous desire for someone to come along and tell them that time existed beyond the vacuum of this place. Unfortunately, Palais was not the savior for them today, for today was her day to be judged.
Black paws absorbed the contours of the clay soil, analyzing each imperfection, and placing each detail within her endless memory. She did the same with the appearance of the wolves guiding her up her rocky path. One was a maned wolf, like herself, only with the correct colors in the right places. She always had an odd fascination with how members of her own breed should look, considering she looked so vastly different. The other was some conglomerate of hair and bulk who looked more akin to an oversized dust-mop than an actual canine, but who was she to judge.
Just as Palais was peering out at the world, it was doing the same to her. A giant off-white maned wolf was hardly common place, even in the context of the auction rock. She could feel their eyes burning against her pale fur, something that she had become immune to over time. The dominors were obviously sizing up her worth, where as the sklavin were merely searching for something outside the suffocating sphere of repetition. As she walked forward she climbed up, reaching the pinnacle of her auction rock journey. There she stood above the crowd, for all to see. Light filtered through the dust and low hanging clouds above to illuminate around the group before it quickly dispersed. The maned wolf in front of her spoke up, addressing any perspective new masters.
"Next up we have a real treat for you, today only, A rare sooth-sayer, blessed by the supposed gods of these lands. If you want proof, just look at her pelt-- a white maned, possibly one of a kind. . ."
The male continued his sale-pitch, making Palais seem more valuable than she might actually be. Her expression was composed and unamused, as this wasn't her first journey to the rock, and she never stayed there long. Her appearance and rumors that clung to her expedited her stay and made her a wanted sklavin to any dominor. She was rarely mistreated once masters learned she had worth beyond just a visual symbol and pretty face, though some of the brutes who had owned her had been abrasive. Some even lashed out when her advise or "foresight" wasn't just how they wanted it. Still, she never let these mortal hindrances impact her. No matter what was to come, she would face it with the same analytical precision as she would any other.

Text | Speech | Thought
The air was thick with the smell of blood. Iron and salt danced on the breeze, landing daintily on Decimus’ tongue as he lapped at the air, relishing the taste. It was a very old and dear friend to him, beckoning him forward, awakening his deepest and most primal desires. His large body practically thrummed with anticipation as each step took him deeper and deeper into the dusty pit of sinners and abominations. They parted like the sea as he passed them, trembling slaves and smaller dominors alike. Some stood to gaze at him proudly, perhaps believing that they were braver for it, and yet he did not spare them even a single glance. He was on a mission today. Ever since he’d claimed the small territory of Suden, Decimus had known that he needed followers. It was whispers of Auktion Rock that had reached his auds at least, and he’d wasted no time as his paws had itched with restless longing. It was the will of the Gods, he told himself as he walked. They would guide him in his decision.
He took his place among the gathered masters, standing behind them instead of ahead so that his size was more greatly emphasized. Surrounding him was the sound of slaves pleading for a multitude of things – food, water, mercy. Ah, yes, Decimus could hear it now. They were pathetic in their attempts, whining at the paws of their dominors, new and old alike. Retribution is your mercy, he thought with a soft snarl, turning his attention to the parade of sklavins being auctioned off before him. They were sad excuses for stock, each and every one of them. Time after time he watched them as they were recycled to the back of the line or claimed by a particularly desperate dominor. As the time wore on, Decimus’ patience began to wear thin. Had he been wrong in coming here? He’d been so certain…
"Next up we have a real treat for you, today only, A rare sooth-sayer, blessed by the supposed gods of these lands. If you want proof, just look at her pelt-- a white maned, possibly one of a kind. . ."
