THOMASSEN Thomassen picked his way through the undergrowth, hating the way the twigs and leaves clung to his all-around spiky fur. Every few pawsteps, he would stop to pick out some fragment of a stick he stepped on or untangled himself from brambles that caught on his fur. The melted snow and mud underpaw was disgusting; each step he took into it made him want to take a bath. He felt more suited to the plains and areas with little to no trees. At least those trees would not unexpectedly drop branches on his head and stun him for half a day.
As he wandered, Thom heard the sound of roaring water. Trying to determine where it was located -- he was rather thirsty -- Thom followed the sound. Unfortunately for him, he had never been through these parts of the woods before. It was only after a long while that Thom found himself by a churning river. With his tail wagging in satisfaction and body cooled by the spray of aqua, he lowered his head and drank to his heart's content. The water tasted so clear on his tongue, so sparkling, so pure. Thom looked in the water, hoping for possibly any fish he could eat. To his dissatisfaction, there were none.
Thomassen then decided to follow the river downstream. Perhaps there was some delicious meals to be caught there. He felt much better having water spray over him than having to push and shove his way through the undergrowth of the forest. But before he could go any farther, his legs turned to jelly. Hardly able to take another step forward, Thomassen simply flopped down on a nearby rock and dangled a paw in the river.
It was several hours before Thom stood back up and continued his meandering. He realized that the river was beginning to flow much more easily and spraying less and less water on him. The river soon settled into a small pool, where a small waterfall was also present. There were small growths of flowers here and there, adding color to already such a magnificent location. Thom jumped happily into the river, glad to wash the mush of mud and debris off of his legs. It was too disgusting to lick, and the water would dislodge most of the stuff. He splashed around for a while before returning to shore to doze.
