CHALANDRA It was just before midnight. The darkness had filled the valley well tonight, with only a sliver of moonlight amongst the spread of deepening clouds and the wind rose steadily across the long blades of grass, whisking them one way before turning the opposite. Chalandra had spent the past day in this area, her bones stiff and her thoughts heavy. She now laid inside an old fox den, her front paws crossed on the ground and her head laying daintily over them. She'd found this place after leaving Nirco and Echo back at the mesa. She'd ran for what seemed hours, just trying to understand the burning feeling on her lungs. She needed to feel. She needed to refocus herself. The encounter with Echo, paired with the general disarray of the situation, was a sticky one at best, and she'd spent enough time on it. Her mind and being had been with Nirco then, and still he had refused her. Hmph. Males.
Across the sky, a sharp twist of lightning shattered, bringing the darkness to the light and returning it all in a moment. Chalandra flinched at the suddenness and braced herself for what she knew to be coming. And then, only seconds later, the crash upset the stillness of the valley and the earth trembled violently. The grey she-wolf clamped her eyes shut but remained where she was; the storm had been on it's way for quite some time now, and she'd picked this hovel specifically. By the smell, the foxes were long gone. After some digging on her part, it was wide enough to comfortably slip in and out, with a larger den deeper into the ground. She'd be safe for the night, even if tomorrow was slightly more uncertain. As another bolt sparked aberrant against the indigo, her thoughts slipped again to Nirco. When she laid quietly and imagined him in all she'd known him as, Nirco was defined and straight edged. His black fur, the soft flicker of blue. It was rare that his eyes were a blaze or flash of emotion, and Chalandra had almost memorized the way he blinked at her, the way he observed the world through his screen of silence and self questioning. He was so reserved in his motions and his behavior. Tacit when she asked questions, secretive about his personal past when she offered bits and pieces of her own. How was she ever supposed to get through to someone like that? Sighing, Chalandra vaguely wondered where the black male was on a night like this.
For all she knew, he was cuddled up in Echo's pack, tired after a long hunt with them. Maybe he'd joined Echo after she left so abruptly. She'd really been quite rude to him. Musing and gazing out into the valley's brewing storm, Chalandra waited for the rain.

Nirco
With only the darkened skies and and warm summer wind as company, the male had set out and away from his land without so much as a look back. He would return, of course, as he was nowhere near the state of mind to give up on the goals he had set before himself. But that night he had felt the overwhelming urge to get away and taste the freedom he had known for so long. There were no ties and no responsibilities as he trekked further from his borders at a relaxed pace. Tonight, he wasn't the leader of Groavche or the rebellious alpha that would burn slavery to the ground. He was just Nirco.
Several flashes of lightning had struck off in the distance some time after his departure, eliminating the landscape around the brute in a dazzling display of light. It was gone before he could blink, however, and the angry thunder that ripped through the area afterwards sent vibrations up his legs. With a glance up at the clouded sky far above him, he knew it was definitely time to get out of the ever growing storm before the torrential rain began.
He could feel the light drops that fell upon his dusky coat, warning him of the impending downpour that was to come. Without so much as a second thought he had slipped into the nearest cover he could find, taking no notice of the scent that coated the space. He was not expecting the sight of a very familiar she-wolf to meet his eyes upon entrance and the brute nearly jumped out of his own skin with widened eyes when blue met blue. It was the first time in a long time he'd ever been taken by such intense surprise.
With a step back and forced calm shoved upon himself, he evaluated the familiar figure for a moment without so much as a word. The brute wasn't sure where he stood with the she-wolf after their last meeting. He distinctly remembered how lustful she had made him feel, if only for a brief moment before the interruption that had turned everything on it's head. And he remembered how upset she had appeared in his eyes when she had left him there on the edge of the mesa with Echo. What had all that been about? Why had the grey she-wolf left him there? The male couldn't lie that it had stung him slightly when she had turned her back on him. Even so, he did not voice the questions that were now swarming in his mind.
A wary expression taking over his features, he looked from the entrance of the den and then chanced a glance at Chalandra. Would he leave? No, of course not. Her presence was definitely more inviting and enticing than the storm brewing outside, and he could barely ignore the temptation to move closer to her. With great determination he remained where he stood, willing to neither turn away and abandon her or chance an approach. Not until he got an idea of what was running through that head of hers. "Odd how we keep finding each other. Perhaps there really are gods".

