ERUS A tall red and black beast sits at the edge of the forest, a hungry gleam in his eyes. Power calls to him, and he is so close...
In the center of the blood stained rocks and valleys of Dominor Streiten, the brute stands, black eyes dancing with rage and daring. A powerful threat tears from his threat, the challenge echoing through the hollow cavernous hell...
A week has passed, and none have replied. Regnen is his...
Erus pads deep into the forested grounds of Regnen, head held high and thick, ebony mane stiff and risen with pride. Brown-black eyes flicker from tree to tree, rock to rock, bush to plant to mound to hill, committing it all to memory. This land was now his, and he must learn to traverse it without thought or difficulty. He must learn to read it's warnings, it's favors, and it's signs of passage. It was a beautiful land, with all the necessities in the plentiful. Trees created a thick, shady forest that was a haven for game both large and small, creeks fed rivers that fed fish and water and certain water herbs and edibles. The air was cool, yet warm; the leaves would shield them from the worst of any weather. Regnen territory was perfect.
With a smug, arrogant smile, Erus sat in the center of a broad clearing. It was a tiny patch of heaven, a natural curving dip into the soft earth, covered in soft, dry grass that grew to about mid calf height. It was estimately about fifty feet in diameter, an almost perfect circle that was surrounded by the thick, protecting arms of the trees. A pile of boulders near the head of the clearing would serve as a good speaking position, and an old fox den near the base could be widened and fortified into a moderately comfortable den for himself. The trees at the edge were old and huge, with great twisting roots that could be cleared of dirt and turned to dens quite easily, as well as a small, dry creekbed that cut an indenting bank about five feet deep at the left edge of the clearing. This clearing would be a perfect safe haven for his pack.
Nodding approvingly, Erus leaped to his feet and pounced up the boulder pile until he sat at the top, staring down at the ground about twenty feet below. Perfect. Tilting his white furred throat to the sky, a haunting melody sprang from his lips, calling the Regnen to his side. Here he would introduce himself as their future hope, their future success. He would always respond to a challenge, and never leave them in the dust so easily as this Shard character.

Vernado Do you recognize the face in the [ m i r r o r ] looking back at you? He told himself he’d come back but now this was under different circumstances. He was no longer the dominor that reigned the land with pride in the members. He was now a roaming dominor, drifting from one place to the next, restless. He kept a watchful eye on his former pack members, wondering if they bitterly cursed his name or secretly wished for his return. Whatever the case might be, they were in for a surprise. He had been slinking around the boarders, observing them and ensuring himself they were cared for. Most importantly, Vernado was plotting, wondering as to how he would make the move and get the land back. He was silent, encased in shadow as he watched with dark eyes as the new alpha strode in. His arrogance seethed from his body like a foul odor and Vernado felt his large muscle mass tense. There was a smug look about him, and air that seemed to demand the highest respect and nothing but the best. He immediately disliked him and although he usually didn’t judge a book by its cover, there was plenty that caused Vernado’s blood to boil.
The male seemed to be surveying the land, clearly pleased with the outcome and what he had won. The maned wolf was taller than him by roughly a couple inches but Vernado was not put off by this. He knew what needed to be done and that was to slink his way back into Regnen, learn this about this male, and essentially challenge him for what he had lost. The shadows clung to his gray scaled form with ease, providing him with natural camouflage that shielded him from sight. He continued to observe without being noticed, wondering where the pack was, hoping that they would soon emerge unharmed. He snorted to himself, watching as the Alpha sprang up onto a boulder and announced his location, beckoning the pack to join him. It was now or never that Vernado would intermingle his way back into the pack. He rose, hauling himself up to his paws in a single, fluid motion. He would get on this male’s good side but he would never know of the no good intentions that were lingering and rolling beneath the surface.
Once the male’s howl ended, Vernado’s howl reverberated through the trees, bouncing off the surfaces of the foliage in a deep and low note. It was a bold howl asking for admittance to the pack, and to pass the boundary line he had been waiting behind. As his howl drifted into the land without hesitation, he shook his coat out and waited for the male to give an indication for him to approach or to come seek Vernado out himself. All Vernado could do at this moment was hope that no one in the pack would give him away by greeting him with his name attached to their response. There was no time like the present to learn what would happen next and he was willing to find out.

