Midnight descended quickly upon the land as a figure slipped beneath the trees. The form was horribly lanky, a swift beast as it moved, trotting and growling into the night. It was easy to tell that the wolf was a male, his shoulders broad and his scent musky as he made his way along. The only sound in the forest was the soft cooing of a nightingale; the male didn't even flick his ears as it called to him, instead pressing further into the woods, his eyes dark and rimmed with a mix of lust and anger.[/size]
For the past week, things had seemingly spiraled out of control. And he'd simply watched. His relationship with Hayashi hadn't improved at all. It was probably caused by his bluntness in front of the new sklavins, but something had held him back from allowing himself to claim any allegiance other than pack relations to the pretty female. She was beautiful, yes. More than that. She was stunning, with her robe of soft beige, the crystal blue eyes, the black claws. Everything about her was flawless. She had her scars but to him they didn't detract. They showed her as she really was. Experienced. A leader.
"Shut up. She's nothing compared to me".
Faster than he could think, she was standing before him, the white and black fur striking in comparison to the dull grey of the surrounding woods. Reiner's breath caught, his eyes locked and flickering. Sicoya's eyes blazed furiously and she bared her teeth, spitting curses at him as she strode forward.
"I can give you anything you want. Just say the words."
Reiner's eyes glazed over as her fur brushed his, the sentences blurring with her scent, her presence. Confused, the male shook his head, trying to ignore the she-wolf's soft coos and pleas. He couldn't give in to the madness tonight. Reiner growled softly as Sicoya's frame circled him, delight trickling through him, paired only with a sinking bitterness. He'd come here to get away from it all, away from her, away from Hayashi. Away from responsibilities.
"I want something you can't give me anymore."
Snarling the words, the maned wolf bolted off into the forest, his blood coursing and his mind reeling. He sprinted through the woods, breathing deeply, the actions processing in slow motion. What had he said to her? She'd been more to him, meant more to him than just that. Immediately the male regretted the words, casting a glance behind him in hopes of seeing her. Maybe he could apologize, snatch the words from the air before they reached her angelic ears.
There was no one behind him. No glittering angel, no ravishing beauty. Nothing. In frustration, Reiner raised his lips to the canopy of leaves above him, howling, bellowing his sorrows. Why did she do this to him? The endless haunting figure, the fake chats they held through the night. Just a few days ago he'd sat outside his den and talked to her for a few hours, staring at the stars as they twinkled their approval. He'd been tired as hell the next day, insisting to Hayashi that he'd eaten something that didn't agree with his stomach. Reiner knew well enough that the Dü'rkell Alpha hadn't really, truly believed him, but she'd let it slip, warning him that he'd better get more sleep in the future. It had been a teasing, flirtatious gesture and again, he'd ignored it, unable to boldly play back.
Shaking his head, Reiner padded further into the forest, letting his mind fall from Hayashi and Sicoya to flutter blankly, considering only his surroundings. The forest was lovely at night, thick and dense as only it could provide. Before him thundered a waterfall and Reiner moved steadily onward; maybe a dip in the water would do him good. He could clear his thoughts, let the small pool relax him. As the male neared the waterfall further, however, a noise sounded behind him. Snap.
Snarling, with claws outstretched, Reiner spun around, gaining a defensive stance as his eyes gazed for the perpetrator. They'd be sorry, startling him like that... Narrowing his grey eyes, the male called angrily into the darkness, a prickle of fear racing up his spine. Sure was darker out here than he remembered.
ooc--I'd prefer whoever responds uses a female. I'm looking for a romantic interest for Reiner, someone to spice his life up with. Amuse him.
