Thomassen ____________________________ Thomassen padded slowly into the grassy meadow of Irrsin. He had over heard some rogues talking about how plentiful with the place was. He was tired of chasing down prey and being chased. The sun was already going down, just barely above the horizon. It placed a red tinge on the land. Thom could barely see his dark greyish-black paws in front of him and tripped occasionally over a small stone or twig. He was feeling quite cheerful and soon broke into a trot. He passed a rock and almost instantly, a smell of territory markings flew into his nose: the marking of an Irrsin wolf. He instantly tensed, worrying whether these wolves would catch him for trespassing on their territory.
He hurried along, increasing his pace with each stride until he was flying. He soon stopped at the top of a rise, panting and gasping for breath. He was never meant to run far or fast. Even if his legs were muscular, they could never take him far by running. Therefore, he always ran, then stopped, then continued running. "The hell am I supposed to do now?" Thom snarled to himself. He placed his strong forepaw under a stone and flicked it down the slope. He thought he heard a small yelp, but decided he was hallucinating in his exhaustion and ignored it.
Knowing he would be unable to keep going for long until the sun set completely, Thom flopped down on the ground, his tail tucked instinctively around his hind legs. He never understood why others would put their tail on their nose. They claimed it was to protect it, but he never believed them. He closed his eyes and dozed for a while.
Soon, the sky was dark. Thomassen opened his eyes and looked around. He forgot for a moment where he was and stood up, frantic. As soon as he breathed in the smells of the meadow, he relaxed, taking deep breaths to slow his heart down. He tentatively took a step forward, then continued, heading deep into the heart of Irrsin territory.

KASIMIRA The day had just risen into a warm, early morning when the black she-wolf slunk hastily out of the den. Her ears were pricked and her blue eyes searching the meadow in a heartbeat; she planned to do some quick hunting before the pups woke up, a sort of surprise for them. Heh. She could hardly call them pups anymore. At six months old they were large enough to stand just under Tortuga's broad shoulders, and Marzell was tall enough to stand over that by inches. Adelina and Dresna were both growing into fine hunters too, their senses becoming more in tune with each small hunting endeavor they took. Kasimira half-smirked at the pride that rushed through her. They were all beautiful, resembling Tortuga and herself in the small features. Immediately recognizable to anyone who knew the black she-wolf and her white pelted mate.
It was with a certain pace that Kasimira crept over the ground, her paws light and delicate against the marshy grounds. In the summer her home meadow would grow strong and thick with reeds and grasses, filling the rolling hills with hues of golden flax and mellow tans. It was beautiful, the way the khakis intertwined with the tawny lines, a bright, glimmering amber that coated the valley. Much more beautiful and comfortable than the current stems of green and pools of water sitting from the night's previous rain. Ick. Kasimira let her stride lengthen as she realized the grass around her held no prey. Drat. She'd have to search the treeline if the Southern border didn't relinquish anything meal-worthy. With a huff, the black she-wolf pounded off in the southern direction, her eyes surveying the landscape thoroughly for any movement, any slip of the scenery and landscape.
As soon as she neared the border a foreign scent hit her nose and the female skidded to a halt, her tail raising in defiance of the scent. An intruder? How long had he been here? He. The thought processed faster than she had time to consider, but the aroma was certainly masculine. Cautiously the vixen glanced around, a snarl slipping onto her lips as she prowled forward. Crack. Kasimira jumped, a ripple of anger passing over her fur. To her direct left trotted a dark grey male through the underbrush, lurking in the shadows of the rising sun. She'd never have seen him if he hadn't slipped up on that branch. Hostility flickering in her bold, blue eyes, Kasimira sauntered forward to intercept and cut off the male's path. Her voice was rough and demanding as she spoke, embracing her usual no-nonsense type of attitude in a heartbeat.
"And who might you be? Awfully arrogant of you to simply waltz into another wolf's land without even the usual courtesy of howling an arrival."
A warning of the raging she-wolf inside, for sure.

Thomassen realized he had been wandering in circles the entire night. He found himself facing his own scent trails that wove this way and that and tried following them. However, he always found himself in a completely different place with a maze of his own scent trails behind him. His sharp eyes detected a small rabbit bouncing along in front of him. It didn't seem to detect him. He dropped into a crouch, then pounced. The rabbit hopped away, and he raced after it, his large body barging through the long green stalks of grass and churning up the soil. After several heartbeats, he stopped, his lungs heaving and trying to pump air into his tired body. "Never been good at catching no rabbits," Thom mumbled. He padded onward toward the south.
After a while, he found himself among a wide range of scents. They smelled similar to the land of Irrsin. Not wanting to confront anyone as a trespasser, Thom retraced his steps back to where he had started chasing the dumb little brown bouncer. He turned west as he reached his hunting start; he had no idea what he was doing, where he was going, and how he would deal with the wolves who found him lurking and creeping around.
Thomassen soon found a small pool of water. He lapped up a few drops, savoring the cold liquid running down his parched throat. He drank for a little while, then headed on.
He saw a fallen tree and out of instinct, jumped onto it. He balanced easily, but the tree was not firmly placed. It swayed rather back and forth, often forcing him to find different ways to grip it. Just then, he saw a figure coming up to him in the distance. It was a black she-wolf, and by the way she held herself and her tail, she was the reigning alpha of the area. Not wanting to look too like he was still and adolescent, he jumped down from the tree and lowered his tail the way a wolf showing his rank would. If the female was going to ask him to slink, he would refuse outright.
"And who might you be? Awfully arrogant of you to simply waltz into another wolf's land without even the usual courtesy of howling an arrival."
Thom was rather shocked at first. His ears went forward, and his lips began to curl. Then, remembering that this was an alpha, he checked himself. He lowered his shoulder fur and his lips, his tail reassuming the 'down' position.
"I'm sorry," Thom woofed respectively, giving a dip of his head. "I, er... I didn't realize I should have howled. I apologize if you thought I meant an offense."
Thom paused, unsure of what else to say. He wanted this alpha female to understand his position and possibly take him in. Unfortunately, he had just been kicked from his own pack because he had matured, and he simply wanted a pack that would take him in and care for him.
"Um... I promise that I did not take anything from your pack, ma'am," Thom said hoarsely. "I mean no offense to you or your pack."