CHALANDRA Another bolt of solid light crashed across the sky, illuminating a black pelt that was slowly edging it's way to where Chalandra now lay. You've gotta be kidding me. The scent was unmistakable as it lingered closer and the she-wolf was half tempted to snarl her displeasure. It was definitely him. She knew his form all too well now, with those broad shoulders and his intimidating size. How the hell had he found her? She'd ran miles upon miles away from the mesa. And yet, here he was. The better question, however, was what his reaction would be to ultimately finding her.
Thunder boomed overhead, angry and threatening a downpour as the blue eyes peered into the den through the darkness. Nirco first stepped inside before realizing she was there, backing up as the tension crackled uncomfortably between them. Chalandra's hair stood straight on the back of her neck and her eyes were no longer the moping pair they had been before his arrival, instead flickering a hard, concentrated stare in the shade of the den's overhang. She wasn't sure what she honestly expected him to say when he spoke, and her silence was enough of a response for her.
"Odd how we keep finding each other. Perhaps there really are gods."
Hmph. Chalandra snorted and tossed her head as if throwing his comment to the side.
"Maybe."
From across the valley, the sky rumbled yet again and Chalandra flattened her ears at the small droplets that had begun to fall. It was going to be a big rain, that was for sure. She stood halfway up, watching not to bump her head, and moved towards the back cavern of the den. After a moment's thought, she looked back at Nirco, how he stood outside. He'd be soaked in a little while if she left him there. In all honestly, she hardly knew if she wanted him around anymore, let alone in such a sexual way as when she'd first encountered him. But to leave him outside... No, let him get wet. Look at how he's treated you. Fighting her instinct to growl until he got the point, Chalandra simply dipped her head and offered the other half of the dry space with a flick of her head.
"Even if you believe in the gods, they won't keep you dry. Better come inside."
The exhaustion from her mental state of bitterness and rejection finally took hold of Chalandra. She sighed and circled once before plopping down on the cool ground. Her paws were tucked up into her body and her tail laid stretched behind her, the blue eyes watching Nirco for a reaction. The more she saw him, the more desire inched back into her bones. He was gorgeous, that was for certain. But every time the thoughts urged her to pounce, she shoved it down, waiting for something from him that would inspire her previous self to let the rejection he'd fed her over and over to dissipate. Desperately, she waited for the rain to fall. The silence was painful.

Nirco
The tension within the den was thick and uncomfortable and the brute could swear he felt the anger rolling off of her as if her emotions were biting at his heels. But he did not leave. Maybe just a few months ago he would of done so and especially if he hadn't known her. But he felt as if he'd dug himself too deep with this she-wolf. Did he regret the affections that were growing in his heart for her? No, not at all. She seemed to have little definition of personal space and was frustratingly alluring to his sensibilities. But she was still his Cha. They weren't together and he didn't own her, of course, but he held some hope that she wanted to be a part of his life. Yet from the way she looked at him as he stood partway in the entrance, that seemed to be in question.
"Even if you believe in the gods, they won't keep you dry. Better come inside."
Relief flashed across his eyes and he slowly slid the rest of the way in, having to crouch. Sometimes he hated his own size. "I don't, really, but the evidence is becoming compelling," he said as he lay himself down in the back of the den, perhaps a little too close to the she-wolf for what would be considered comfortable given the tension. Yet Nirco had done so on purpose, seeming to seek out her company more and more each time they met. They had been so frustratingly close to what he knew Chalandra had desired from him all along the last time they were together and although the brute was partly thankful for the interruption, he was still very much male and that part of him was disappointed.
Shaking the thoughts that had sprang into his head away, he slid a glance at the female as another crack of thunder rolled over the land outside and began to wonder why she was upset with him. He had said nothing or done nothing wrong as far as he could remember. The presence of the little red-pelted wolf by the name of Echo had soured things between him and Chalandra, it seemed. Now if only he could piece together why that upset Chalandra so much. Had Chalandra been jealous by the way the other clung to him? Did Chalandra feel jealousy?
As he pondered over everything in silence, Nirco rested his head on one of his large paws, staring out of the den entrance and the swirling rain outside. Normally, the male would of been comfortable in silence. This time, however, it ate away at him like a parasite and he itched to say something. But what? Perhaps the news that he had become an alpha? No, not yet, he thought. Instead, he cleared his head and said the first thing that came to mind. "Nasty storm out there, don't you think?" Yes, he was really discussing the weather with her.

CHALANDRA "I don't, really, but the evidence is becoming compelling,"
Chalandra was half-tempted to roll her eyes at Nirco's "believing" comment, but she kept her composure as he settled into the depths the space provided. Overhead, the world seemed to shake and the silence fell over the pair of them once more. The she-wolf refused to acknowlege the intense absence of sound however, instead bowing to lick her chest thoughtfully. It was strange, not pushing the boundaries with Nirco and the space gaped between them the more she bathed herself.
"Nasty storm out there, don't you think?"
Blue eyes blinking in surprise, Chalandra lifted her head to stare blankly at Nirco. If he'd been driven to discuss the weather, he must really have been desperate. Chalandra narrowed her eyes at the black male, noticing his body langauge and interpreting it mentally. He was finally starting to feel the tension she'd brewed for him. Not that it really mattered, with him asking about the weather like this. Sigh.
"Yeah, it just feels like it's gonna be bad."
Shivering, Chalandra glanced worriedly over at Nirco. As much as she wanted to be frustrated and irate with his tepid responses, the female knew she didn't have it in her. Sooner or later she was going to cave to his physique, and by the looks of him over there in the corner, it was going to be sooner. But before she completely gave in, she would need something from him. He needed to pick a side, show her want he wanted. Just once more. If he turned her down, she'd leave. She'd leave him alone and she'd move on... Taking a deep breath, Chalandra batted her eyelashes, and cooed softly at Nirco.
"I want to apologize. I've been really tense lately..."
She acted embaressed, her head bowed and eyes shaded.
"...and if at all possible, I'd really love to make it up to you."
Her body itched to feel Nirco's as she spoke, but she remained where she was, eyes blazing. It was seduction in everyway, an apology Chalandra-style. Either he'd agree to her first, original intentions or she'd remove herself from the picture. Your move, Silent-paws.
