Tortuga
The moon was a sliver of pale white in the night sky, surrounded by twinkling stars. Little light was cast upon the earth as Tortuga made his way across Irrsin, ivory pelt nearly blending in with the snow beneath his large paws. As he walked, prints appeared in his wake, a telltale sign of his departure…but it was late, and his pack slumbered peacefully in the warm dens. Again he had been woken from his slumber, but this time his nightmare had been more of a dream. He had been so sure that it had been real, the feel of the silvery vixen’s fur beneath his chest, the purr of her sultry voice in his ears. He could remember the night he’d spent with her vividly, despite the shame that had followed. And then, unexpectedly, the silver pelt had lightened to stark white, the pale blue eyes to golden as a soft word slipped from her muzzle…and he’d woken with a start. It should have been Kasimira he dreamt of, he knew, and yet he could not control it. Woken by desires and a primal need, he’d slipped from the dens. Normally he would have woken his slumbering mate with a nudge as he settled over her, a devious smirk on his lips, but their relationship had been strained and he did not dare take her. Not when there was a possibility that she would reject him. Unable to sleep due to the desires that racked him, Tortuga moved towards a familiar place: the most distant border that lead to the forest, passed the stream and in the shelter of the few trees that flecked Irrsin. There was a particularly beautiful willow tree that stretched over the frozen water, and it was there that Tortuga aimed for, his defined muscles rippling beneath his vivid pelt as he approached the stream. He’d slipped as quietly as possible from the dens, careful not to jostle Kasimira as he’d went. More and more lately he’d felt the divide between them widening, stretching too far for him to reach across. It was a bitter thought that assaulted him at various times, battering his confidence and ripping apart his dreams. No matter how hard he tried to be positive during the day, he could not restrain himself at night. Fueled by his sorrow and need, he bounded across the icy stream in one leap, landing heavily on the other side. He dipped beneath the gnarled branches of the bare willow, who had only a scant amount of dry leaves clinging to its branches. There he sat, his back against the harsh wood as he stared at the vast expanse of meadow. A roiling hill separated him from his view of the dens in the far distance, and all the better for it. He did not want to think about Kasimira, or Dresna, or Marzell or Adelina. He wanted to think of nothing, and because of this it was his physical feelings that fueled him, caused primarily by his frustrations. Growling softly to himself, he turned his deep blue eyes on the reflections cast across the ice of the stream. He would stay here, then, until the cold cooled the fire that raged through, until it was safe to return to the den without being tempted to wake Kasimira, or…or Adali. Snarling softly, he laid down, resting his head on his large paws. He would wait as long as he had to.

ADALI
The night felt heavy; too dense and clogged in her lungs despite the crisp air that chilled her with each breath. With every intake she could not help the shivers and every exhale warmed when that coldness momentarily left her. The winter in Irrsin was gradually turning as white and desolate as her stark coat and inner turmoil, mocking her with each step around the invisible wall that caged her here. She'd breached that barrier once, fleeing even, and yet had allowed its keeper to drag her back with near nonexistent protest only the day before. Adali was just as she should have been: a sklavin. With a heavy sigh misting the space around her, the she-wolf peers half-lidded about the surroundings. Even her eyes felt frozen if she opened them too far. The bleakness of it all had seemed so sudden, too. She had been gone no more than a week and in that time she had come back to a land of pristine snow, crystals of ice sparkling under the dim moonlight like a trillion tiny stars. She blinks back at them, huffing slightly to get a take on what was around her. Everything was as still as if time itself had frozen and the only way she was sure such a silly notion wasn't true was familiar scent caught on the breeze. It shouldn't have drawn her notice, as it was a blanket over the entire Irrsin lands, yet so fresh was it that it could not be ignored. Why couldn't it be ignored? On the move again, Adali treks gradually through the snow. The fading temperature had frozen much of the top layers to the point it was easy to glide over without sinking too far. Still, the trail left in much of the the male's wake was not easily missed and she falls in line with the path. Towards the stream, near the borders. The willow that grew in size