KASIMIRA At first glance, the male's disposition grew hostile and arrogant. Kasimira bared her teeth further before he let his stance waver; obviously he'd noticed her status and scent. The black female stood with her head pulled up, her eyes flickering in an obvious scrutiny. She was waiting for a response, an apology, a sense of submission and obedience.
"I'm sorry, I, er... I didn't realize I should have howled. I apologize if you thought I meant an offense."
Kasimira narrowed her eyes at the strange male, her mind blurring. It was clear enough he wasn't from around here. If he was, surely he would have heard of the fabled Irrsin queen, the prideful black beauty that ruled the lands with an iron fist and a quick tongue to boot. Then again, maybe she overestimated her influence on others. Accepting the male's concession with a slow blink of her blue eyes, the vixen said nothing as he stammered along into another rough patch of dialogue.
"Um... I promise that I did not take anything from your pack, ma'am. I mean no offense to you or your pack."
Slowly, Kasimira lowered herself to the ground, taking the moment to lick her chest thoughtfully. It was time to show him what he'd signed onto by entering her lands.
"I'm going to assume you're not from these parts?"
The queen dipped her head, as if accepting the fact herself.
"So then, what are you here for? It's not often I'm graced a visitor, especially someone like yourself."
Kasimira scrunched her nose in disgust; he'd obviously been living on his own for a while and the hint of stale crow-food was unmistakable. The black she-wolf said nothing more for a few seconds as she considered how to further deal with the intruder before her. He seemed strong and well-built for his size, and in that respect alone he became a rather admissible addition to the pack. Turning the thoughts over, Kasimira evaluated his current demeanor with the pack. Tortuga and Kyren would no doubt be happy with more members. Zy, on the other hand, would find some roundabout opportunity to flirt mindlessly with him. What a bother. He'd get used to the strangeness of that wallflower eventually. She browsed over the other members; Calliope, Matrid, and Adali before inwardly nodding her approval. If all went according to her predictions, this would go rather swimmingly.
Kasimira snapped her eyes back to the male, the flashing blue vibrant as she focused her train of thought. Her voice was cold when she spoke, a hint of distaste for the lack of courtesy and respect laying on her words.
"And what's your name, brute?"
Perking her ears forward in a very flaunting sort of way, she offered her own namesake.
"I'm Kasimira, Queen of Irrsin."

Thomassen "No, I am not from these parts," Thomassen nodded his head in acknowledgement. "I, uh..., came from the other side of the land actually, um..." His voice trailed off, and he shifted his paws in the soil nervously. He hated to sound so anxious, especially when all he wanted to do was find new friends and possibly a home.
"So then, what are you here for? It's not often I'm graced a visitor, especially someone like yourself."
Thomassen did not know what to say. He often just avoided the question and reverted to something else. But this was an alpha! It was one of his few chances to stop smelling of carrion. He watched as she studied him, her head distinctly moving up and down judging his size, his weight. He saw her eyes looking rather far-fetched, perhaps considering whether he would be an acceptable member. He wagged his tail a little with hope.
"I, er, I was-" Thom was cut off when the female snapped back into her mind.
"And what's your name, brute? I'm Kasimira, Queen of Irrsin."
"My n-name?" Thomassen stuttered, caught off guard by this sudden harshness. He took a step back, his lips curling up only the tiniest bit. He was surprised to hear this alphess's namesake. 'A queen, eh?' Thom thought to himself. He dipped his head and curled a paw in acknowledgement.
"I-it's an honor to meet you, Ma'am Kasimira." Thom trembled, struggling to hold his formality. It wasn't often he had to pick himself up and not sound colloquial as he often did.
"I'm known as Thomassen, Ma'am." Then, getting bored with this formality, he accidentally spilled out, "Yep! Thomassen's the name!"
Immediately, Thom shut up. He had probably said the wrong thing to this proud female. This time, he studied her closely. She was black, obviously, with beautiful black eyes. Her fur looked soft and blew in ration with the wind. He shook his head, clearing his mind. What was he thinking? This was the Alphess! He ran his paw through the soil nervously, unsure of what the fae would say, having a stranger look at her like that.
