KASIMIRA Day was just breaking as Kasimira trotted purposefully around the southern most edge of Irrsin. Her blackened ears were pulled up and alert, her tail drawn regally towards the sky. This was her realm. It had taken some time after the fire to accept what had happened; in truth, she still wasn't on par as she had been before the flames that scattered her family. But for now, this state of mind would have to do. She'd lost two of her pups, her two best friends, a loyal beta, and Calliope's pups... There had been enough loss. Irrsin needed a strong leader now--possibly a stronger one than they'd had before the fire--and that someone needed to rile them back to the top of Ravensbruck's pack system. Kasimira, with her eyes closed as she inhaled the aroma of her home, knew deep within herself that she would step up to the plate. She had sulked long enough.
Maybe it was the way Adali and Zy had returned, or the way Violet was fitting into the pack recently. Things seemed, at least on a small scale, normal. The Irrsin wolves were falling back into their typical routine, scouting the land in both a two-wolf dawn and evening patrol. Violet was learning their ways in both etiquette and attack styles, Dresna was learning how to become an effective dominor, Tortuga was joking around with Zy on the slows mid-day brought. Kasimira, herself was simply trying to keep busy. She'd created a small distance between her and her pack after the disaster the fire had created, but now was the time to break the safeties. She had to reconnect with her pack. She had to show them what she was still capable of, and what the other packs had to face should they step a paw out of line.
Speaking of other packs... There had been hint of changing of ranks. That, and that alone, had been the reason Kasimira had opted for a solitary dawn patrol. After hunting rabbits down this way two days prior, the black female could have sworn she'd smelled something different, something particularly foreign on the southern border. As she now padded carefully along the edge of meadow land, she knew she was right. There was a new Alpha in Groavche. The scent was strong enough to know whoever had been ruler there had promptly taken care of--or otherwise. The idea of an alpha like herself being ousted by a freior challenger sent a chill of anxiety up Kasimira's spine, but she promptly forced it down. Irrsin was a well built and feared pack; there was no reason to worry that her reign was in danger from opposing forces.
Besides, with Tortuga at her side, who was a serious concern? She'd never had any pack squabbles besides her fight with Einheit's old Alpha, Phantom. But even he had been lost through time's lengthening, replaced by a lesser known succesor. Kasimira didn't even know the new Alpha's name, only that she was female and the pack could be considered scrawny at best. Very few scents and border patrols came from that direction, and faintly Kasimira wondered if she should pay her neighbors a visit. Maybe her and Tortuga could go and introduce themselves, make Irrsin known better. It certaintly wouldn't hurt to see the other lands for a brief period. Knowledge of the land layout could be useful if a scrimish broke out...
Turning her muzzle back toward the dens to the north, Kasimira pulled herself into an easy jog. She would visit the packs later, after a full pack hunt. That would make for good teamwork that Irrsin so desperately needed. The black she-wolf bolted firmly across the meadow grasses, stretching and retracting over the earth in a roll of strength. This was the feeling she lived for. This freedom, this energy and life. This is what Irrsin was. Howling to awaken her pack, Kasimira slowed to pace roughly outside the dens. Her blood was up from the short sprint and she was ready for a kill to fill her belly. Breakfast time, everyone.

TORTUGA Tortuga had just stepped back into Irrsin territory when he heard the howl.
It was long and loud, with pride laced through every note. There was no mistaking that it had come from Kasimira. While normally the very sound of his mate's voice made Tortuga's skin crawl with happiness and longing, today it made his heart drop. He had just returned home after his night out, and he feared that he still smelled of the other she-wolf that he had met in the forest. The very thought of her made Tortuga cringe with shame. And now here he was, slinking through his own land like a cowardly dog, returning to his mate and pups with a heavy conscious. The thought made his stomach churn, but he had no time to contemplate his actions.
He bounded forwards, putting as much space between himself and the border as possible. Then, before he could give the idea much thought, Tortuga plunged into the stream that ran alongside him. The water was frigid, chilling him to the bone, but he had little other choice. If Kasimira asked why he had come from the other side of the territory, soaking wet, he would have to lie. He could easily say that he had gone to patrol the border and had then decided on a swim. Still, the thought of lying to her made him uneasy. She knew him so well that he feared she would see through him as if he were made of glass.