as she neared had developed into a familiar sight, and so had its company sitting beneath the barren bows. Tortuga lay braced against the rough bark at the base and though the discovery of him should have sent her belly straight to the crystalline snow, it was easy to remain standing. She halts, auds sinking back a margin to show immediate submission that was not as drastic as it once had been, tail limp behind her and not braced fearfully between her legs. Despite what he was, she could not bring herself to be afraid of him. It seemed a distant memory that she'd trailed in his wake back from Auktion Rock in distress, replaced by the sleepless nights they'd found each other here. He'd never lain a paw or tooth on her and the weight of the world seemed less daunting even now. For a prolonged moment the she-wolf stands there on the opposite bank, unsure if she should disturb him. Blue eyes locked on her frame informed her that her presence had been discovered yet she still plays with the idea of leaving him be. But there's a certain tension palpable in the air, as heavy as the night yet not frightening like her nightmares. Something keeps her from slinking away, calling to her like a thousand sirens, beckoning her over the stream. She leaps the expanse and stumbles lightly in her landing. Regaining herself quickly, she sits several feet from the brute. Adali wasn't at all sure why she had not grasped the opportunity to leave him alone. He was a bundle of nerves and electricity, zapping the air all around them and lighting some strange yet familiar warmth under her fur. She was not oblivious to what it was, but she chose to ignore its implications as she had so many other things. Chancing a sidelong glance at the brute, she whispers, "do you need anything?" Whether it was a simple and unassuming question she had asked her dominors a thousand times, or something far more taboo, Adali didn't dwell on it. Willful ignorance seemed to be her one exceptional talent.

Tortuga For a very long time, Tortuga lay still, battling the emotions that licked at his pelt like flames. An owl had landed in the tree far above his head, calling softly, but he did not stir, and eventually the magnificent creature took flight. He watched it wheel over Irrsin, wings spread wide as it searched for a hint of prey, admiration sparkling in his eyes. What he would give to sprout wings large enough to carry him, over all of Ravensbruck if he willed it! It was a silly thought to be sure, and yet a pleasant one. But then again, if he could fly then surely his worries and troubles would sink him like a stone. He felt heavy with them, as if they were a tangible thing that he had eaten, that festered in his belly like great boulders. He did not see her until she was upon the stream, so greatly was her pelt camouflaged by the snow. No longer did he mistake her for his daughter; the light of her luminous golden eyes pierced him like an arrow despite the distance between them. He did not lift his head from his paws but laid still, blue eyes locked on her figure as she stood wavering, the flickering of her ears the only sign of her submission. Somewhere deep within him, fear stirred, as if he knew where this encounter was heading. A part of him hoped that she would turn and leave, for her own sake, and yet the horrid monster that was named desire no longer slumbered, and the creature was hungry. Tortuga had never been a brute who could not control himself, but now, with Kasimira’s coolness and the mistakes he had already made, the lines he’d already crossed…now he was slipping. In one bound Adali crossed the stream, landing a bit shakily before drawing nearing and sitting before him like a lamb offering itself for slaughter. Still he did not move save for his eyes, which followed her every waking movement, lingering too long on the delicate tips of her shoulder blades and the slender hips. And then she spoke, breaking the silence as snow swirled around the two, finding them even where they rested beneath the gnarled branches. His head jerked up as her voice caressed his ears, his chest expanding as he sucked in a hard breath. It was almost as if she’d been delivered to him straight out of a dream, as if the Gods themselves had heard his desires and handed her to him. But this wasn’t what he wanted. It was, and it wasn’t. He felt the energy between them as if it rattled his very bones, and yet he did not want to hurt her. He was supposed to protect her, to give her sanctuary when she had no other.Driven by his thoughts he stood, making no move to shake the gathered snow from his pelt as he moved towards her. He had every intention of passing her, of leaping over the stream and not looking back. It would wound her, but he would seek her again when he was not so weak, when he would not risk doing something stupid. And he might have succeeded had he