ERUS Erus lifted his head from the silence that echoed in the wake of his howl, hearing the almost instant reply of a male, nearby his territory but not quite on it just yet. He was requesting allowance to enter. The Maned Wolf tilted his head back and bayed his response, telling the male he may enter but that he'd better not be here to cause problems, and that he was to come straight to where Erus stood on his pile of boulders.
As he finished his response, another howl rose up on the wind. This one was a female's, finally! The voice spoke of a strong female, but one who was used to serving. A new Sklavin? That would be wondrous, for surely Shard had not gotten far in breaking her if her voice was still so strong. That or she was very obedient... The fantasies were endless, in the mind of a sick brute like himself. Once again he tilted his head back and called to her, ordering her to come to this clearing now. Her call returned instantly in obedience, agreeing with his wants, and he smiled with pleasure. The smile almost reached his eyes, and was the closest to happiness that he had displayed in a long, long time.
Soon a pure, golden wolfess floated into the clearing on light feet, head held as high as a Sklavin could without declaring threats or seeming dominant. She was definitely new to being a Sklavin, and unused to being inferior. Perfect. Well hello there Beautiful, you wouldn't happen to be spoken for would you? [/blockquote] WICCA The golden brown fae lifted her head delicately, amber gaze turning in a careful circle around the chosen clearing. It was a good choice for a camp, with an easily protected perimeter, and places that would be easily turned into dens. Her eyes shifted to the pile of boulders and the large Maned Wolf brute standing on the top with a smooth grin on his face. His almost pure black eyes scanned over her body, tellably interested, and she snorted. Sorry, sir. I have a master, and a chosen mate. I am spoken for, as well as with pack. My pack is Regnen, which is the ground you currently stand on. Her tone was carefully obeying and soft, but firm.
A chuckle greeted her words. Oh, my dearest. Your Alpha ignored my challenge, so he is now banned from these lands, to never return. Regnen is now mine, as well as you, who is a Sklavin of Regnen. Shard lost his servants when he lost his pride and land, if he ever indeed had them. My name is Erus, and I am your new Master. Master or My Lord will do simply, and as long as you are a good girl you will remain a fairly free slave. The gleam in his eyes spoke of such innuendos to describe what would happen if she was not a good girl, though the brute thought of himself as a gentleman who would not touch a female once he had proof she was spoken for. Yes, Master. Wicca sat down with her head dipped, waiting for her fellow packmates to come for her and this male, Erus. He was huge, and she didn't much like the air of confidence and arrogance that rippled from him like skunk stench. More than anything, she wanted Phrino, and for him to speak for her and save her virtue from this obviously virtue-less male. Her entire body screamed at her to refuse him, to run, but her last year and a half of Sklavin training told her that would be the worst move to make with a male as predatory as this, especially while the two were alone. Later... Patience girl... Keep playing your game... You are a poor, obedient innocent who has a slight issue with being a bit crazy... Patience.... One day, you'll go back to Dachau, back to Dünen, and you'll bring Phrino with you to your freedom. Then he will be so grateful, he will realize his idiocy, he will be yours. Even to her, those last thoughts sounded fake and like lies, but she could hope.[/blockquote]

Aditi A bright pink tongue lolled out of her muzzle as Aditi sprinted after the squirrel. She was aware of nothing but the furry creature she pursued, its bushy tail waving wildly, egging her on. The squirrel, rather than run straight for a tree, scrambled up the side of a builder. At its peak it jumped, tiny paws stretched forward to latch on to the bark of the tree it was aiming for. While the squirrel still hung in the air, Aditi rose up on her hind paws and lunged for it. Her jaws clamped around its tiny body, dragging it down as her front paws hit the ground.