After wallowing in the water for a moment, Tortuga sprang back onto dry land, shaking droplets from his thick pelt. Then, praying to the Gods that the scent did not still linger on his fur, he took off across the field. The sun shone down on his back, warming his freezing limbs as he ran. By the time the dens were visible in the distance, he was partially dry and thoroughly exhausted from his sleepless night. He knew already that Kasimira would want to hunt, especially if she was rousing the pack so early. He would have to push his exhaustion aside, and his irritation especially.
He could see Kasimira lingering near the dens, waiting for the pack to rouse themselves from their slumber. Slowing his powerful gallop to a brisk trot, Tortuga hurried to her, stopping a slight distance away. He wanted nothing more than to greet her warmly, to rub his damp head against her silky black pelt affectionately, but he could not, not when his mind still whirled with paranoia. Instead, he shot her a charming grin from his safe distance, hoping that his eyes did not give him away.
"Goodmorning, my love."

Dresna All night, Dresna had tossed and turned restlessly, plagued by bizarre dreams and repetitive nightmares. Shadows slunk through her fantasies, curled around her paws, choked her screams until she woke up panting and terrified. After she had calmed herself, she would drift away into sleep again, only to repeat the process over and over. It was frustrating to no end, so when the sound of her mother's howl woke her from her light slumber, she was more relieved than annoyed. It had been the worst night that Dresna had experienced since the fires and the loss of her siblings; she was anxious to forget about it. Rolling to her feet, Dresna yawned and stretched, shaking the weariness from her bones. After ensuring that she looked presentable and that all traces of dirt had been removed from her snowy pelt, the she-wolf lifted her head high and strutted into the sunlight. Her movements had evolved with time, no longer unsure and poseresque. After months of observing her mother’s every move, Dresna had shaped up nicely. She moved with confidence now, her posture proud and her movements tantalizing, the swing of her hips so similar to Kasimira's that the resemblance was uncanny. There was less fire in Dresna, however, less raw, uncontained fierceness. She had inherited a certain calm, aloof demeanor from her father. It was an even mixture that she had perfected finally; she strutted and flirted as mercilessly as Kasimira did, yet radiated an amount of steady, unwavering coolness that even Tortuga would have admired. Speaking of her father, he was already present when she emerged from the den, standing just to the side of her mother. She dipped her head in acknowledgement, before lifting her face towards the sunlight. It was a gorgeous day, warm but not sweltering. From the looks of it, her father had found his way to the stream not long ago; the fur on his chest was still wet, dripping water into the grass beneath him. For a brief moment, Dresna allowed herself to daydream. She would have loved to take a swim while the day was nice, but her mother had called her for a reason. Either they were going to have a pack meeting, hunt together, or perhaps even both. A bath would have to wait. Blinking away her fantasies, Dresna turned to glance at the dens behind her, wondering who would be the next face to join them. While the pack was not as large as it once had been, the new growth after the fire had brought back a few familiar faces. They were certainly larger than any of the other packs, all of which were still scrawny and far from being considered threats. Violet had adapted quickly to pack life with Dresna's guidance, Zy was still as goofy and careless as ever, and there was no shortness of prey now that the grass was lush and green again. Finally, it seemed as if things had returned to their natural order. [/blockquote]

ADLER At the sudden howl of his Alpha female, Adler blinked sharply awake. Morning already? The little jaw opened in a wide stretch and ended with a pup's squeak. It seemed like he'd just fallen asleep, after yesterday's adventures of bird-chasing and meadow-hopping... The young male shook his small, grey head and blinked his eyes a few times more, trying to adjust to the darkness of the den. Zy, Dresna, Adali, Violet, Lanze and himself all slept here, and he noticed almost instantly that the white pelt of Irrsin's sole heir was missing from the bunch. Hmm.
Adler sat up slowly, thinking over the possibilities that the day held for him as he began his morning bath. Maybe Tortuga and Zy would take him and his brother out on border patrol! Or maybe they'd be taken to see another pack entirely! In a pup's excitement, Adler drew his tongue more rapidly over his tail fur before realizing that he'd completely forgotten about the howl that had woken him to begin with. Kasimira had been the one calling them, and although he wasn't sure what she wanted, his mind began to slowly wandered to the possible adventures that lay before him. He finished licking his fur hastily before narrowing his eyes at the wolves that lay sleeping. Lanze was right there in front of him, still sleeping and seemingly unfazed by the Alpha's call.