not glanced at her as he neared, if he had not seen those wonderful eyes more closely. The wind stirred then, blowing her scent towards him, and he stopped inches away from her. He was frozen as a war waged in his mind, and his resolve was unraveling very quickly until there was nothing left but the wind howling in his ears and the aching in his bones.”Yes,” he said hoarsely, the wind carrying his voice away, but he was close enough so that he did not need to repeat himself. He stepped even closer, circling around behind her and come to stand by her side, his pelt pressed against hers as he stared down at her. He was a good few inches taller than her, his bulky body leaning just slightly against her slender one – not enough for her to have to support his weight, and yet enough so that she might feel the way his muscles tensed and rippled beneath his pelt. ”You,” he murmured quietly, finally elaborating on his previous response as he gently nudged her with his ebony nose. The longing was clear in his blue eyes, but he made no move yet. He would not force her, and if she showed any signs of fear or reluctance, he would force himself to leave no matter how badly he did not want to. NOTES: asdfghjklWORDS: 770TAG: Ὀδύσσεια♐

ADALI NOTES: Uhm... just yeah. | TAG: ⋆Ravɛn
The sudden jerk of his head seemed to lift and expand him before her and Adali's eyes widened a fraction at the movement. His intention seemed to be to pass her, leave her there under the bows of the willow and in the cold and loneliness. And despite the sting of indifference it would inflict she wouldn't have blamed Tortuga. They had spent many nights simply conversing under the starlight, yet Adali couldn't imagine her company left anything to be desired. He didn't have an obligation to appease her and her invasion of his solitude. He could do whatever he wanted and she would watch him go. And yet he halted, those bright blue eyes penetrating the space between them and the female felt her breath catch in her throat. His proximity was palpable, the heat and desire radiating off his body so intensely that despite the chill Adali could feel it. "Yes." The voice is rough, caressing her ears in a pleasant manner that has them raising from their sunken state. She watches him closely as their eyes locked without any inclination to turn away. If she had the strength of mind right then Adali might have marveled at how easily he held her there. But a steady process of thought could not be relied on as very suddenly her mind felt fogged, giving way to the warmth beneath her fur and that primal instinct to accept this closeness. The brute circles her, large frame looming over and around her own in a methodical move. Her gaze follows over her shoulder and then the other until he pauses on the other side. Adali's breath has somehow returned to her and in the proximity she breaths deep his scent. It's heady, distinctly masculine and sends fireworks through every vein of her own body. That same primal instinct tells her that she should accept him and even if her better judgement were present it would have told her no different. Raised in the confines that resembled something of a harem, with a dominor that took from his females as he pleased, Adali had no doubt lingering in the fog that was her mind. Relations between dominor and sklavin were common, widespread. Normal. Her previous master had never touched her, his attentions drawn expertly away by her mother and sibling. Maddox had yet to take her either and she had even been spooked by Kasimira's accusations. Yet the guard at the Rock... if she'd not buried it in some deep and forbidden place she might have been able to recall the lingering, filthy touches of the one male that had succeeded. But that memory was long since buried, coated in dust in a far corner of the mind like so many others. And for all her other fears and bracing her shoulders to the world as if it were all against her, she was not scared of Tortuga's attention. Surprised if she allowed herself to be, maybe, yet not afraid. He could have asked anything of her in that moment and she wouldn't have denied him. "You." Adali didn't have the conscious thought or consideration to be startled by the idea that Tortuga had any want of her. He was her master now and she his sklavin, and she was nothing if not committed to the task and completely at his mercy. Just as she showered Kasimira in gifts of food at the slightest request, she would do anything for Tortuga. She pressed against him, perhaps some part beyond her role hungry for his attention and affection. His acceptance, because it's all she'd ever wanted from her dominors. "You can have me," she breaths, though she did not think he needed her to say this; he could have anything he wanted. She raises from where she sits and presses her hip against his side, feeling completely consumed by fire.