Quicker than he might have believed possible, his gray eyes slid to the rock. He’d been so occupied by a gruesome display of dominance off to the left that he’d almost missed her, but there she stood, pale and lovely atop the rock. Truly she was a mystery, her pelt so unlike the typical ruddy red of her kind, and a sooth-sayer at that. She was unique, she was…she was perfect. He felt it in the pit of his stomach as he stepped forward, shoving aside two dominors who looked keen on claiming her. A third snapped his jaws at Decimus, who in turn mustered a growl from deep within his chest, showing off ivory teeth twice the size of the challenging brutes. After a brief moment the dominor backed away, and Decimus proceeded to step away from the gathered crowd.
”She is mine.” His tone left no room for debate as he turned to move away from the rock, turning to call over his shoulder at the last moment, his eyes locked on the cream-colored female. ”Come to me.” He did not wait to see if she would behave; surely she would, if she knew what was best for her. He simply strode until he was a significant distance from the others, waited the span of several heartbeats until he knew she would have had adequate time to catch up, and asked without looking behind him, ”What is your name?”

[attr="class","GGcontainer2temp4a"] [attr="class","GGcontenttemp4a"] [attr="class","GGlettertemp4a"] F rom atop the world she glanced at the cascading mass below. Curiously, she observed the gathered canids as they carved out their situational pecking order. This sort of impromptu balancing of hierarchy was strangely beautiful to the pale wolf. There were patterns everywhere hidden deeply within the clockwork of posturing and snarling which composed the final functioning societal machine that was the Auktion Rock. Each canine had its own place to find, and, at a cursory glance, their own personal methods to do so. However, Palais, with her analytical prowess, greatly enjoyed picking apart individual behavioral quirks throughout each interaction and finding commonalities between them. [break][break] First she focused on a pair of squabbling dominors, both convinced they were the ones to claim her ownership. Both were approximately the same size and mass, and both clearly lacking in the brains department. They went back and forth, attempting to impress the other and prove that they were the one best suited through supposedly great accomplishments consisting of gems such as how many females they had personally bred with, and how much of a deer they could eat individually. After a few examples to each other Palais quickly picked up on just when the other was lying to the first. One had an odd twitch of the ear slightly before he fibbed, the other pawed the ground particularly strongly. This went on for a few solid minutes, both eventually conjuring up stories so tall that even a sack of bricks would be able to call their bullshit. [break][break] As if on cue, a slightly larger male sauntered up full of cocksureness and displayed the other twos’ idiocy to the crowd. Full of humiliation, they recanted with anger, but were once again swiftly silenced by the newcomer’s confidence. Palais was about to mentally congratulate his quip, before she noticed how genuinely nervous the male was. As a bear of a wolf sauntered up, she understood the source of his anxiety. He was huge, dwarfing the three by at least a good 8 inches, possibly more, and commanded his presence well with a powerful stride. The third snapped at the dark giant in an attempt to display determination, but he reacted with a crowd silencing snarl which robbed the other of all his remaining confidence. “She is mine”, his voice echoed. In that single act he had placed himself at the pinnacle of command. Palais had to admit, his efficiency did slightly impress her, which was a fairly difficult thing to do.