Elated at her kill, Aditi shook her prey back and forth quickly, then threw it up in the air. It hit the ground and lay still. Her heartbeat was beginning to calm and the adrenaline rush was was slowly subsiding. As she watched the unmoving body intently, Aditi couldn't help but feel that this was anticlimactic. The hunt was so thrilling, but all she had to show for it was a small squirrel. What she wouldn't give to take down a deer or an elk! But a hunt like that required a pack, and Regnen had undergone too much upheaval lately to organize any kind of coordinated effort. She sighed and bent her head to retrieve the squirrel when a sudden sound ripped through the forest.
It was unmistakably a summons, but the only wolf with that power was Shard, and that howl was definitely not his. Before Aditi had a chance to wonder about this, another howl sounded much closer to her. This one she recognized, and her heart skipped a beat when she matched it with a name. It couldn't be him; he was surely dead. That could be the only explanation for why he disappeared, why she couldn't find him. And yet, she wanted it to be him.
Aditi knew she had to answer the mysterious wolf's summons, but she could take a little detour on the way there. Scooping up the squirrel--it would be a pity to waste good food--she walked in the direction of the second howl.
When she found the wolf, she couldn't believe her eyes. The squirrel dropped to the ground as her jaw went slack. "Vernado?" she asked softly, almost afraid he wasn't real. Padding forward, she nosed his side cautiously. When he appeared solid, her eyes lit up.
"You're alive! You're back!" The joyous expression lasted a moment before it changed to one of anger. "You jackass! You left me here all alone!" She bared her teeth. "You better have a good explanation for this or I will . . . I will never speak to you again!"

Vernado Do you recognize the face in the [ m i r r o r ] looking back at you? It took but a mere moment for a response to his howl, one that summoned Vernado forward. He took note of the underlying warning that he had better not be here to stir up trouble. His face was devoid of emotion, empty, and unreadable to anyone. He hauled himself up to his paws, eyes focused on the Maned male that beckoned him closer. With a steady step forwards, he almost continued the repetition on the other legs before a voice cracked through the silence around. ”Vernado?” The voice sounded familiar, and of course it took him seconds to piece together who it was. His eyes flickered to the short Mexican Wolf, gazing at her with a pleasant expression on his face. The usually inexpressive Vernado had been able to open himself up to his pack members and thus, the crooked smile across his lips didn’t feel as foreign to him as it would have been before.
He was shocked that she greeted him like an old friend, rushing up to his side and nosing his gray shaded coat as if to test the authenticity. He gave a gentle chuckle that was just as deep as his voice. ”Aditi, I am real,” he assured her, confused that she had been so thrilled to see him. Perhaps the negativity in his mind had been purposely making him think that way for she seemed relieved to see him. Before he could even ask her any sort of question, she became angry and pensive. Her teeth were bared as she swore at him, demanding an explanation that would satisfy all her questions. She deserved every last bit of it as did the others but he shifted a moment, eyes going cloudy and once more appearing in their empty state. He exhaled a moment, trying to figure out how to best explain what had happened to him. Would she believe him? That was the problem that flickered through his mind. Even Aditi laughing at him would be just as a reasonable offense but honesty was always the best policy in his mind.
”When I went out hunting, I was ambushed and forced to lay low for quite some time. They threatened to harm you all and I couldn’t have that. I’m here now but you must promise me something, Dee,” he paused a moment, his low voice practically unheard of as he was whispering to ensure that the male could not hear. His chances of hearing were slim as Vernado was so far out of earshot anyways. He shifted a moment, muscles rolling beneath his coat as he regarded her with a serious stare. ”Promise me you’ll act like you don’t know me or call me by my real name because starting now I am known as Viziare. I’ve come back to take what is rightfully mine but for now I will be nothing more than a fellow pack member. Can you do that for me, Aditi?” His eyes were steady, pleading with her to agree and keep to her word. He knew he would have to tell the others but he had now gotten one member to know of his plan. His eyes turned towards the male, relieved that was busy conversing with another to notice he had yet to make an appearance but right now, he was consumed with other duties.
Ooc: Short, sweet, and to the point. (:

Aditi Though she regarded her former Alpha with a cool gaze when he began to speak, Aditi's anger did not remain long. It was her nature to have quick-changing moods, but Vernado cut through her defenses like a claw through loose soil. Even if she technically choose Regnen, he would always be the one who rescued her from the lonely, lonely time.