Tortuga "You can have me.”Her melodic voice and the suggestive nudge of her hips broke Tortuga’s resolve. It was almost as if he could visibly hear it, a shattering in his ears that drove him forward. He paused long enough to gaze at her, searching for any source of hesitation in her eyes, but there was none. He stretched his neck, licking her cheek softly, and then he turned and circled behind her. As much as he wanted to rush, fueled more than ever by his need, he lowered himself over her carefully. He would be as gentle with her as the situation would allow, and he was filled with emotions, triumph and longing and something distinctly primal, and before he claimed her he rested his head on her delicate shoulders, bringing his muzzle close to her ear to whisper, ”You’re beautiful.”All else was lost in the howling of the wind.* Afterwards, as the wind died down and the snow fell more lightly, he laid down once more beneath the willow tree. He was calmer now, the furious energy in his body replaced by complacency. He lifted his blue eyes towards the sky, gauging the position of the moon. There were still hours left until daylight, and until he would have to slink back into Kasimira’s den like a whipped dog. Oddly he did not feel immediate guilt as he had with Chalandra; perhaps it was because he cared for her when Chalandra had been a fluke, a moment of weakness. And wasn’t it weakness this time? He thought, but he found that he could not answer himself. He would not dare taint this moment anyways, not when everything was so pure and serene. His breath puffed out in front of him as he lowered his muzzle, fixing his eyes on Adali as a slow smile spread across his muzzle. He would not brood and risk making her look down upon herself, so he swiped a large snow across the space beside him.”Come here,” he said softly, gesturing with his nose to his own side. It was cold, and while his thick pelt and bulk as well as the warmth still burning through his muscles kept him comfortable, Adali was smaller than him and he did not want her to suffer. Secretly he was concerned of what she might be thinking; he didn’t want her to regret what they’d done, and although he wasn’t entirely sure he wouldn’t feel remorse the next morning, that didn’t mean that he wanted her suffering for it. It had been he who had asked it of her, after all, and Tortuga would allow her to take no responsibility for what he had done. Fleetingly he thought of Kasimira, and then Adali’s brute – Maddox, but he quickly shied away from both. Thoughts of Kasimira would confuse him, and thoughts of Maddox would irritate. ”I meant what I said earlier, you know,” he said, suddenly feeling the need to clarify that it hadn’t been meaningless lovespeak. ”About you being beautiful. You’re really something, Adali.” And he meant it. It wasn’t as if he were intending to steal her away, or to break ties with Kasimira for her. It would be foolish, he knew, when she was a sklavin and he a dominor, not to mention the extreme attachments they both felt for others. Regardless, Tortuga felt that he would always think fondly of Adali and the night he’d spent with her, no matter the cause. NOTES: <3WORDS: 582TAG: Ὀδύσσεια♐

ADALI NOTES: Feeeeels. | TAG: ⋆Ravɛn
Tortuga draped across her back did not feel wrong. Perhaps some inkling of guilt or the spark of realization should have hit her the moment his weight settled atop her, yet neither came. This was merely part of her duty as a sklavin and there was nothing to lead the she-wolf to believe that it wasn't custom in every pack as it had been in her previous. ”You’re beautiful.” It felt right even as she assumed nothing of his words in the moment. They settled in her skull but remained untested, stored later for when she could think through this exhilarating fog that had her so willing and almost as desperate as him. ✦✦✦ When he pulled away some time later the wind and snow had diminished greatly. It was still cold, icy, breezy, and yet Adali found that she felt far warmer than she had before. There was a pleasant numbness in her legs that had nothing to do with the chill. She simply observed Tortuga in their prolonged moment of silence afterwords and when that slow, charming smile spread across his maw she was sure the skin beneath her fur flushed even further. She does not hesitate when he tells her to come to him. She lays beside, body pressed aside his, and immediately curves her head under his own and against his chest. Despite her obliviousness towards what might be considered normal, she knew she should not feel this blooming attachment to her dominor. She had known this for some time, even, and yet it was as strong this night as any other. And as much as she should have, she never battled it. Her ears shifted when his voice rumbled pleasantly. She does not pull away though takes a moment to consider what was said. ”You’re beautiful.” It repeats in her mind from earlier, clicking with his recent words. Her heart is still thundering from their previous exploit and suddenly Adali can feel it flutter in her chest. Perhaps she should not have been so taken by this and it was not every brute who could compliment her and make her feel so light. Maddox had a special way of lifting her up and flattering her. Yet something about Tortuga saying it seemed profound and it did not take her any time to conclude why. Since the day she had arrived in Irrsin so many months ago, Adali had longed to be considered as stunning as Kasimira, as confident as Kasimira, as worthy as Kasimira. To hear these words from that she-wolf's own mate had a strange effect. She had wanted nothing more than to be accepted by her alphas. For Tortuga to think highly of her in any way, to have him want her and take her so boldy was strangely empowering. Shifting to press herself closer, squeezing her eyes tight, Adali breathes heavily in his scent again. "Thank you," she says against his fur. And it wasn't just for the compliment, but for how he had treated her since the day he had claimed her from Auktion Rock. Despite her position at the very bottom of the ranks, she felt lucky. Lately there was still that hint of desire to flee that Maddox had instilled, as she already tried once, yet she was not oblivious to her good fortune. Nothing was simple or easy and soon she would have to face Kasimira for running off, but she had come from far worse. "Perhaps I am a slave," she whispers, "but even as one I am grateful you are my dominor."