[break][break] His steely eyes locked with her own as the brute commanded her to follow. Her curiosity peaked, and self-preservation telling her it was the obvious thing to do, she gracefully dismounted her pedestal with one swift motion, dust swirling from the impact of her slender paws. Knowing no sane wolf would dare try anything knowing the beast that claimed her, Palais strode over to her new master unhindered by others. She shortly arrived and stopped a few paces behind the male, noting his stature was even greater than she had first assumed. He did not give her much time to ponder, as he asked her name. “Palais, your grace.” She plainly responded. Speech based expectations, such as exalting titles, seemed oddly pointless to her, but found they aided greatly to smooth communication, so she mentally resolved herself to pick up on as many as possible. She knew phrasing was everything, and carefully chose each word before she spoke. “I will gladly answer any further questions without knowing, however, if it is acceptable, I would be humbled by knowing how to properly address my new master, before continuing.” She had found questions to be risky, but her desire to know always got the better of her.[break] [attr="class","GGnotestemp4a"] Lemmy know if table is too bright. :I Or font too small. <3 [attr="class","GGtitletemp4a"] FROM THE BLOODSTAINED CLOUDS [attr="class","trinCredits"]TABLE BY TRINITY @ ADOXOGRAPHY [newclass=".GGtabletemp4a"]width:480px;margin:0px auto;position:relative;[/newclass] [newclass=".GGtabletemp4a table td"]padding:0px;vertical-align:top;[/newclass] [newclass=".GGtabletemp4a img"]width:480px;margin-bottom:-4px;[/newclass] [newclass=".GGtitletemp4a"]text-align:center;background-color:#D2E6A7;line-height:10px;font-size:20px;padding:25px;letter-spacing:4px;text-transform:uppercase;font-family:arial narrow;color:#fff;font-size:11px;[/newclass] [newclass=".GGcontainer1temp4a"]background-color:#D5BF98;padding:25px;[/newclass] [newclass=".GGcontainer2temp4a"]background-color:#F2EC94;[/newclass] [newclass=".GGcontenttemp4a"]background-color:#FCFBC5;text-align:justify;padding:8px;font-size:11px;font-family:arial;color:#C2AC89;margin-top:25px;[/newclass] [newclass=".GGlettertemp4a"]font-style:none;font-family:georgia;float:left;color:#C2AC89;font-size:15px;text-transform:uppercase;background-color:#D2E6A7;padding:20px;margin-right:5px;[/newclass] [newclass=".GGboxestemp4a div"]color:#D5BF98;font-size:12px;font-family:georgia;font-style:italic;text-transform:uppercase;[/newclass] [newclass=".GGbox1temp4a"]padding:8px;margin-right:8px;background-color:#FFFFBB;text-align:center;text-transform:uppercase;[/newclass] [newclass=".GGbox2temp4a"]padding:8px;margin-right:8px;background-color:#FFFFBB;[/newclass] [newclass=".GGbox3temp4a"]padding:8px;background-color:#FFFFBB;[/newclass] [newclass=".GGnotestemp4a"]padding:8px;font-size:12px;background-color:#FFFFBB;color:#D5BF98;font-family:georgia;font-style:italic;text-transform:uppercase;margin-top:25px;text-align:justify;[/newclass] [newclass=".trinCredits"]font-family:arial narrow;font-size:10px;font-style:italic;letter-spacing:1px;text-align:center;[/newclass]

TEXT | SPEECH | THOUGHT
“Palais, your grace.”
Her voice was clear and pleasing, something that Decimus couldn’t be more grateful for. He would not have been able to stand her if she were shrill or rasping, and yet she was neither. He marveled at his luck in coming here today, his spirits greatly restored. Surely it had been the work of the Gods if he’d found one of their delicate creations upon his first visit. A grim smile touched his muzzle for the briefest moment, more unnerving than uplifting before it faded from sight.
”I will gladly answer any further questions without knowing, however, if it is acceptable, I would be humbled by knowing how to properly address my new master, before continuing.”
Finally Decimus turned to gaze at her, pausing in puzzlement at what he saw. One of them was the brightest of green, like the freshest leaves upon the trees come spring time, and the other a deep brown in color. While her pelt alone had originally caught his attention, along with her description, she’d been too far away for him to see her eyes. It was a pleasant addition to the slender femme who stood before him, and as his pale gray eyes raked across her form, he gave a slight nod of appreciation.
”My name is Decimus, but ’Your Grace’ will be fine,” he said after a moment. He did not particularly care what she called him, as long as it was respectful and accepting of his position. He was relieved to find that she was not obstinate or rebellious, for blessed or not, he would not deal with insubordination. But time after time the Gods smiled upon him, and he found that it was very hard to restrain himself from gazing at Palais for too long.