"When I went out hunting, I was ambushed and forced to lay low for quite some time. They threatened to harm you all and I couldn’t have that."
Relief washed over her and she immediately felt ashamed of it. The look on his face told Aditi how horrible the experience had been for him, but she couldn't help but rejoice in the fact that he had not left by choice. If he had wanted to abandon his pack, if she had driven him away, Aditi wasn't sure she would have been able to bear it. "I'm sorry, Vernado. I-I didn't think," she murmured, but he had more to say.
"I’m here now but you must promise me something, Dee."
Aditi felt as if she had been tossed into a river of ice cold water. A tightness in her chest restricted her breathing and felt on the verge of crying. She vaguely remembered mentioning that nickname, among others, in passing when she first met Vernado. That he would use a nickname was startling enough, but that he chose that particular truly caught her off guard. It was her father's pet name for her. Hearing Vernado say it made her realize that her father would never call her that again. Though she told herself she was moving on in her life, she was still grieving. Even before Vernado finished, she knew she would do anything he asked.
"Promise me you’ll act like you don’t know me or call me by my real name because starting now I am known as Viziare. I’ve come back to take what is rightfully mine but for now I will be nothing more than a fellow pack member. Can you do that for me, Aditi?"
"Of course," she whispered. "I'll do whatever I can to help you get Regnen back, Vernado. You--" Aditi took a deep breath and waited for the lump in her throat to pass. "This place needs you."
She shook herself to clear up her head, managing a small smile to let Vernado know she was alright. When she thought the pact they had just made, her smile grew. Vernado was here to take back his land and she would be helping him do it. "Come on, Viziare. Let's go meet our Alpha."
Before heading to the camp, Aditi paused to collect the squirrel. She had a new purpose in mind for it now. Carrying the prey in her jaws, she was unable to speak. She hoped Vernado wouldn't mind her silence.
There was no doubt that the powerful-looking Maned Wolf on top of the boulders had issued the call. With one look at his giant frame, she knew that Shard was no longer in charge, if he was still in Regnen at all. At the moment rusty male was occupied with talking to Wicca. A chill ran down Aditi's spine as she saw the way he looked at the sklavin. Unaware of her action, she moved closer to Vernado, seeking protection. She thanked Eperna that she was not enslaved to this hulking brute. Hopefully Vernado would take back his land sooner rather than later. But if she wanted to plan to succeed, she would have to make sure the Alpha didn't suspect.
Steeling herself for the encounter, Aditi approached the boulders. With every step she rebuilt the barriers that Vernado had broken through, until she again walked with her assumed swagger. She placed the squirrel at the base of the boulders and back away until she could look at the new Alpha without craning her neck. She tried to keep a look of disgust away as her eyes found his leering face.
"A gift, sir. To welcome you to Regnen." He definitely looked like to type who responded well to gifts and flattery, though Aditi wished she had brought something more substantial than a squirrel. She also hoped she would be able to keep herself from insulting him.

PHRINO Throughout the thick forest of Regnen called a voice to Phrino, his ears pricking in response as he pulled his nose from the ground. It was a sharp, demanding song, and one that urged him to leave his current affairs, greet his Alpha. Phrino trotted forward a few steps, tilting his head to listen further. There was something off about the tune, about the clarity of the voice beneath and how it resonated in reason and meaning. It certainly wasn't Shard, that much was certain. His interest piqued, Phrino left his position on the pack's western most border, his eyes searching for the wolf who had called him forth.
Roughly a week had passed since Shard's claiming and the male's relationship with Wicca had not improved in the slightest. He had strayed far from the pack's main gathering, backing away from the others in physical and emotional aspects alike. Wicca was too much to deal with, with her delicate face and slender, feminine figure proving too much of a test for his feeble mind. She was still beautiful and fiery, her soul burning, yearning to be with him. But he couldn't, he wouldn't. She had shown where her loyalties lay. She'd left him searching for her, and all those days he'd scoured the lands, praying to Brenn, hoping and pleading with her life had been in vain. He had no bargaining power against the Dünen patron god, and yet he had howled an offering to the surreal being. His life for her survival.
