TORTUGA Although there was a slight chill in the air, winter was finally over. The sun bore down brightly, heating the sand below Tortuga's paws as he padded carefully down towards the water. Once his paws kissed the chilly blue waves that swept up to meet him, he stopped in place, tilting his head back to gaze up at the sky. It was a shade of blue that nearly matched his cerulean eyes, and he smiled faintly, his posture relaxed and muscles loose.
The last time he had wandered from Irrsin had been when he'd traveled to Auktion Rock, where he had picked up the Sklavin, Adali. Now, being here on the beach without a motive or much of a purpose was...different. He had slipped from Irrsin early that morning, had wandered off to find some form of silence. It wasn't as if he were growing tired of his pack, or anything of that sort. Not at all. But Tortuga had felt as if he needed to get away, to clear his mind. What better place to rationalize your thoughts than on a lovely beach with sand between your toes and the sound of the waves in the background?
Tortuga let a soft sigh slip from his lips. Perhaps he should have informed Kasimira where he was off to. The last thing he wanted was for her to believe that he was off sneaking around, or something equally as bad. But he hadn't thought of that. He had simply thought of a quiet place and then slipped off undetected before anyone had awoken.
Dipping his head down, Tortuga sniffed at the water, wrinkling his nose at the strong smell. Then, he stepped back so that he was out of reach of the waves, lowering his rump to the sand. He watched silently for a long moment as the clouds moved slowly across the sky, forming shapes and making patterns. Then, sighing softly, he stood and moved off down the beach, trotting across the damp sand. His paws thumped dully against the ground as he moved, his eyes roaming, wondering if perhaps there was another being who had longed for the sand on this particular morning. The ivory hued brute was uncertain as to how he would feel about company on this day, seeing as he had escaped for silence...but no, he did not feel as if he would mind it. Oddly, he almost seemed to crave it.