”I am the alpha of Suden, and it is there that you will call home,” he murmured as he began to move. He gestured with a jerk of his head for her to follow, making no move to alter his long strides for her. She was quite the leggy creature, so he assumed that she would keep up with him better than others. ”Truly, you are blessed. The Gods have delivered you into my paws where they know you will be coveted, and your gifts will not go to waste so long as you are mine.”
He gazed at her out of the corner of his eye, seriousness coloring his tone. ”Fortunate as you may be, I will not tolerate disrespect, nor disobedience. However, should you behave appropriately – and I believe that you will -, you will always be considered of utmost importance above all other sklavins I claim. You,” he said with a gruff fondness to his voice that was not entirely stable, ”will be favored. Now tell me, little sooth-sayer, are your gifts as impressive as they seem? ”

[attr="class","GGcontainer2temp4a"] [attr="class","GGcontenttemp4a"] [attr="class","GGlettertemp4a"] H er new master looked befuddled as he turned to face her for the first time. She briefly pondered the cause, before realizing that prior to this moment he had been too far away to notice her eye coloration. Palais was not vain in the slightest, but had to admit that her dual colored orbs were a personally favored characteristic. Others seemed to always love the contrasting green and brown hues as well, so she figured there was no harm in appreciating what she was given. She smiled wryly as he appraised her with a nod of approval, although his façade unnerved her for some reason. [break][break] ”My name is Decimus, but ’Your Grace’ will be fine, ”I am the alpha of Suden, and it is there that you will call home,”[break][break] "Decimus, prefix for ten… masculine." She mused to herself, remembering the odd linguistic methods a previous dominor of hers had. After glancing over Decimus’ form for a short moment, she felt the name was fitting, considering he looked as if he was worth about ten wolves in terms of size, and presence. She was glad he seemed placated by honorifics and was not against answering any questions at all, unlike some dominors who would not even give the time of day to a slave. He even told her where they were going, although the name didn’t ring much of a bell. She assumed it must be one of the newer territories that were popping up on and off in the shifting borders of Ravensbruck, and was eager to learn more of its geographic location. As her master motioned for them to be off she trotted along beside his massive frame, close enough to be seen from his peripherals, but not even enough to be seen as taking charge. [break][break] With destination and introductions through, the dark brute began listing his expectations, watching Palais from the corners of his silver eyes. Of course discipline and respect were mandatory, that much the pale female expected. She wasn’t much of a fighter to begin with, so the thought of crossing any wolf, let alone this monster, was something she tried to avoid. She nodded silently, showing her acceptance to his terms before the male continued.[break][break] However,… you will always be considered of utmost importance above all other sklavins I claim. You, will be favored.” [break][break] She felt the fur on the back of her neck stand up slightly from the tone Decimus added to the end of his message. It was as if it triggered some sort of instinctual alarms in the fem to warn her that something just wasn’t right. Palais agreed with her gut, but didn’t let her brief discomfort show. She was thankful for the favoritism, even if it came with some creepy undertones. “I’m flattered, your grace. I will try my best to prove worthy of your honor.” She bowed slightly as she walked, finishing the ritual of gratitude. [break][break] Now tell me, little sooth-sayer, are your gifts as impressive as they seem? ” [break][break] All of her masters always asked the same question, and each time Palais had to decide just how to answer. It was true she had intuition worthy of being called a fortune-teller, and did have some glimpses of scrying in occasional dreams, but being able to predict exactly what was going to happen at exactly one moment in time wasn’t something she could do. Too much emphasis on her shortcomings and she would be cast down to nothing more than a physical oddity to gawk and play with. However, claiming to live up to the rumors that hung around her could end just as badly. Steeling herself, she stepped into the minefield ahead. “That all depends on perspective doesn’t it now, your grace.” She teased gently, “If I were completely omniscient, would I have allowed myself to be enslaved?” A mischievous and knowing smile crossed her black tipped maw. “I am gifted,” she paused, “but I am only mortal.” Hopefully that answer would be acceptable.