Either the gods hadn't been home that afternoon or his request had been refused. Angrily, Phrino had fled his old home in a rage and soon after he was apprehended by slave traders. What low, flea-ridden brutes they had been, to take advantage of a Zielle like that... Phrino's pelt rippled in whirlwind of renewed hostilities, his eyes flickering with distrust as he made his way further into the land. Those days were behind him. He needed to start letting go, attempt to move on. Something inside the golden male simply laughed. He would never move on from her.
As Phrino slid further beneath the heavy canopy above, he heard soft talking, a mix of whispers and sidelong mutters. Carefully and swiftly the brute strode forward, bursting through the trees to meet two wolves. The first was a striking white male, easily identifiable by scent alone. The other was the female he'd struck up the recklessly flirtatious conversation with earlier. He'd be lucky if she didn't try and finish chewing his ear off from where she'd left off before... Still, Phrino was in quite a mood, his blood up from agitation and previous, flaring annoyance. Strutting forward rather boldly, he'd try his luck again. His eyebrows arched as his muscled form circled the female once, coming to sit on her right side with a rather playfully innocent look plastered on his face.
"So who's the friend?"
MERONA Breathing heavy and labored, Merona flew over the ground as she ran, her steps weary from the distance she'd traveled so far. Disillusioned with her pack, Merona had left for a few days to gather her thoughts, think about what had transpired in a few short hours. It was too strange and repulsive to think of Vernado as something other than her leader, her savior. He'd freed her from the chains of being a lowly sklavin, given her the wings to fly over the lands with her own strength, her own voice in a figurative sense. He had liberated her soul and for that, she would be eternally grateful. If she ever came across a sniff of him she would follow it until it led her to his form, the white fur and glistening, sympathetic eyes. How she loved those eyes.
Inwardly, Merona knew all too well she had been searching for that snow white fur as she'd left the Regnen lands, her eyes peeled for anything resembling her missing leader. She had found nothing, no trace or scent, no pressed paw step or tuft of fur to lead her in any direction towards Vernado. In that sense, she had failed. Still, in her absence from the pack lands, Merona had haphazardly run into a rather strange wolf. He'd been different than most, talking to her as if she responded, listening to the silence and not questioning it's blatant presence. His voice repeated endlessly in her mind as she replayed the conversation, listening to the tone and quality with which he'd pronounced his name with. Cúthail. It was beautiful to her, with the slurring vowels and soft noises. Merona wished desperately to speak the word herself; she wanted to feel the flick of her tongue or the harsh, discordant sound. She wanted to test the language and use it as no one else had. It consumed her enough already.
My name is Cúthail, by the way.
Maybe she'd see him again someday. Merona slowed her gait to a trot as she thought the scenario over, keeping her pace brisk, yet quiet and undetectable; she didn't want another member to find her this close to the border and start inquiring about her whereabouts for the past few days. It wasn't as if she could tell them what had really happened anyways. From just before her a strong howl echoed over the woods and Merona jumped in response, her eyes widening. They'd been waiting on her return? Dread crept knowingly through the beige female and she lowered her tail in frightful submission. She bolted towards the sound without thinking, her mind trembling. Please, Eperna, don't let Shard be upset with me.
As the young female entered into the clearing, however, she realized she was completely mistaken. It hadn't been Shard at all. Before her stood a dark, tall male, his eyes brooding as they locked onto hers. Immediately a shiver raced up Merona's pale coat and she tucked her fluffed tail tightly between her legs, whining silently. Who was this? And what was he doing here? Cold trickles of dismay slipped over her as she lowered her eyes, the blue flickering her terrorized emotions more clearly than she'd wanted. What should she do? Frozen in anxiety and alarm, Merona did nothing, her head lowered and her posture anything but challenging. If she was lucky, the pack would hear his announcement and join her before the situation turned south.
I'm no threat to you, sir.