Adler quietly nudged Lanze's head with his paw before poking a claw carefully into his muzzle in order to further rouse him. Using his claws like that had been something Lanze had told him over and over to quit doing, but there was a certain way about how his brother protested every time that made something inside the young wolf do it anyways. And this morning would be no different in that respect. The steel grey male shuffled slowly to the den's entrance in order to avoid stepping on any of his pack mates, and then glanced anxiously out of the den and into the morning sunlight.
It was so beautiful, and especially at this hour. Adler's golden eyes swept the lands to where Kasimira stood conversing with Tortuga, followed by Dresna's equally white pelt joining the group. Adler grinned sheepishly before plunging himself forward, the long, stocky legs racing as fast as they could. He stopped a ways off before reaching the group, wincing at the memory from a few moons ago when he'd barreled head-first into the black Irrsin Queen herself. Kasimira had been none too happy about the ordeal, and he'd almost gotten his ear talked off about his 'reckless behavior'. Ever since then he'd steered himself a little more carefully when running.
But on a morning like this, Adler didn't have time to think over past faults. He felt so alive out here! Trotting more cautiously towards Dresna, the half-year pulled his manners together and dipped his head respectfully before talking. He'd been trying to act a little more grown-up than he was, but he wasn't always sure of how it came off.
"Nice weather out here, huh?"
A cool wind suddenly ruffled his fur and he cast a glance back at the dens. No sign of Lanze yet. Maybe he could try and weasel some information out of Dresna about this meeting while he had the chance. Lanze was always getting along great with the adults, so why couldn't he?
"Sooooo, er, what's the plan for today?"
There was that sheepish grin again, Adler's trademark go-to when he felt out of place. Hopefully Lanze would get a move on...

Adali & Lanze Adali had not rejoined her pack-mates upon her return the previous night. Instead she opted to curl under a small, lonesome tree isolated from the dens. Sleep had been next to impossible for the she-wolf, a deep sense of shame and depression clutching to her like a ravenous leech slowly sucking the life out of her. How could she have been so foolish? She had betrayed her Dominor's trust, something that never had she thought of doing before. Though it wasn't as if she had planned on doing so this time, either. The sklavin had been so elated to see her savoir again that she hadn't been able to help herself from sneaking of when he had come calling, if only for a short while. And when Kasimira had discovered them, she had even had the brief idea of running away with him. She was in love. She was frightened. She knew her actions had been wrong. She was a disgrace. She hated herself. Not even the merry chirp of a distant bird nor the warm blanket of morning sunlight could ease her.
It took her longer than normal to rise when Kasimira had shown up once more. Typically, Adali always attempted to be one of the first by her side. But this morning she had lingered much longer under the leafless tree. It took every ounce of energy to find her paws and drag herself towards the gathering pack. However, she no longer felt a part of them, and remained sulked on the far edges of the growing group. Maybe Kasimira wouldn't see her. Maybe she would forget her. Or maybe, just maybe, she would forgive her.
The female sklavin's morose deminior was a far cry from that of her younger peer. Lanze was quite comfortably curled amongst his pack-mates, cozied up to one of the adults that he cared little to identify. That night had probably been one of the best sleeps he'd ever had in his entire six months of life.
Completely unaware of the goings-on of life around him, the youth had entirely missed his alpha's call and slumbered on. Something had pressed against his skull, however, stirring the pup somewhat. He grumbled something entirely incoherent, even going as far as to swat at whatever it was poking his muzzle. It was only when he found nothing there that his eyes squinted open in time to catch Adler slipping from the den. What could possibly be as interesting as sleep at this hour? Nothing, that's what.
Rising to long legs, the young male of brown furs groggily pursued his larger brother, nearly colliding with one of the den's walls in the process. Awakening seemed a dangerous process. Once navigating himself into the light, he sat himself beside his sibling. The exchange of words shared with Kasimira were lost on him, and Lanze still wasn't aware what was going on. A hind paw came up to scratch at an ear, causing him to fall sideways into the larger pup. "Damn it, Adler, get your fat fur out of my way," chided Lanze before shaking any remnants of sleep from his body.