Tortuga For the first time in what felt like forever, Tortuga was at ease. Although the fire had ravaged Irrsin many months ago, it had left a trail of death and destruction in its wake. It had taken friends, taken family even, and partially unraveled what he’d had with Kasimira. It had seemed like a lifetime since he’d been able to fully relax without his troubles weighing heavy on his mind, but as Adali settled against his side beneath the willow tree, he was at peace. There was no blame or accusation in her eyes, only a gentle acceptance that made him smile. When her eyes fluttered closed upon hearing his compliment, a soft chuckle escaped from his muzzle. He’d never met a she-wolf quite like Adali before."Perhaps I am a slave, but even as one I am grateful you are my dominor." Her words startled him; he lifted his head a fraction of an inch to peer down at her with one vivid blue eye, before settling back and tucking his head over hers once more. He was surprised, in a way, that she did not resent him for bringing her here, where she would never be able to earn Kasimira’s favor. At the same time, Tortuga had never seen Adali hate anyone, or even treat a soul unkindly. Eperna, he thought to himself, you have given us one of the purest souls you’ve ever created. Pray help me keep her safe. He could not remember the last time he’d prayed to Eperna; it was normally Iudex who he worshiped, but only Eperna could have made something so lovely as the little sklavin nuzzled against his side.”I can still remember the day I took you from Auktion Rock,” he said quietly, staring out across the snow-covered meadow as he spoke. ”I wasn’t expecting much. Everywhere I looked, there were sklavins who likely would have dropped dead before they made it back to Irrsin, or those who were too rebellious and not worth the trouble. When I saw you, a little thin but by no means skeletal, and submissiveness clear in your features, I was thrilled.”He stopped here, frowning. When he continued, his voice was softer, almost a whisper. ”It sounds disgusting when I say it out loud, doesn’t it? I never expected Kasimira to resent you, all because I was the one to bring you back to her. I also never expected to find that you were so much more than a quiet little slave.”It was true, every word of it. Adali had beyond exceeded his expectations; each day she tried to win Kasimira’s favor, time after time, failure after failure. Relentlessly she took the sleek ebony alpha the majority of her meals, and made herself available should the queen need anything at all. ”It has never mattered how many times you’d tried only to fail; you continue to try, to give everything you do your best attempt. And that’s something I admire you for.”It was odd, to be sure. It wasn’t a common occurrence for a dominor to admire a sklavin, and yet he did. A soft chuckle slipped from his lips, deep and low as he tucked her tighter again him. Tortuga had allowed his failures to weigh on him and chip away at his cool exterior; he admired her more than she knew.”You are a stronger wolf than I.” NOTES: o;WORDS: 568TAG: Ὀδύσσεια♐

ADALI
With her head pressed so closely to his chest, Adali could feel every rumble of every word. The pace of her heart kicked up once more, thudding so furiously she thought it might have burst from its cavern. Was it the painful memory of Auktion Rock? Was it his admission he had never expected much from her? Or was it the shocking compliment that slipped from his lips and the affection that bloomed? She was not sure what pulsed through her veins more. Stronger? She thought. How could I be stronger than him? I don't have the strength to run away and I don't have the strength to make Kasimira like me. Quickly enough she felt warmness spread through her once more. In the end she was sure that even though she felt sadness, it was vastly outweighed by the joy and the pride that Tortuga thought so highly of her. It's all she'd wanted. She had done one thing right. But, then, how could she tell him what had recently been swarming through her mind? If he knew her growing doubts, would he still hold her in such high regard? She was tired of Kasimira, tired of trying yet never succeeding, tired of the invisible border that caged her. Adali could still remember the first night she had met Tortuga here when they had simply talked, of how she had nearly collapsed at the mere mention of freedom. Now, months past, her fear had transformed into longing. She had been brave enough to jump the hurdle and what she had found on the other side had been beautiful. Peace and a life with Maddox. And, she