WICCA Wicca is instantly aware of Phrino, and of the fact that he didn't come to rescue her. He went to try another move on Aditi. Like the female would ever take kindly notice to the Sklavin, especially when Wicca planned to intrude whenever possible.
Her gaze crept towards the pair, hoping she would turn him away again. The thought pleased her. Getting to her paws, she trotted towards them as they reached the clearing, with a strange male at their side. Hey Phrino! The golden fae smiles pleasantly in greeting. Who's the new guy? She very purposely sat between him and Aditi, but with enough space that she wasn't touching either one, and grinned at him, pure innocence in her eyes. Been a while since we talked. Think the last time was when I saved your ass, wasn't it? And the time before that, when you once again didn't return my feelings, causing me to flee from embarassment and hurt. Right? 'Bout time we chatted again. Wicca had poured her story and excuse into short, passive form, hoping maybe it would help him at least understand her reasons for leaving. Anything more than that, she could only hope and pray to Epurna for. Please Epurna... I love him, and I think he might have loved me too... If he's not the one for me, send me a sign, I pray...[/blockquote] ERUS The tall male watched all the goings on, eyes narrowing at the whispering pair he had noticed off in the distance. As the female counterpart of this brought him a squirrel, he smiled pleasantly, then shook his head. Thank you, dear fae, but you may keep your prey. He nudged it back towards her in a no-argument sort of way, then raised his head to watch the others. He took note of Wicca's actions, noticing how the femme shot a jealous glare towards the female who had brought him the squirrel. Jealous of her suck-up methods? No. He saw now, as the golden female sat herself between the Squirrel Wolfess and a tan male. He also noticed that he needed to learn names, soon, so he could stop calling them by such rediculious names in his head. Clearing his throat, he stood. Welcome to your new pack, and camp, my friends. I am Erus, the new Alpha of Regnen, as your cowardly male Shard never replied to my challenge. If any of you do not wish to remain, under my rule, you may leave at any time, unless you are a Sklavin. Now, if I may know all of your names, then I shall tell you more of myself and my expectations, plans, and wants for this beautiful land of ours.[/blockquote]

Vernado Do you recognize the face in the [ m i r r o r ] looking back at you? Vernado waited for a reaction to flicker across the young female’s face and when it did, he knew she immediately felt appalled for assuming the worse. He would never purposefully leave his pack behind for he cared for each of the individuals as if he had known them all his life. He gave a crooked smile as she apologized, shaking his head and exhaling a breath. ”It isn’t your fault and there was no way you could have known.” He brushed off the topic with ease, glad that she was in better spirits and wasn’t lunging her way down his throat. Her sudden changes in moods was something he had grown used to but also something that he cherished as it made Aditi who she was as a whole. There wasn’t much else for him to say, let alone, explain to her but he hung in suspense as he waited for her to neither confirm nor deny his request.
He shifted, hiding his unease as she ingested his words, taking them in with the heavy weight. It was something that could provoke a massive road bump in all their futures but Aditi was entitled to her own opinion. He studied her then, watching her face for a moment before she decided to go along with this charade. He was relieved and that signature crooked smile spread across his lips. ”Thank you,” he murmured, nodding to her gently with a look of respect within his eyes. He had a high respect for those who had crossed his path but what worried Vernado was how many unfamiliar faces flickered in and out of his vision. He knew there was another wolf missing, a wolf that was familiar to Vernado that his heart rate nearly began to speed up. His heart pounded against its chamber as worry flooded his face rapidly. Where was Merona? His eyes darted casually about, searching for the female.
Before he could even focus on her form, Aditi was beckoning him forwards, striding towards this new male on the boulders. Vernado followed suit, walking in with constricted strides, every paw step placed in a strategic manner. His scar ridden gray and white coat ruffled by the passing wind and shifting as though it were alive. His muscles flexed and rippled beneath the fur, making it look like waves as he continued his approach. The silence between Aditi and himself didn’t bother him but his sienna colored eyes were still searching until they locked upon her figure. His mind immediately registered her name as though the female could read his mind. ’Merona.’