wondered, how Tortuga would feel if he knew of her growing resentment for his mate. After the cold, ruthless words that had slipped between her teeth when she'd followed the sklavin and Maddox, the strength to keep trying had greatly diminished. She wondered what he might think if she told him she was terrified for her life. But, then, she was still a sklavin. Did it matter? "I was fascinated when I first saw you," the words slip from her before she can hold them back. Pressing her head under his, she only wishes to be closer to him. Somehow, so easily, he kept the cold at bay. "You were confident and strong. So easy to look up to. A dominor any sklavin should want. And Kasimira... I- I looked up to her, too. I was hoping I could gain her favor. Your favor. I'm afraid I am not strong enough to change her mind. Can I not have both?" She whispers the last part so quietly she isn't sure if he can even hear her. Part of her fears what he might think if he could. "Why does she not like me, Tortuga? Is it because of the way you look at me?" Such a bold question. Despite the fact that for so long she could not fathom why he would glance her way, she'd never been oblivious that those glances existed. She knew she should not have mentioned it but her desperate need to be near to Tortuga in every way was too overwhelming. In body and in mind. She wanted him to know. His acceptance was invigorating and she wasn't sure she could let it go.

Tortuga Adali’s soft words reached Tortuga just barely, carried to his auds by the gentle breeze. It was heartbreaking to hear the way her voice lilted, and it sobered him, for he knew exactly how she felt in that moment. He, too, was not in Kasimira’s favor, and it was a cruel thing. The pointed way she turned her muzzle away from him, the swing of her hips as she walked away, the distance in her eyes…it made him feel so much lesser than he was. He could only imagine how Adali felt, destined to a life of failed attempts and silent scorn. He had seen the way his mate and the ivory sklavin interacted, and admittedly there was little hope of improvement. Kasimira was stubborn and once she had made up her mind, it was nearly impossible to change. "Why does she not like me, Tortuga? Is it because of the way you look at me?"He flinched, just slightly, as if he’d been struck. It was dazing to hear it slip from her muzzle, and yet she wasn’t wrong. He had always noticed her more than he had noticed the other female sklavins. In fact, he had barely so much as spoke to any of them save for Adali. Calliope, Matrid, Violet…all of them slender and obedient, to be sure, and yet…different. But Kasimira’s dislike had been born long before that, even. He could remember the look in her eyes the day he’d returned from Auktion Rock, Adali obediently trailing behind him. It had made her suspicious. And rightfully so, apparently, he thought, before shaking his head and speaking.”Yes, partially.” He sighed, a great heaving breath that had him resting his head across her slender shoulders, his confession leaving his lips all at once. ”Did you know that you are the only sklavin I have ever brought home? That is one reason why Kasimira resents you, I think. She did not ask me to go to Auktion Rock that day; I went on my own, intending to bring her a gift, and in return I earned her suspicion.
“If you had been male, or unattractive, or sniveling and broken, she might not have minded. She has never questioned my relationship with any slave, but I don’t think she knew what to believe when I brought you home. And now your recent romps with that brute of yours have given her a believable reason to treat you harshly. I don’t think she would have liked to say that it was insecurity and jealousy that fueled her before; you know how she is. She would never dare admit that she thought her mate would turn away from her for a sklavin.”He huffed again, nestling his head closer against her. ”That would be my best guess. I do not know if she will ever like you, Adali. I don’t believe that she will.” It pained him to admit it, for he saw how Adali yearned for it, and yet it seemed as if lately she had come to the same conclusion. It was conflicted in his mind. He knew he should have supported Kasimira, that it was his duty to back up any decision she made, and yet he could not hate Adali. He could not be unkind to her.”She might be happy if I disliked you,” he said slowly, his voice pitched slightly lower. ”But that won’t happen. You will always have my respect, Adali. And if we’re being honest tonight, a sliver of my heart, as well.” NOTES: /sobWORDS: 589TAG: Ὀδύσσεια♐