His rapidly beating heart was soothed, decreasing its pace as he exhaled a sigh. He was fond of the she wolf that part had been clear, but Vernado wondered what she had done when he had left. Had she been worried or gone on with her life as she so pleased? He shook his head, mentally telling himself that it was nonsense to question her about such things; she could do whatever she wanted. He watched her walk directly towards the male, head down, and in silence. He shifted and stopped himself next to Aditi. He was soon aware that she had slightly moved closer to him as if for protection but Vernado didn’t even move. He had been so used to things like this that it barely even registered. He did look a little tense and edgy as a male encircled her and sat beside her before another female, one that was quite envious and horrible at hiding it, flanked him and took a seat in-between them. Had Aditi found a male suitor when he had gone? If so, Vernado was pleased but this male seemed a little too friendly. Never the less, he responded to his inquiry without a moment’s hesitation. ”Viziare,” he stated simply, nodding towards him to silently ask him what his name was as well.
Vernado’s eyes flicked towards the new Alpha and gave a dip of his head in respect. He kept his head down but felt unused to the action. He barely moved as the male explained how he had claimed this land and when he stated the name ‘Shard,’ Vernado’s eyes grew with confusion. Who else had claimed his land while he was gone? Was Shard the only one up until now? All these answers would have to wait for the time being. Shuffling his paws, Vernado easily offered up his alias in a deep, baritone voice. ”Viziare, sir,” he introduced himself without beating around the bush. ”I’m new here and I’ve come to see if you would extend your welcome and allow me to make this land of Regnen my home,” he explained his intentions, words remaining steady and consistent as though he had been a wanderer searching for somewhere to belong and this was just the place.

Aditi Aditi made an exasperated noise as she noticed a golden pelt join the pack of wolves. Despite her hostile behavior toward him, he had relentlessly pursued her. Well, when he wasn't hanging around Wicca. Maybe it was a one-way thing, but Wicca seemed pretty certain that Phrino was hers. Aditi usually enjoyed being the center of attention, but Phrino was just so . . . forward. Maybe they were too similar to be compatible.
The fae tensed as Phrino circled her, twisting her neck to keep him in sight. He came to rest on her right side, his eyes meeting hers with a flirtatious gaze.
"So who's the friend?"
"He's not my mate, if that's what you're wondering." She lowered her voice, as if about to tell Phrino a secret. "Although, he is rather handsome, don't you think, sklavin?" To be honest, she didn't think of Vernado in that way; he was too much like family. But anything that could make Phrino angry was good. She delighted in reminding him of his position in that pack, the reason that they could never actually be together even if she liked him. It was hard to know what buttons to push, though, as he was still a bit of a mystery to her.
Aditi felt relieved when Wicca intruded on their conversation. She still wasn't sure what to do with this femme, but she was highly useful in getting rid of Phrino. She couldn't help but hear what Wicca said, and it piqued her interest. Those two had a long history, it seemed, and she was dying to know what it was.
"Thank you, dear fae, but you may keep your prey."
Shocked, Aditi just watched as he nudged the squirrel away. She couldn't believe the rudeness of the gesture. She had spent time and energy on hunting that squirrel and he just pushed it aside like week-old carrion! "Well, see if I try to do anything nice for you again," she muttered under her breath, pretending that the squirrel had been a thoughtful present and not what she happened to have at the time.
"I am Erus, the new Alpha of Regnen."
Not for long, Aditi thought smugly, glancing sideways at Vernado. She was surprised to see how calm he looked. How was he not burning with anger at this pretender to the throne? She was, but then she had always had a problem with her temper.
"If any of you do not wish to remain, under my rule, you may leave at any time."
If not for her promise to Vernado, she would have left then and there. She didn't like this haughty brute anymore than she had liked Shard. It would be hard to hide her discontent, but she would have to try. For Vernado, she told herself, For home.
"Aditi . . . sir. I am a full pack member and have been since . . . since I joined." She didn't want to give Vernado, even by hinting that there was an Alpha before Shard, but she also didn't want to be confused in anyway with a sklavin.
Ooc- Sorry, it was kind of rushed. I'll try to remember the order from now on. xD
